Djourou leaves Arsenal but only on loan!
Arsenal have made more room in the dressing room and freed up more wages for new players by agreeing a deal with the German Bundesliga side Hannover that will see Johan Djourouu play for them until the end of the season. Arsenal fans were probably hoping that the deal would be a permanent transfer, but if the Swiss international plays well for them it probably will become so.
The main thing is that his wages can now go elsewhere. We have already done the same with Marouane Chamakh. The Moroccan striker has joined the Premier league side West Ham, also until the end of the season. If the rumours about the imminent departure of Sebastien Squillachi are true, then Arsenal will have released a significant amount of money from the wage bill.
It would be great if we could actually sell these players, but in the current financial situation, nobody is willing to spend money on them. Both Chamakh and Djourou have been good for Arsenal in the past, but they are no good if they are not playing regularly. Hopefully they will both do well and earn themselves permanent transfers.
Good luck to them both.

I wish him wel

As always with my beloved club, the good news is always spiked with the bad.
I can only hope he stays there.

Good luck to him. I wish him all the best, but we really need to get him and the other deadwood PERMANENTLY off the wage bill so we can sign some class players.

Just a though….
That whole ‘athletico hijacking villa transfer’, makes far more sense, as Athletico trying to get him, to replace Loppez who is coming to us.
Imo, that makes far more sense, espcially when u consider his family situation, and his age, can’t see him being an Arsenal taget.
With transfers, u gotta read between the lines.

The board are incapable of selling players unless they are our captain or players that sell themselves, Chamakh,Bendtner, Denilson now Djourou all on loan all running down their contracts until they leave on a free transfer. Dont forget we also paid Park to leave by paying off his contract.

Just because someone went out on loan does not mean we are not covering some of their wages.
I would be interested to know if we are still covering any of the wage bill.

I think Chamakh going out on loan could be good for him and us. He was playing pretty good before Van Persie came back. If he gains some form then more clubs will be willing to pay a higher transfer fee and along with his wages.

Exactly. I believe that Arsenal is still covering a certain percentage of their wages. There is absolutely no way that west ham or hannover would cover their full wages as it is way too much and they haven’t even played much this season.

“Hopefully they do well and earn themselves permanent transfers” although true for Chamack I personally hope Djourou comes back as an established first team centre back to pair with Vermaelan as Kos has looked shaky and Merts is not one for the future like Djourou, we all saw how good he was when he had a decent run in the team and its a shame our most recent memories of him are when he was playing out of position at right back which really wasn’t good for anyone.

We have got such quality players at such small wages that everyone get them on loan rather than buy them.

The reason they leave on loan is because Wenger wants them to lest they finally live up to their potential and also to get loan fees and extracting maximum profit from the deal.

chamakh loan is brilliant because he was on form before he was replaced by an inform van persie and had actual match fitness, the benefits to us are:
1. he will help west ham take points off opposition (can’t play us though)
2. he will increase his own value so we can sell him or he proves to us that he can play for us again, he was never given a real chance to get back into the squad with the odd cup match and sub in here or there
3. helps with the wage bill

Clubs don’t let players go unless they have a replacement already lined up.
I really do think, the more u look at it, villa to athletico, then lopez to us. Walcott hopefully will sign this week too!?
I’d take either tbh, love to get an arsenal shirt with villa’s name on it, but then, there is the problem, that would be a major reason for the board to bring him in, to make money. I think lopez is the better option, younger, but not an unknown youngster, and he’s superb on the wing.
Not going to the game tomorrow, but looking forward to watching it, COYG, we need some momentum going into the City game.

I don’t see us being able to get rid of Chamakh and Djourou permanently. Squillaci is out of contract at the end of the season and Arshavin has the quality to find another decent club.
But if I were Djourou or Chamakh, i’d be quite happy sitting on my backside collecting 50-60k every week.

The problem is no one will buy the players we no longer need because of Arsene Wenger’s poor management.
Why on earth is Chamakh on 60K and Djourou 50K?
They would not be on this at another club and that is why they won’t move
