Djourou happy to sign contract extension with Arsenal
The 25 year-old centre-back Johann Djourou has already been at Arsenal for nine years after working his way through the Academy, and it has been revealed today that he has now signed a two-year extension to his current deal.
It was announced on the official Swiss Football Federation’s website that he will now remain at the Emirates until 2015, and he is well aware that he has to fight for his place. He is currently fourth-choice for centre-back but has been helping out at right-back during the recent injury crisis.
Djourou said: “I like this club and I want to stay here as long as possible,”
“I currently work in the background, waiting for another chance to show my potential. I have confidence in the future.”
I think there are quite a few Arsenal fans still hoping for Djourou to show his true potential, but at 25 years-of-age that may remain just a hope……

Djorou was really good last year. He’s been played out of position all season. To me, he’s a good backup and i’m happy for his extension.

I’m going to be on the edge of my seat throughout these coming three months. They are extremely crucial for AFC, for many, many reasons.

he is a gooner very pasionet about the club loves it to bits
As a back-up defender, he’s good to have around. He’ll never be first choice and I don’t think he or anyone at the clubs expects him to be. We can’t have 23 of the best players in the world in our squad ffs, there are only 11 starting places!
Chelsea’s 4th choice: Ivanovic/Luiz
United’s 4th choice: Evans
City’s 4th choice: Savic
Spur’s 4th choice: Dawson
Liverpool’s 4th choice: Coates
Is Djourou the odd one out? Hardly imo.
He was a beast last season, lest you all forget. He has had some sub-standard performances recently, sure, but they have mostly come at RB. A few games alongside Boscielny/Vermaelen and I’m positive he would recapture his superb form of last year.
For 4th choice, what in the blue fuck do people expect?

Good for Djourou, many will not agree but I actually like him to stay. He is not that bad (like Squillaci bad)and with every next game he gains more experience and learns more of his teammates movement and eventually (I hope) he will become the spine of our defense. 9 years already with Arsenal and committing 3 more, that deserves respect. And on top of that, I can see his desire to win while playing, while some others tend to disappoint me. I may be wrong, but that’s just simply my humble opinion
GUNNERS FOR LIFE!!!

I bet Djourou is happy to extend his contract. He has been very unreliable for some time. One of Wenger’s golden boys for some unknown reason. Not at all a good defender.

Everyone’s criticism of Djourou is harsh in my opinion. We have had many, many worse defenders; Cygan, Senderos. He is a good player, just not suited at all to right back like Arshavin is not suited to the wing and just like Van Persie and Walcott would struggle if put in defence. That may sound silly, but right back and centre back are so completely different in every aspect and it would be hard for someone who has played there to adjust instantly. The positioning, marking, running, attacking – it is so very different in every way. Get off his back and judge him playing at centre back, where he has been playing for the last nine years.

Further proof that afc lack ambition and that AW is a spent force and lying charlatan.
Djourou would not be first choice for sunderland but at we reward him for being useless.
I want to play for arsenal as well now seeing how they are giving places away.

It’s not lack of ambition…or any such crap…. Like Eboue was, Djourou is a decent squad player!!….Not a first choice in any angle…. but we are not $hitty of top top class 25 squad players

Thats good Djourou, keep up fighting for your position. Be ready to please man Wenger by covering any position youll be requested. Those who dont see your importance will remain the same. We need to change our attitude towards discouraging our players. We need them more that what they need from Us.

No,no Wenger should let him go and given chance to Yennari Couquolin and others who has shown ability to improve. Poor defending, poor passing and poor control.

Crazy business, my Arse! Djourou “the donkey”‘ contract has been extended. At this pace, Squillaci and Denilson will be next to be rewarded with improved contract, what a joke! This is one of the reasons why AFC has been left so far behind by the likes of Manure, Shitty, Spuds. A player like Djourou will never play even for the reserves of these teams! AW lacks the ruthless/heartless side of great managers such as Mourinho and Fergie. He probably likes Djourou being a good boy and this fact alone makes him blind to all Djourou’s glaring weaknesses!

Excellent signing. Actually, come the Summer, I will see this as a new signing. It’s just like a new signing.
Djourou is the business. He has improved alot and he’ll improve more under the guidance of Vermaelen, Mertesacker and Koscielny. He’s also tall and good in the air, this can be a tactical advantage when paired with Mertesacker against a team with an uber ball crosser.
Somewhere, somehow, Djourou will win the Champions league for us. Perhaps an off the line clearance, or keeping Messi silent for 90 mins, I just see it whenever I look at this Swiss powerhouse. It’s in the bag because we have him until 2015, the same year Wenger retires – and Wenger won’t retire until we are the Champions of Europe.
I’m going to give Djourou the nickname of Quadrupler, because he’s going to bag us the quadruple for sure.

@Arsenal1Again. You’re being sarcastic right! BTW, Nani is LMFAO after learning AFC has extended the donkey. Djourou can’t defend, can’t control, can’t pass the ball, what a waste of money for AFC!
