Ferguson – Arsenal are a one-man team
The Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is taking his team to the Emirates today looking for a win to keep them in touch with Man City at the top of the Premiership.
Man Utd are favourites in the English Soccer Odds and according to Ferguson all his team have to do is stop Robin Van Persie from scoring to make sure they don’t lose.
“It has become a case of stop Van Persie and you stop Arsenal,” Ferguson said. “His form has been fantastic this season and his goal record speaks for itself. I hope he doesn’t add to it this weekend.
“Arsenal have come to rely on him but I think you could say exactly the same thing about Barcelona. If you can stop Messi they are not the same team, and if you can stop Ronaldo then Real Madrid are not the same team. The very best teams always seem to have a player who can make a difference. Manchester City have David Silva, and for many years when he was at his peak Didier Drogba was a matchwinner for Chelsea.”
Are Arsenal really so one-dimensional that we can’t win if Van Persie has an off-day or gets marked out of the game. Perhaps today Theo Walcott or Andrei Arshavin should prove to Ferguson that this is not the case?

I don`t see `unleasing` Walcott and Asharvin will do much for Arsenal. I was looking forward to seeing RVP and Henry pair up in a 4-4-2 formation but someone chucked a bucket of cold water on that to.Fergie will be out to rub it in and personally I can`t see any other outcome. Would be nice to be wrong.

Ah, but what Ferguson is not mentioning is how Van Persie, Messi and Ronaldo ALL depend on the team around them to give them opportunities to score.

why is wenger rigid in his tactics? you said it man, we just do not have the required quality on the bench. apart from AOC & henry, there is nobody else who can make a positive impact. remember the fulham game in which wenger brought in squillaci to defend our 1-0 lead? that’s bcoz he simply had no other choice. we did have miquel, but his introduction in the man city game caused an instability in the defence which resulted in silva scoring the winner.
lack of squad depth is the reason why the man citys’ & man utds’ are ahead of us.

am an arsenal fan and am an advocate of good football,fergie is rite, arsenal is a one man team,I don’t see arsenal winning todays game but if they do,then I will be so surprise.mark out RVP then the team needs miracle for a goal. I wonder How many winter jackets and suits wenger will carry along with him to ease tension.I love arsenal but it is just another sinking boat with wenger and his policies,I tink wenger should be replaced a coach who finds joy being a contender for a fourth position instead of the trophy is no longer a goal getter.we shld consider the situation of clubs like leeds united,ipswitch city and nottingham forest,where re they now former epl sides. Most supporters are blind wen it comes to arsenal..
The board is arsenal and not us the fans or we would of spent some money and brought players that we need..sometimes u have to be cruel to be kind..7th in the league will make the board feel like us cos it will hit them in there bank balance…I don’t wanna lose, but we lost a very long time ago wen the board decided to keep profits for themselves & not give us wot we needed years ago..

be realistic, the codfather of football i sright, without rvp.we dont have any scorers ( pls prove me wrong today,) walcoot does not score enough , hes not biig enough to take on utd defdence, as for arshavin and rosicky, they have not scored between them for months, im just chamahk is away aswell, becasue if things are not going well, i would not like to see him come on to try to put things right, arshavin and rosicky should be taking conversions for some rugby team,, ipray we get a result today, but im realistic, if utd play to thier potential and we our defence paly like they did against swansea, , it will be nightmare at the emirates, plzzz arsenal players show us some fighting spirit some pride, showu deserve to wear the shirt,

The WORST defence in the entire premier league (25 goals conceded).
Top scorer: Van Persie – 18 league goals…
2nd top scorer: Gervinho – 4 league goals.
Without Van we’d have a goal difference of -11 and would be in the bottom half. You tell me if that’s not a one-man-team…

RvP will score as long as our midfield and wingers are assisting him. The only way Arsenal are going to beat United is if we use our wingers all the time, for two reasons – It spreads their defense, giving RvP space. Second of all, to actually cross the ball to RvP and whoever is in the goal area at the time. In order for our wingers to do their part, our midfield have to make use of them. Ramsey cannot afford another clumsy appearance, he needs to be quick and precise. We have seen him put through extraordinary balls before, I’m sure he can do it today. Arteta also needs to be more creative and use his pin point passing accuracy for our wingers to latch onto.
If the Ox does not play today, I will fly down to London and personally have words with Wenger, becaseu first of all, Arshavin isn’t good enough and lacks enthusiasm. The Ox is quicker, trickier and more accurate. Wenger should play him LW, and make use of both him and Walcott’s speed down the line. Playing United down the middle would be futile, as without Wilshere, we lack that quick one-two magic needed in a clustered goal area. Playing wide will be our safest bet. Let’s just hope Walcott ate his carrots for lunch, because we need him to be focused and his finishing to be spot on.
I worry with Djoure in defense. Mertesacker needs to grow a stache and harden up because the only way to beat United is to muscle up and get physical. Give guys like Nani,Carrick and Giggs too much room and it’s over.
Hard work, getting to the ball first and wide play will dismantle United. C’mon gunners!!!

Arteta has been immense ? Yea so immense we have been in the top four for about 2 mins this season! No one bar van persie has been immense and arteta was part of a panic driven spending spree – he has been good, im not trying to knock him, but if any of our players had been immense for us this season, maybe we would not be sitting in a close 5th, just edging out newcastle and holding off loserpool !
Without van persie we would hanging around the bottom of the table … wenger needs to address the problem very quickly and we better hope that van persie stays at the club.
