Diaby (LANS lol!), but does he still have a future at Arsenal?
Arsenal fans will be reasonably content to see Abou Diaby return to the team – LANS (Like A New Signing) – the enigmatic Frenchman will probably provide further cover for the midfield behind Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey, but many Gooners will remember Diaby’s infuriating inconsistency, from his red-card horror show at St. James Park in 2010 and his quite amazing own-goal at Old Trafford back in 2009, to his virtuoso performance also in St. James Park in 2009 and dominant performance against Manchester United just back in 2008 at the Emirates.
But if any Arsenal fan concludes with impudence that Diaby is a “terrible” player, “diabolical” or “horrifying”, it is important to bear in mind that Diaby has shown in past that he is capable of producing great performances in big games. In the 2009/10 season, he was an integral part of the Arsenal midfield and was immense in ensuring Arsenal challenged for the title until late in the season.
His upper body strength, technique on the ball and accurate shooting on his right foot are all assets that Arsenal would find useful. In other words, Diaby will certainly get a chance to still play for Arsenal Football Club, but only from the bench or in Carling Cup matches. He will have to wrestle his place in the first team from his peers Arteta and Ramsey, who have seemingly forged a partnership of sorts as the spine of the current Arsenal team. The return of Wilshere possibly by Christmas could spell further competition for the Frenchman.
However, the problem here does not lie in whether Diaby is picked in the Arsenal squad. At 25 years of age, Diaby is approaching his “golden years”. Will he be content to sit on the bench as a squad player, much like other youth players at the club at present? It will be a great struggle for his first team spot and in the near future, Diaby may have to make a decision to stay or to leave to another team where he can find more playing time.

I’ve always liked Diaby, but like a majority of Arsenals youngsters they seem to get injured quite frequently which hinders their progress.
Diaby is a solid midfielder, after Songs performance yesterday you can’t see him being dislodged any time soon. Although what he does add is height in midfield, which we do lack since Patrick Viera left. A majority of long balls up field are sent towards RVP, being the only striker we rarely grab a goal straight from the back like that.
I hope he stays and works hard, would be good to see him give something back to the fans.

Personally I have never really liked Diaby, from what I have seen of him, he is slow and gives the ball away far too often. But, people always deserve a second chance. With Wilshere still injured and Pong and Coquelin (although very impressive and potent players) still lacking experience, Diaby would be a suitable replacement if either Ramsey of Arteta get injured. I will admit, Diaby has streaks of brilliance, almost like Henry did when he first started playing for us. I think Wenger should play him in a more attacking position, he looks dangerous moving forward and tough to get off the ball.

a bad beginning makes a good ending
it was 4 months ago, arsenal haters were at their peak of criticizing arsenal’s poor performance. arsenal was likened to QPR, Norwich, or even last terms relegated west ham. currently arsenal stands 7th on the table with 22 points, 12 behind Manchester city and 7 behind Manchester united at second place. its the only team in England so far that has qualified for knockout stages of CL besides being sure of topping up the group a head of giants dortmond and mersaille, thanks to the arsenal fraternity for the collective work done for the improvement of the team, thanks to fans both in London and across the world, thanks to the friends of arsenal and enemies too for your criticism that was used as a platform for our improvement, thanks to the entire arsenal team led by captain van persie, verminator, song, ramsey, arteta, walcott, the list is long. but most importantly, thanks to wenger for your consistency and hawk- bigheartedness. you made sure we were back to where we belong. keep up gentlemen the season is long.

Diaby can mek the best mhdfielder in the world under a brilliant manager who can nature his qualitities. If i forget his floppy mistakes in sm games, 2be precise he should be our New Viera soon. He has bn oustanding in big games as well as being excellent in national team. Smbody else shd leave n nt Diaby.

Diaby will never be a player to build a team around as he has always been injury prone even when we bought him. Used sparingly he could have a future..if he left…. so what. I too thought he could be the new Viera…but no way just look at replays of Viera in his best days with us.

Rosicky and Arshavin should be sold before Diaby… Though Diaby is not too far behind… Though, Diaby does bring something different to the AFC midfield… he is a ball playing ‘tall’ midfielder… quite a unique player, and there are not too many players like him around… However, I would say that Frimpong would easily be able to fill Diaby’s void… and would also rather see M’Vila on the pitch over Diaby… that said, Diaby is a very good player, just a little languid, and seemingly uncommitted at times

Let’s get a few facts revealed about Diaby who I regard as a legend in the making in our great Club’s history. The episode against Newcastle was 99% due to Barton, while the own goal against Manure was merely an example of bizarre goals ALL Arsenal sides have traditionally conceded over the past 70 odd years e.g. the Carling Cup Final vs Birmingham City.
I prefer to remember his sterling displays for Arsenal (as well as his mistakes). He can be a matchwinner in a single moment but the pre-requisite is he must be kept fit.
Up to now this season, another injury-prone player (Van Persie) has remained fit so there is no reason why Diaby can’t be fortunate as well. Let’s hope so because we need his contribution towards our cause.

anyone sensing another revelation one such as van persie’s own? i think he should not leave and would not leave as tho Arsenal stood by him even through his never ending injury problems. Its time for him to produce and to make us all proud. and besides from him being a very good and strong player, would he be so stupid to want to leave the best club i the world??? i dont think so

A bit off the topic, already posted my thoughts on Diaby. I was watching Fabregas against Milan and he was immaculate. But looking at our current lineup, I actually think our current midfield is way more suited to RvP style of play, than when we had Nasri and Fab. The goals are the proof. All of a sudden RvP is scoring like a maniac and he seems so much more positive and determined than last season. Fabregas and Nasri leaving might have been the best thing to happen to us.

There are 3 absolutely world class players left at Arsenal Football Club. Van Persie, Wilshere, and Diaby. Others are being nurtured currently in the form of Ox-Chamberlain, Miyaichi, Jenkinson, and Ignasi. Diaby wouldn’t last a day on the transfer market before one of Europe’s top 5 teams grab him up. Pure quality thru and thru.
ps. The notion that he is mistake prone is a misjudgment, as 2-3 seasons ago when he was getting playing time, Nasri, Song, and our patchy back line were making schoolboy tactical and technical errors every 10 mins on field. not fair to judge him based on that era.

don’t let this guy (that has had too many chances already)…possibly block the progress of youth
Cocquelin – Frimpong – Lansbury & Bartlett (on loan) all are deserving of a fair shake
Diaby is now surplus to requirements in an already extended midfield – and when Jack returns you would expect a mini exodus of some of the dead-wood in January….maybe the frenchman will one of them

Whatever happened @ Newcatle can not be attributed to Diaby. If anything he was victim of that. Otherwise when he is fit he could be a match winner. He is better than Arshawin & Chamak in attack & better than Arshawin in defence. He is even better than Ramsey(at the moment as he has potential to improve)
So he should be retained for few more years

He will. Kosc did that despite of the errors initially. He just needs a number of games. Arteta was a panic buy he ain’t an arsenal class of player. Jack and diaby will bench him soon.

diaby is the quickest midfielder in arsenal by far we need him i agree that ramsey makes runs from midfield and has a great vision on and off the ball but he is not as quick as diaby. diaby shoud be used as a squad player and he provides a great strngth to us at both ends. hope he just doesn’t get injured much more.he has seen the worst
