Does Van Persie need to sign a new contract to become an Arsenal legend?
With statues of Tony Adams, Thierry Henry and Herbert Chapman erected recently in celebration for Arsenal’s 125th anniversary, a lot of attention was turned to Arsenal’s current flying Dutchman. Many questioned Van Persie’s credentials to be an Arsenal great in years to come.
Van Persie has been at the club since 2005. RVP had a rocky start to his Arsenal career was filled with major and minor injuries. His real breakthrough season was in 2009 where his 20 goals and 15 assists made him Arsenal player of the year. Since then, Van Persie’s time at Arsenal has been absolutely glittering.
Then came year 2011 where VanPersie just exploded. He was banging in goal after goal and broke the premier league record of most away goals away from home in one calendar year. He recently scored his 100th goal for Arsenal against Bolton and Robin is now on course to break Shearer and Henry’s record for most goals scored in the premier league in one year.
So, will the current Arsenal captain actually be a legend for the club in future?
At aged 28, Robin has struck 114 goals for Arsenal. When Henry was 26, he has already scored 112 goals. However, these numbers are irrelevant as we are not looking at RVP to beat Henry’s record. Bergkamp only scored 120 goals for the team but he is second all time in the Arsenal legends poll from the fans.
I feel that what is actually important for RVP is that he must remain dedicated and committed to the club. If he really is looking to be a legend for the club and potentially have his statue erected outside the stadium, he must stay with club for a long time and lead Arsenal back to her previous glory. This way and with a goal tally nearing 200, he would certainly become a legend for the club.
Hopefully Arsenal and Arsene would break the bank and keep Robin at the club for a long time with an attractive and lucrative contract.

In our current minds, RVP is already a legend, but yes if he extends, he will definitely be remembered for many years by the Arsenal faithful.
Come on RVP, if you’re reading this, take the pen and scribble. Seal the deal that will make you Immortal!

I love Van Persie, but it takes more than one fantastic year
to be remembered as a legend in the context of Adams, Henry etc. Also legends win trophy’s.
I really hope he signs another contract and becomes that legend!

Van Persie will ALWAYS be a legend. i personally believe that if wenger the genius gives theo walcott a contract extension, if might also fuel Van persie’s desire to stay as Walcott has been a main contributor to Van Persie’s goals. UP THE GUNNERS!

He already is a legend! No matters what he does. But if he wants to be a true, true Gooners great like Henry then yes he must extend the contract.
And Alex thank you for saying that Fabregas is a legend. I thought that I am the only one on this site that see it.

he cn gve you trophy, but the whole team must cntribute as one.he cnt do it by himself. our invincible in evry each of them do it. henry, overmars, bergkamp, pires, ljunberg, viera, fabregas, gilberto, lauren, campbell, tony adams, toure, cashley cole, seaman.
we hv that in szc,tv5,mert,kos,sagna,song,walcot,robin.but not in almunia, fabianski, squid, djourou, denilson, arshavin, chamakh, bendtner.

How in shitting hell is fabregas a f^(k1ng legend???????? get real people!
Yes he was a great player but a legend he was not as he won sod all and left before he got to his peek so how on earth is Fabregas a legend? Henry won Loads of trophies and Van Persie WILL sign and win things to become a Arsenal Legend.

I personally cannot see RVP ever leaving Arsenal as I think he has Arsenal DNA in his blood!
Seriously I do not see him leaving, he totally loves being our captain which is clear to see and we have such a bright future at Arsenal with the likes of Wilshere, OX, Walcott, Schezza, Ryo, Frimpong, Rambo and last but not least GOETZE? He WILL sign so no panicking Please fellow Gooners!
