Eden Hazard and Marvin Martin both choose Spain over Arsenal
Arsene Wenger’s search for a top class midfielder to fill Cesc Fabregas’ boots at the Emirates took a double blow yesterday as two of the most likely contenders, Eden Hazard and Marvin Martin, both announced that they would prefer to move to La Liga than the Premiership.
Eden Hazard now seems certain to be moving to Real Madrid next summer. First of all his agent revealed that he had been in touch with the Spanish giants and Hazard made it clear when he said: “I want to play for Real Madrid. I do not want to play for any other team.”
Yesterday, Chelsea and Arsenal headed the betting to sign Hazard, and it will be a great loss to the Premier League if he moves to La Liga instead, but it seems like a done deal as far as he is concerned.
Marvin Martin has been touted as another (cheaper) alternative, but the French international also admitted his preference for Spain. He said: “This summer I intend to leave Sochaux,”
“I really like Spain. It is a beautiful championship. But if a big French club is interested, there is no problem, I’ll stay in France.
“On reflection, I think I made the right choice [signing a new contract]. The most important thing when you’re young is to play. This is what I do at Sochaux.”
So it seems that Wenger will have to make do with Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere next season, or perhaps Mario Gotze?

With those two out of contention, Wenger should make a real push to get Götze. He has the money and the wages to get him. This would probably mean raising Jack’s to match those of Götze but that was gonna have to happen soon enough anyway.
And please Wenger, give Robin the £200,000 a week he deserves. And if there’s any left over it might be worth having a go at getting Pato. What a team we would have then!

The news is disappointing but not sad. I’m king of glad arsene can now narrow his search for an attacking mid. I think gotze, rues, and Douglas-costaa are the top candidates respectively and I’d be jacked up if we signed any of them.

We wont buy anyone in January unless we sell Arshavin this transfer window, if we can get £12-£15 Mil for him then history would tell us we would bring in a player for about £5 to £8 Million which probably rules out the ones mentioned.
This is not me being negative, I’m not a negative person, just realistic. I don’t think this team needs much change to it, I’ve said all along we have class but just had to get over the initial stumbling block.
…oh, and surely they chose Spain over England or Spanish teams over Arsenal, just nit picking, lol!!!

Hazard, Eden, Gotze are just names touted about in the media because their agents have told the papers things are going on. They do this in the knowledge the papers and media will publish this BS there by attracting other interested parties and therefore knocking the price up. As the agents are paid a percentage of their clients transfer fee, this results in their fee being higher.
If you really want these players at Arsenal, I would suggest not jumping on the band wagon and doing your small bit to increase the price of the player.

Not really, the only player I think he should definitely go for is Götze, and he’s only going to come if we offer him a very big contract. And if we do, Jack is gonna expect to match it.
If we don’t go a bit over the top and offer £200,000 a week to our best player, and one of the best goal scorers in the world right now then someone else will and we could lose him.
And I mentioned Pato because he’s come up a few times, and if Wenger has any more money to play with why not go for another top class goal scorer, because right now we only have one. And the chances of Robin lasting the whole season appear quite slim.
I don’t think these ideas are that outlandish.

I’d rather have someone so poor like Squillaci, but loyal, than unsettled star like Hazard dreaming about Spain. Bring Goetze, Reus, Montolivo, Douglas Costa, Grosskreutz, Marin, Gorcouff, etc. No need to worry about Hazard. He will ruin his career on Madrid’s bench!

My comment here is, Offcourse, the gunners are on well track when i compare with the past fist 5 games. But now, to keep as it is, the AW should by atleast two key players with aout concerning the big money.b/u, If it is not buy any more players specilly the attacking mid filders it is difficult regariding with injury problems, and with past experience of the after January reptedlly games the gunners are alwayss lose. threfore, it important to buy the sellecive and world class players.

I am really dispointed by your thaughts.
AW know what he is doing and he will , maybe, bring in a name you have never heard before and you will start saying negative things about the new signing. and after 2 months, you’d start saying what a signing it was, he’s really good and so on.

It’s funny how as soon as Arsenal is interested in a player, you have Spurs, Madrid, Liverpool, Barca, City and pretty much every other team with bucks jumping on the bandwagon. Pisses me off and also the fact that we can never compare with the wage structure most of those other teams have to offer. But at the same time, players who come to Arsenal are those who actually want to play mainly for the club and not the money. Would rather have players like that than players who are here for a season or two then piss off.
Arsenal has a great reputation and history, I think we have enough to offer as a home for any world class footballer. It’s fine let the Hazard’s, Nasri’s and Fabregas’s go to those type of clubs, we want players who are loyal and play for their club because they love it as much as the fans.

The comments made by Martin shows what type of person he is.. MONEY MOTIVATED. We should be looking for loyal players, Gotze; Podolski, Pato (some may say it will be unrealistic) but just keep positive. We had Wilshere say he would love to play for us forever, we want that our club has always been a family up until recent years with the likes of Nasri. Lets get back to what we do best and end every team that steps in our way. Show them loyalty over money.

Thats the reason A LOT of …more technical type of players don’t want to play in PL-beacause the game is different,the pace is different-it is a lot faster and there are some tough-tough deffenders-a lot of them are just scared for their careers – simple as that.In Spain the pase is slower and if you play in Barca or Real you’ll have … how to put it…refferee’s “support” like…almost everytime they’ll need it – Athletic Bilbao Barcelona 2:2 is latest example …. It’s not all about the money – it’s easier to be a La Liga player especially if you’re Barca or Real player-there’s not even one deffender that will do what Ryan Shawcross did beacause he’ll be baned for life..
About the bullyes in Arsenal-i’m tired of some nice technitians in Arsenal …playing nice against smaller clubs and to hide like mices in Big Games-we need players with HEARTS AND HUGE BALLS-not some sissies with c.litts!

Agreed. Germany is the place to shop right now. Great talent, not over inflated prices. Watch all the EPL go there next summer. We should try get in early and get a bargain or two.
Gotze indefinitely worth getting. If Hazard wants Spain, there is absolutely no reason to pursue him. Otherwise we find ourselves back at “Ca$hri” – a player that just follows the cash instead of giving his 100% to build a great team. Arsenal not longer needs player who are only out for themselves. With that in mind, get rid of Arshavin & Bendtner. They only perform when they feel like it, and complain and blame everyone else when they don’t get time on the pitch (because they aren’t performing!). These kind of players need to look within, not outwardly for reasons they aren’t in the starting 11, or left on the bench, or sent out on load. Feels like we now have players that feel they are owed something by the club. Pull your finger out and prove your worth instead of telling us how good you are! Lets save the wages bill, and buy a couple of players that will add to our side.

Those two are losers and just found the easy way out. Go to Madrid or Barcelona and destroy the competition. The Prem is 100 times more difficult than La Liga so figures they would keep it safe.
Götze is overrated and they want too much money for him, I don’t see Wenger buying him. We have a deep midfield now, the problem will come when Benayoun leaves and we pick up injuries (knock on wood) but i think Ramsey, Wilshere, Arteta, Song and Roszicky can hold it down this season. A Striker is more important in January. Perhaps Benzema or Pato would be nice.

The reason Arsenal had so much success during Wengers formative years was because he had players that actually WANTED TO PLAY FOR ARSENAL. Pires, Bergkamp, Henry were not looking to greener pastures especially Bergkamp..what I would give to have a player of his ilk at Arsenal, classy, composed, talented and most importantly loyal. He retired at the freaking club for pete’s sake! That’s loyalty! In came the cash injections at City and Chelsea and greed reared it ugly head in. If Hazard and Martin wanna go and warm Madridista benches by all means go ahead, just ask Nicolas Anelka. A top prospect at Arsenal who thought Madrid was the place to be, a few torrid years later he was back at Bolton…yea mighty Bolton. Luckily Chelsea saved his flailing career. Yes Cesc gave us 8 yrs, but only because he wasn’t gonna get them at Barca, He used as as a stepping stone just as Nasri did albeit he masked it better than Nasri. Bring back the Bergkamp, Adams type players whose love for the clubs supercede their love for their already exorbitant wages they get paid.

Henry was making ~140.000£/w last season he was playing for us (2006-2007) and he had some HUGE bonuses – for every goal in PL,FA cup,CL….basically he was making more than 180.000£/w .At this time the only club in the world paying big salarys was Chelsea.Barca and Real were both in terrible conditions and La Liga was pure crap (Real won the title with Capello) and Ibra was making ~7.5mil euros/year in Inter (9.0mil euros/year in 2007/2008) but he had no bunuses in his contact.Henry was the top dog!

Wenger has always disappointed us when it comes to buying players,i will not be disappointed again if he fail to buy but i am thinking he must have learnt a lesson from the pressure he was at the begining of the season.Should arsenal loose form or start loosing matches like the begining of the season,he should find where to hide cos the heat will be too much for him.I will advice Arsene to be firm and get his target players at once and stop procastinating. Cleverly,Smalling and Hendersen were suppose to be in Arsenal and Eden is also gone all because Wenger is not swift in his dealings.

Oh i get it….all that glitters is gold…its easy this fantasy football management. Get real…. football is a team game and you need team players…rejoice that things have turned around for us. Mata was punted as the buy of the season and some wanted him at Arsenal..anyone fancy our chances of finishing above Chelsea this year?..and they have 50 million Torres. Both these player would have been better players at Arsenal. If Arteta stays fit he will be touted as a great player by the end of the year. mario gotze is a world class player who had stepped up for his team at such an early age.if we get him and dont loose him at his age of 24 or 25 to barcelona then i think plenty of silvrwr in future..watched him playing against wolfsburg and scored two goals..GET HIM IN JAN AND 30 MILLION IS WORTH GETTING HIM
