Full Arsenal injury update – Fabianski’s back! (But nobody else I’m afraid)
Arsene Wenger had nothing but bad news for Arsenal fans ahead of the crucial match against Man Utd this weekend, well unless it can be considered good news that Fabianski will replace Almunia on the bench.
There were hopes that Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen could get fit in time for the game, but Wenger is extremely pessimistic about their chances.
Here is what Wenger said about Vermaelen: “At the moment I don’t think he will make it for Sunday. Let’s hope we have a good surprise. Let’s see how he develops. There may be a test. At the moment we just go day by day but he looks short.”
But he knows that Arteta definitely won’t play. “He has no chance. The earliest for him is Aston Villa.” he said.
As for the other (much needed) defenders, he says that Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs are both about three weeks away from fitness, while Carl Jenkinson “is back running but it will be a few weeks.” which is pretty much exactly what he said about Jack Wilshere.
Andre Santos is apparently progressing as expected but will still be another two months on the treatment table, and the youngster Francis Coquelin is close to recovery but Wenger doesn’t expect him to be ready before the Aston Villa match at the earliest.
Their could be good news about Thierry Henry though as “he will have a test on Saturday. He has a calf problem.” according to Wenger, but if he doesn’t make it does that mean that J.C.Park will finally get a place on the bench?
The one player that Wenger doesn’t even bother mentioning any more is Abou Diaby, but the latest news is that he is expected back in mid-March.
So anyone that was hoping that the Arsenal defence was going to be a little stronger this weekend is going to be extremely disappointed…

Bummer. That is going to be one fragile defence, lucky Man Utd are misfiring at the moment otherwise it might be ugly again. Need a big performance from the boys this weekend, bounce back like we did against Chelsea.

am only worried of two scenarios here, That is wev been so used to Arteta in that midfield and its sad we missing Vermaleen the arsenal defence commander. so sad Gevnihno is away too and Henry who could have replaced him is facing injury woes. We will never beat man u if this is the case!!!!

We can nail something out of nothing.
# We have a decent GK and a not so bad deputy.
# At RB we might need one more young lad. It can give us a third option and he could give a little competition for Jenkinson.
# At CB sell both Sqid and Djourou. Just bring back Bartley and promote Miquel as a replacement. We have 3 good CB now. TV5 and KOS6 should start. Believe me Mertsacker will be good next season. He is adapting well(remember koscielny last season). This can enable a good rotation policy and hence less injury.
# At LB buy someone who is not older than 23. Cant count on Gibbs and Santos. Both are injury prone.
# At Midfield sell Benayoon, Rosicky, Diaby. Bring back Lansbury, promote Coquilien and Frimpong. Arteta can lead them all with his experience. there is no point in keeping rosicky just coz he is experienced. And we have Jack and Aaron ofcource!
# At RW bring someone below 25 if Theo leaves. Else promote Ox.
# At LW just give more chances for Ryo. And Gervinho will be way better next season.
# At ST buy someone who is of age 22-25. If RVP leaves replace him with some quality player above 25 age(preferably Podolski). And promote Joel Cambell. Sell all other so called strikers.
THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD DO NEXT SUMMER. BUT ALL THE CURRENT PLAYERS AND COACH SHOULD PRODUCE A REALLY MAGICAL PERFORMANCE TO FINISH THIS SEASON IN TOP 4. AS ARSENE DONT GET ANY SUPPORT FROM THE BOARD, WE THE SO CALLED FANS, SHOULD BACK OUR TEAM TILL THE END. WE SHOULD ALSO RAISE OUR VOICE AGAINST THE BOARD……………………

Well were f,cked this team is no better than the one that got beat 8-2 I’m dreading Sunday I really am wish we had vermallen and sanga back would fancy are chances then anyday arteta will be missed big time we half to have the worst luck for injures when we most need them but then there should be good players ready to replace them wenger is to reliant on the 1st team players so when they get injured there’s nobody good enough to step in and do the job right that’s why we loose points that should have been ares for the taking

What will happen is this, we will lose but maybe by only one goal.
The team will put in a spirited performance, but will come up just short of a draw or a win. Wenger will say something like; “on another day it could have been us who wins.” Injuries will be blamed again, and us Arsenal fans will be left feeling frustrated. 8-2 or 1-0 a loss is a loss.
Several fans on here don’t believe we will win. Is that confidence from fans of a team who is chasing trophies. Or a fan base who knows there team is not what it once was. Last season and the season before we fans accepted losing to the likes of united, we blamed it on inexperience and young age. Now we don’t even have that excuse.
I hope we win, just to restore the fans pride. But it will not erase the doubts that have been growing, by watching this team play over the last 2 months.

Szczesny – Djourou, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Miquel – Walcott, Song, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain – Arshavin, RvP.
Something along those lines vs Manchester United – only going to be one winner I’m afraid.
United’s wingers (ie where United are most effective, where most of their best play and goals come from) are going to take Djourou and Miquel apart. Djourou will never be good enough, and I feel sorry for Miquel – will be a good defender but playing out of position vs the skills and pace of Nani/Valencia is not going to do his confidence any good at all.
With Vermaelen and Sagna at full-back I would give Arsenal a good chance of winning this game; with Djourou and Miquel I give Arsenal no chance.
United to win by two clear goals at the very least, triggering a tragically predictable New Year collapse for the Gunners.

Arsenal have so many injuries because we make pointless passes, run for nothing, are not efficient with the ball and can’t hit the target.
It’s proven that we do far less running per game than Man United. The opta stats demonstrate this. Success must be somehow linked to effort. Our play has become progressively slower over the past few seasons and we don’t dominate posession like we used to. Swansea and Fulham are testament to that.
Sick of the same old injury excuses that we have every season. It’s getting rather tedious.

we need usmanov to take over…kroenke has not done anything of note with the club.He has hardly invested any money into arsenal. we need a billionaire sugar daddy like usmanov if we are to sign world class footballers and keep on competing for trophies. it is unfortunate but thats exactly what a football club needs to compete these days. we cant seem to attract any toop player to arsenal these days. we can niether pay the salaries offered by the giants in football and nor the transfer fees. football is a dog eat dog world and if we dont show the desire to become the number one club we will see our players being poached. i cant believe what we have become now. Just 6 or 7 years ago we were on par with man u. just see where we stand now..

I am afraid we gonna get whopped by man u, after watching the last couple of games arsenal has been very lethargic and short of ideas. I am gonna quote wenger “it would be stupid to lose points due to lack of full backs” with so many injuries to our best players it would be a miracle if we win. It’s all wenger fault he knew his team is weak instead of strengthening the squad he plays the same player over and over again (high risk for injuries). I hope RVP doesn’t get hurt he is our only hope! So sad.

How times have changed, it was just last season where we had 4 world class players now we only have 2. Vermealen and RVP. when there used to be injuries, it wouldnt matter but it does now. It really mskes me want to give up because our team, even at best have a lot of problems: At best we have a good defence sagna verm kosc santos( we need new left back). Our midfield is dreadful Song and wilshere are very good as centre mids but when they get injured there is only Arteta to replace because rosicky and benayoun are more like forwards. We have NO creative midfielders. (ramsey must stay on bench or go on loan) our front line is decent: van persie great gervinho very good but walcott we should use as impact sub and buy a new first team winger. Amd we need a striker sub who can actually score eg. Defoe for tootenham or Hernandez for mufc. Last season all we needed was a new striker and centre back if he did that cashri wouldnt of left and we could of bought a good replacement for fabregas because he would still leave.

Why is everyone so pessimistic? I’m sick of hearing, “we going to lose” or, “This team is going to lose 8-2 again”. I mean sure the is a good chance that we may lose, but anything can happen.
If Newcastle beat Man U, I’m sure we can beat Man U! Things happen! We still have players who can spark something, and maybe come out with a goal or 2!

am not gonna watch this match, the best we can get is 3-1 defeat from Man U, imagine smaller teams are buying to build stronger teams and we have a coach experimenting.Playing hard to get and looking for £1million players to buy, Wenger has been linked with several good players playing in EPL but he refused to buy.
