Djourou injured! Wenger needs to move fast for a defender!
Arsenals third easy win of the pre-season last night was marred by the sight of Johan Djourou limping off in the first half. The French centre-back has only just returned to playing after missing the whole of last season through a knee injury.
With Gallas, Senderos, Silvestre and Campbell all leaving Arsenal this summer, Djourou was thought to be imperative to Arsene Wenger’s plans. If he has suffered a recurrence of his injury it will only serve to highlight the lack of defenders at the club. At the moment Wenger only has the new signing Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen as first-choice, and the 20 year-old Havard Noerdtveit as back-up, so a new defender or two is now becoming more and more urgent.
The news this morning that Ivan Gazidis is in Germany to try and do a deal for Per Mertsacker gives the Arsenal fans hope, but Wenger is hardly known for completing his transfers quickly! It would seem that Arsenal are going to need two more defenders at least or risk being decimated by injuries as usual….

Djourou is Swiss
I think arsenal needs to act real fast before the season starts.Unless this season is going to be a re-occurrence of last season……… Two world class defenders are needed.

Does any Arsenal fan really believe Wenger will buy what we need. Year after bloody year he promises the right signings in the right places. After last seasons shambles he promised us there is now a large chunk of money available to make the right signings. I will actually inform you our squad is now weaker than last year. He has failed again and its the likes of myself paying for my season ticket and his pathetic ability to deliver what he promises. Just analyse his deals so far:
In – Chamack (free), Koscienly (10mill)
Out – Gallas (free), Silvestre (free), Senderos (free), Campbell (free), Merida (free), Eduardo (6mill).
So thats one striker in and one inexperienced promising defender. We lose 4 centre halfs. one attacking midfielder who will shine at athletico. and one striker. He has slashed the wage bill. With Gallas especially. Koscienlys and chamacks wages will not be his combined. so in effect he has spent 4 million this summer. He has reduced the wage bill so much in the long term he has actually made a transfer profit yet again. We still have shocking keepers and mannone and schezny are far 2 young to be at the top level. Wenger promised the right signings and strenghtening the team in the right areas. I guarentee you if he makes no more signings Arsenal will struggle to finish 4th. Then will lose champs league revenue and the team will disperse. Lose key players like he did in 2005-2007. the rebuild process again. We have so much to look forward to with this inept frenchman still in charge. Some of you will say Arsenal ahve quality. yes they play great football going forward and score goals. but they are naive they push too many men forward and try to walk it in all the time rather than shoot from distance or penetrate. As a unit they are shocking defensively. and will be worse without a quality keeper and a quality partner for TV. Almunia had a 64% save to shot ratio last season. Arsenal had fewer shots againts them on target than united and chelsea and conceeded more. the keepers don’t save the shots. Arsene Wenger is now a joke. No wonder Cesc wants to leave. If I was a player I would be fuming under him now! No wait we have harvard nordveitt to replace the surprisingly injured Djourou. He could easily go out and buy any keeper for up to 15 mill like akinfeev, hart, lloris, buffon, neur etc. he could spend 20 mill on a top class centre back. the squad is now smaller with the experience of gallas lost. shite keepers. shite backroom staff. Don’t bet on a centre half being signed or a keeper. he has made his profit now. yet again!!

I am pretty sure Djourou is Swiss. And yes offcourse we need defenderS. Sol leaving and Dj getting injured is a blessing in disguise. This will force wenger to buy defenders. I just hope its not a Sol/Silvestre(old pensioners) type of signing but a real beast. Maybe Gary Cahill and Jageyelka.

we are threadbare through the middle of defence, we need two centre halves. surely wenger knew campbell wasnt signing again so you would think one cb is a certainty. but one wont cover it, two plus a keeper required!!

Dont know what Wenger is playing at our weekeness last year was defence but he has managed to weeken it further need two defenders and a Goalkeeper they should have been in place now and let them have some games at the em cup.
I feel at the moment Wenger has taken this club backwards over the last five years with his tranfer policy.

we all saw what happened to england when the manager didn’t have a dfinate number 1 in goal, i hope the same wont happen to us, surely best to say now who is main keeper and not to keep us and them guessing
i really think AW should get rid of those injury prone players like djourou,rosicky,diaby and even RVP.
all the players have not never played a full season and some less than 10 matches per season for arsenal.
either its bad luck or whatever supernatural reasons for those injuries, these players cannot be counted on so get rid of them.

dont need to buy new players just give the chance to the next generation mannone,Noerdtveit etc they will require a few matches to get in the mold
Clichy and Sagna only arrived in Austria for the last match and is the same with all the international world cup players, except for cesc who is due back early August.

There is now an enormous hole in the centre defense, and many areas remain neglected, cesc cannot be viewing current events with any enthusiasm. If last season was pivotal this one is vital, and it doesn’t look very good.
It appears Arsenal are sleeping through another summer and thereby another season.
fairly interesting goalkeeper links, i’d sleep well knowing that either Akinfeev, Steklenberg, Neuer, Adler or Marchetti were in goals.
Last signing: Mertesacker is solid, and he would add to a brutal defence, no bastards would get past that line.
Best thing is that Mertesacker and Akinfeev have both expressed interest in joing Arsenal, hook in Wenger!
