Fabregas to undergo TWO medicals this morning before signing Barca contract
Arsenal and Barcelona have finally agreed terms for the Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas and the Spaniard is set to be presented to the press as a Barcelona player at 1 p.m. this afternoon (BST).
The BBC reports that Arsenal have accepted just £30m for Fabregas with an extra £5m depending on the trophies won by team with him in it. Arsène Wenger said: “We have been clear that we didn’t want Cesc to leave and that remains the case. However, we understand Cesc’s desire to move to his home town club and have now accepted an offer from Barcelona. We thank Cesc for his contribution at Arsenal and wish him future success.”
But there is the small matter of the medicals to be got through first before Fabregas can officially sign his contract, and that is not a foregone conclusion when you consider that the 24 year-old has been suffering from ongoing hamstring problems for the last two years.
Fabregas will start with a hospital medical at 7 a.m. and will then have a second one at Barca’s medical centre at 9.30. If all goes well he will sign the contract at 11.30 ready for his unveiling at 1 p.m…

i think he picked the wrong time to leave..man utd is so depleted i dont care what anyone says..de gea is a basket he will let all them shots in..he could have won the league with nasri and the boys this year..and left next year fulfilled. yes folks man utd is going to battle to stay in the top four…if u think cleverly wellbeck smalling young jones are title contenders then u must really not know the squad we had last season… if we had cesc and nasri.. we would have finished first, liverpool second, chelsea third, man city fourth, man chester fifth..true story..

@Mr tee – the same could be said the season after Flamini, Hleb and then Adebayour left. OR if we managed to sign a keeper last year OR a new CB mid-season instead of waiting for Verminator to come back…

Imagine if he fails the medical and has to come back with in shame. As the article says it’s not a foregone conclusion unless you believe that he was never actually injured and was actually being dropped. If he did have all those injuries it’s quite possible that he could fail his medical. He was constantly talking last year about not quite being over his hamstring injury.

Cesc was a top class player and I’m sad to see him go bit I’d say AFC did more for him than he did for the club. As far as replacements go I’d go for either Marvin Martin or renato augusto of levernkusen. If nasri goes i’d like to see Douglas costa or Ayew

Goober fresh i agree with your picks. I believe that Arsene will act quickly to replace Cesc and Nasri, if he leaves. We won’t get a 25m+ signing and it’d be hard to replace Cesc with someone in that price range but i think Marvin Martin fits the bill. His club don’t want to sell but Sochaux is a small club, the player is just breaking into the national team so wants exposure and they’ll face a battle to keep him there. You can’t blame him for wanting to play in big matches when he’s had a taste of international football, scoring 2 and getting an assist on his debut. They fought off Lille and PSG already so we shouldn’t consider this one a certainty but it’s certainly possible. If Arsenal qualify for the CL Sochaux will risk serious fallout if they try to block his move.

Wenger should go get either 1) Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Daniele do Rossi, Estaban Cambiasso, Miguel Veloso or Tinga Palmeiras. Either of the guys on this lis will be a great addition to the side. Cahill should be captured too. I would love hugo rodallega and Hazard too
I think Wenger must take courage to decide that the goal scoring capacity is empowered. That means adding an extra player to assist RVP upfront.

Walcott and Gervinho on the same side is terror on any side with the blistering pace that can be created. Hazard and Gervinho can both play both wings and assist in striking. The Three can interchange positions and cause Defenders to loose some players and loose goals. Bring in Alex Chaberlain in the final 25 minutes, depending on the match you have Gibbs, Arshavin, Rosicky, and Chamakh on the bench. You can remove Glassware RVP and save him to last the season by selecting any of the players on the bench. If Gibbs come in song moves to assist in DM, Vermerleen to the Centre and Gibbs to the Left back. You can romove Wilshere/Ramsey and ask Hazard and Gervinho to move to central midfield. You can remove Boith RVP and Rodegella/Walcott and Ask Gervingho to strike…So many changes to refresh the match and leave opposition wondering what next…
Mascherano 15M, Rodagella 15M Hazard 25M, Cahill (Optional as Song can fill in) 17M = Trophies in my view…

I wish i could agree with you Mr tee but i think that’s wishful thinking. There’s a reason why every pundit is picking United to win the league. It’s because they won it last year and (assuming De Gea improves) they’ve strengthened this year. The keeper was poor against Man City but i’d be very surprised if he makes a habit of such mistakes. I don’t think it’ll be as one-sided as they’re all predicting because they lost Scholes and Van der Saar with Giggs surely not being as influential this year but i’d still make them favourites. That’s my head but my heart says Arsenal will show that Cesc and Nasri didn’t make that much difference, the first half of last season wasn’t a fluke and that they’ve learnt from the defensive errors of the last few seasons.

One thing’s for certain. Failure to invest that money in new signing WILL lead to a backlash from us fans and rightly so. Love the club and support Wenger but spending yet another summer profitting from player sales is unforgiveable, especially considering qualification for Champions League is very much in the balance. Lose that and the club has noticeably taken a big step backwards with the board and manager standing by and letting it happen. It wasn’t just a small group chanting “spend some f***ing money” and at the Emirates on Saturday those chants will be deafening i’m sure.

Nasri next please, as for cesc i dnt think anyone in the squad is good enuff to replace him im not at all convince about ramsey hes a good player but not fully there yet. So wenger has to sign a quality player to replace cesc. I dnt think nasri departure will hinder us in anyway. Walcott and arshavin need to step their game up they were poor last season and judging by saturdays performance not alot has changed

@Mr Tee. the same was said of Man U last year and they still won the league. The truth is our play does not suit the EPL. it has changed from the days of viera, henry, bergkamp, overmars etc. where we are supposed to boot the ball out, we pass it and loose. no one shoots from outside the box but all barcelona players shoot when they get the slightest chance. Man U will win it again coz their manager does not pamper his players
