Abou Diaby has shocked and angered Arsenal fans by revealing he owns and actively wears a Tottenham Hotspur shirt. The Arsenal central midfielder claimed the shirt was given to him as a gift by his good friend, and Spurs defender, Younes Kaboul but admits he isn’t planning on wearing the top outside the comfort of his home.
“It’s more difficult to wear in the street. There you are not safe,” Diaby said. There are no photographs of the Arsenal midfielder wearing the shirt of his club’s biggest rival but this certainly raises questions about the player’s loyalty at a time where it seems like half of the Arsenal squad is being linked with a move away from the team.
To make matters even worse the French international has refused to rule out a move to our local arch-enemies Spurs saying he would one day like to play alongside his mate Kaboul.
“It would be good to play for the same club one day,” Diaby said.
I wonder if Fabregas wears his Barcelona shirt at home? Or maybe Nasri has one with “I’m a greedy b@st@rd!” on it!

Lol I like your closing qoute! Personally I think it’s ok to own shirts from other clubs if you’ve traded them at the end of the game but to own and wear one is another matter! The only exception to wearing another clubs shirt is if your a fan of the team, cesc can wear his because he is a fan of barca n wilshire can wear his can west ham shirt cos hes a fan.
Eitherway diaby was never very high in my books anyway but now he’s just dropped to rock bottem!

Folks, at this rate we will have no team…is it really all the players fault? All of them? Really? I think we are missing the big picture…loyalty to a club is instilled, not just automatic – this is part of management I’m afraid! If AW left, how many players would leave with him? If Ferguson left, how many with leave with him? Why is that? AW has done so much for Arsenal, for the past 4/5 seasons he has started a process of undoing most, this we will realize in another 5 seasons!

Is anybody else tired or our players using tactics like this to speak to the managers of other clubs? It is illegal for him to approach Spurs, so he wears a shirt to say, “Come and get me.” Fabregas has every year said to Barcelona, “Come and get me.” … by saying things like, “I want to go to Barcelona …” “… Eventually” … or who remembers Fabregas saying, “It’s a dream for any player to play under Pep Guardiola.” EVERY such statement is saying, “Come and get me.” What else …. Hmmmm … yeah, it’s illegail for players to talk to clubs, so get your international team-mates to pass on messages to their managers.
I understand players holding out for more money during contract negotiations – but any player saying “Come and get me” should be investigated by the club and, if found to be true, that player should be penalised for having total disrespect for Arsenal and the fans.

It`s common practice in Australia for blokes to walk around in rugby league shirts with a number on their back.
Some years ago my young son visted me from England and asked “why do they wear shirts with numbers on dad”? “Chances they get lost son” I replied. Maybe Diaby isn`t sure where he lives….just a thought.

I have always questioned the loyalty of some of these Arsenal players, particularly Diaby. I can now understand his indifference whenever he losses possession.
I guess all well meaning Arsenal Supporters should as a matter of urgency, petition the Manager and the Arsenal board to dispense with his services immediately.
All genuine Gunners should join ” operation get Diaby out” campaign. At least that will restore some pride to our fraternity. I have followed The Arsenal since 1981, and i must admit, that these current crop of players with the exception of RVP, TV, and the midfield duo of Jack and Song are amongst the most disloyal that have ever served our dear club. The earlier we let them go, the better. Diaby openly telling us that, he owns and wears a spurs shirt at home is the ultimate insult to all decent minded Gunners around the world. Maybe we need to declare him a persona non grata at our club.

We have to be so careful as most teams see us as the weak link in the top four. All clubs are gonna try and take our top players and unsettle arsenal. Arsenal players really have to stick together and all want the same thing, and that’s to win and have pride in wearing the arsenal shirt. If fab and nas both want to leave then send them to Spain or Italy. Wenger has managed the club well in finacial terms but we are starting to become a laughing stock on the pitch. Last season to deliver or he has to go. My opinion only. Even better, he joins arsenal’s board of directors. As for diaby, you deserve to play for spurs, your shit.

Being French, i read the interview first hand. And Diaby was having a laugh with his old friend Kaboul. In now way he disrespected the club and showed disloyalty. He was just cracking a joke about the rivalry and it is unfair to take is words out of context and distorting the facts. This blog is turning into an anti arsenal propaganda, trying to turn our beautiful into another billionaires weekend distraction. I respect the way business is handled at Arsenal FC and its ethics and long term discipline is the reason why i support this club through thick and thin.
