Emmanuel Petit Says Arsenal Are A Club In Transition
Emmanuel Petit has fond memories of his time at Arsenal, but the former Frenchman is worried about the future and he has been speaking to the French newspaper L’Equipe about the current situation at his former club.
He started off by saying, “The defeat in the final of the League Cup has been devastating.” Tell us something we don’t know Emmanuel, but just to refresh your memories it is now just four wins in 18 Premier League games since that fateful day in February.
He continued on and said, “The club is in a transitional phase. It is also at a crossroads, sporting and economically. If he (Arsene Wenger) continues to sell its best players, it’s dead. I can understand that Arsenal is in line with an economic logic, but to drop Fabregas and Nasri is a disaster, especially for the players who remain. Arsenal can not afford to lose such elements and show that it has no further ambition.”
We are all aware of the situation, but I do not beleive that Arsene Wenger lacks ambition. The board maybe, Ivan Gazidis yes, but Arsene Wenger no despite what some of you on this forum may think.
Petit is most concerned about the Arsenal midfield and said, “They most lack mind and character. I do not understand why Arsene did not take Scott Parker or Joey Barton.”
I couldn’t agree more Scott Parker would have been a snip a £5million, but que sera sera as they say.
Petit also had words to say about the defence and said, “And the defence, playing at a high level with this defence for several seasons now is impossible. There was, however, players who could strengthen it, like Gary Cahill, but Arsene did not go looking for them either, because of money, no doubt.”
Well we all know what happened with Bolton in the summer and we remain hopeful that Cahill or someone similar can be signed in January.
Despite of all what Petit said he still thinks Wenger is the man to take Arsenal forward and he finished off by saying, “At full strength, Arsenal still has a great team but it is never complete with all these injuries. I keep faith in Arsene. I hope the players think like me. The worst thing for Arsenal would be for Wenger to leave.”
We are in a transitional period of that there is no doubt, but we hope the players think like Petit as well and believe they are great. Sport is played in the mind as well as on the pitch and if we go out on Sunday with the right attitude and believe we can win, which I believe we can, then there is no doubting that we will.

Why does every one think that Arsen or the board do not know what to do? the reason is simple this so called the board wince at the prospect of spending any penny.They have buried their heads in the sand like an ostrich. They have also forgotten the meaning of the word investment as regards players who do the footballing on the pitch. they risk killing the club now gazidis has even started talking about life outside the champions league he should resign go look for some other business to manage not soccer

I just wonder if anyone posting here to ask spending more have ever mortgage’s their house, while they finding hard to repaying their monthly mortgage and knowing the salary were just enough to do so. They still demanding the best quality of furniture that could win them more friends by buying more inflated luxury furniture from other’s even he himself are one of the best furniture manufacture. While in the end he left his manufacture furniture in the warehouse for not using them because they only manage to put some in the living room due to the limited space. And all of this just try to competed with some lotto winner who constantly change their furniture and dump some 30-50 millions of their best quality furniture in reserve just for fun and showing their overwhelming spending power. If I manage to meet one these person in the real world, I’ll call this person stupid by trying to pretend someone he not really financially capable of do so.
Even he manage to raise the bar to £200k, the other could just easily double it with no hesitate. Do you think etihad highest limit is just 250k? If they wanted to do so they could go for 300-400k for a person they really need and don’t feel a pain.

Goodness me, Petit has restored my faith in former players.
Larson was having a dig at Arsenal that no one fear us any more and that they beat us in Carling cup final. He forgot what Arsenal hoodoo can do to you. Ask Leeds United or David Bentley. I would be careful to take swipe at Arsenal Mr Larson because Bentley did and his football appear to be going in reverse. First reduced to playing with stiffs at Spuds, then loan to Wet Spam and now knee operation?

Who could decide who become the board member when saying wenger is trying keeping the board happy with no huge spending? Could anyone tell me how to kick the biggest share holder gazidis n kroenky out of the board?
I think the only way is to buy the club back with our money and subsidy the players wages and transfer fees with our money. The Club is in debt at this moment, the board member are unwilling to pay the price from their own pocket. Unless we could sell the club to said Mubarak or Gardafi son who have billions of $$$ and know nothing about football but only the trophies and fame they wanted.

D.Bergkamp I know, the guy seen willing to spend big and I heard he has critics the board for not spending. Usmanov know nothing about football but he willing to open the wallet so that we could easily buy Cahill etc?(If we have Usmanov do we still looking at Cahill? we’ll go for world best)
Why the British so unwilling to sell to Russian, why!!! Lets be realistic and forget about pride and look at M.C and Chelsea, trophies are better than pride. Go on and sell it to Usmanov!!! All the share holding should phone Usmanov the next morning and sell him the share so that he can gain power over the club!!
