Francis Coquelin has a BIG future at Arsenal
Francis Coquelin has been somewhat of a muted revelation at Arsenal this season. Due to all our injuries and mishaps we haven’t really taken notice of some of our up and coming youngsters including Coquelin. The youngster was scouted by us during 2008 and joined thereafter. He successfully integrated into our club from going into the reserves and then maintaining a place before being loaned out. He went to Lorient in his native France for a season. It was definitely a good experience for the kid as he racked up 25 appearances for the club. His loan move was so successful that they wanted him back this year. However Wenger had other plans and he remained at Arsenal where slowly but surely is becoming a hit with the fans.
The thing I like about Coquelin is his technique. The boy has talent, there’s no doubt about that. He made his debut at Old Trafford and I admit, I didn’t know much about him. He played pretty well from what I saw and wasn’t really the reason for the hammering we got. Afterwards, we finally got players back and we didn’t see much of Coquelin through the October-November period. He seemed frustrated, as his interviews indicated, and was even considering moving. Fortunately Arsene talked the guy round and he is definitely doing a shift for us. He has come on at RB for us in recent weeks and has definitely been amazing in my opinion. His movement and attacking flair is great for a defensive midfielder. He also has a turn of pace that could a great addition to an already pacey Arsenal through the middle. He is also sound defensively, he does have his moments but that comes with a lack of experience at the top level. His flick to Walcott was sublime against Blackburn as well as his assist.
He has an abundance of talent and is definitely an Arsenal star for the future.

Cant agree more. He is tenacious. I can bet my house h is going to b beta than Song if gven chance and stays injury free. Wen Sagna is out, h is by far beta than Djouru at RB

‘All action midfielder’ as i like to describe him. He has done really well for a player so young an at a big club like arsenal, where sometimes the pressure can overwhelm players e.g. Traore.

I have been screaming for 6 months that this squad is much,much better than people make out.

This guy is brilliant. I know chamberlain is taking all the spotlight but he deserves as much credit as Chamberlain. He’s top quality. Its going to be difficult to get into the starting 11 in midfield ahead of Song but this guy is such as versitile player.
He can play anywhere! RB CDM ATTACKING MIDFIELDER WINGS.
Hes got great technique and believe he can play in a lot of positions. This is great. Exacaly the type of player we need. A versetile player and seen as Arsenal have generally many injurys in Defence and Midfield he will be playing week in week out.
Great player.
Also Chamberlain great player and dont forget Miquel and Yennaris. All these players are the future of Arsenal and you can clearly tell that they are all quality . Anyone who says different does not know what there talking about. Dont forget Ryo Miyachi.

For me coquelin is an all round player…he is great in defence n knws how to attack…n juz like chamberlain when he is dispossessed he wil alwayz chase after the ball…he can also get pass through playerz…future Arsenal team

Coquelin is an excellent player, and Wenger should find ways to keep him playing steadily. It’s hard to place him in the team ahead of Song but I’d give him a go ahead of Ramsey. He is faster, has good technique, and when dispossessed of the ball has the drive and fire in the belly to go and win it back. He could add to a little more speed and tenacity in Arsenal’s midfield. For me, I want to see Coquelin and Rosicky getting more playing time. Wenger could think more of rotating tired players with the fresh youngsters. Also agree with the comments of Santon81^.

Coquelin has been going about his job nice and quietly.
You can see he has good balance, good athletism, good technique and a long range passing ability. I think if he can work on his game to apply more energy in the middle of the park, like pass n move, he could challenge Rosicky.
Coquelin has a good engine and he can develop into a combination of Yavi, Iniesta and Viera. He is not one for the future, he should be getting his share of first team games. He is well ahead of Dhurui. We need points now, not costly mistakes.

There has been talk that Song is going to move on in the summer….PSG being the most likely club. I hope this isn’t true coz hes 1 of our best,an experienced warrior. But if it does we have a ready made replacement in Francis and i believe he will become better than Song,he is far more mobile.

I think some of you are building Coquelin up too much for what he has actually shown so far. He will at least be a good squad player though- but at the moment a jack of all trades rather than excelling at anything.

Its good that we have players like song,arteta,rosicky so players like ramsey,coquelin,AOC,ryo,miquel,bartley,yennaris,joel campbell,afobe etc (we goooot so many talents!!!) becuase they can grow in silence!

He’s going to be an Arsenal legend.
When he plays he reminds me/gives me that feeling that Paddy and Petit use to give that somethings gonna happen or a elevation when he makes a tackle. Very skillful, strong and direct. He’s still learning and spending time with Benayoun, RVP and Arteta has definately added a 3rd dimension to his games…..!
