Fabregas denies Barcelona link yet again, yet again, yet again!
Even though the transfer window is closed, the Spanish press just can’t stop themselves from trying to stir up trouble between Barcelona and Arsenal every time that Cesc Fabregas is in Spain, for whatever reason.
Okay, Barcelona have made no attempt to hide the fact that they will never stop harassing Arsenal until they let Fabregas return to the club where was nurtured, but why do they have to keep asking the same questions over and over AND OVER!
This time they had a new twist to the tale, with the enquiry being focused on whether he had any connection to one of the main rivals to Joan Laporta for the role of Barcelona president next year, who has also intimated that he may make a promise to bring Cesc to Spain as part of his campaign.
Of course, Fabregas again denies there is any link. “I have not spoken to anyone at the moment,” he said. “There is nothing. I do not know if I will leave the Premier League next year. I am happy and it is an important year for the club. I have not spoken to anyone, if something has to happen it will happen, but currently there is nothing.”
He was then asked if Real Madrid had ever made any overtures towards signing him: “Two or three years ago, there was something. Real Madrid and its fans have always been very good to me and for that I will be forever grateful. There has never been anything serious with another team since I joined Arsenal.”
That has never stopped the Spanish press though. Just last week, the Sport said that Laporta was going to make another concerted effort at Christmas to lure Fabregas to Barcelona, as he wants to have the legacy of bringing home the prodigal son before next years presidential elections.
Fabregas responded to that by again saying that he knew nothing, but worryingly repeated that he would wait and see how Arsenal did this year before deciding anything. “I know all about the speculation about Barcelona but you have to understand I am a professional and I am an Arsenal player,” he said again. “We have made a good start and we can go on to do good things this season. As a youngster I admired Guardiola and Michael Laudrup at Barca. I learned many things there, but it’s important to be yourself.
“You can never know what will happen in football, and it’s always an honor to be linked with a prestigious club like Barcelona, who I know all about. But let’s see how Arsenal does this season. I am sure we will win something soon.”
So it seems that this speculation is never going to let up. The only hope for Wenger is that he can persuade Cesc to sign a new extended contract, or hope that whoever wins next years presidential elections at Barcelona is not a Fabregas fan!

I think the spanish newspaper are just in the quest to bring Fabregas to Spain, not really to Barca, but seeing that Barca had already declared their interest, they prefer to make up a story with Barca. As for the Sport newspaper, that their weekly anthem. So expect another one this week. I think Arsenal fans should just ignore any negative comment about Arsenal FC. the more you talk about it, the more popular it becomes as Arsenal is with the largest fans online.
Yeah i agree with the last person, like for the pique incident, he was probably asked ‘would you like to see fabregas playing for barca next year’ and obviously he would say yes. Then the press go on and twist everything
Come on Pat, you’re better than this. You know it’s crap. I know you have 100% faith in the integrity and honesty of Cesc like all ‘Arsenal Fans’ ….. so why bother writing about it.
Having to keep reassuring doubters must be frustrating for Cesc, since it shows him what they must think about him. It’s like saying he’s a liar and he’s done nothing to deserve such disrespect.
