Gaz: It’s Groundhog Day – Wenger Style!
Nothing will change next season by Gaz
Gael Clichy has gone to Manchester City. Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas will shortly follow him out of the Emirates exit door. Arsene Wenger won’t be willing to spend the money needed replace these players. So expect cheap, second rate players, probably from France, to be brought in to do a job for us next season. Its official folks, Arsenal FC is in a crisis.
Next season will be a rollercoaster ride, as per usual, with some pretty goals here and there, and some stupid defensive errors too. We will look fantastic in certain games, and we will look pathetic in others. We will score very few goals from set-pieces, and concede many. Our manager will kick water bottles from time to time, and throw his arms up in the air to show us his frustration too.
The fans will get on the players backs when we drop points against teams we should really be beating. We will struggle to finish in the top four of the Premier League, and go out of the Champions League probably just after the group stage. If we DO somehow scrape fourth place, then the season will be hailed as a success by Wenger, and he will remind us all that the team is still very young. If we DON’T manage to finish fourth, it will be described as disappointing campaign, but not a disaster.
The money we will make from player sales in this transfer window alone, will be around £70m, if you include Denilson and Bendtner as well. We will see some of our favourite players leave, because the club no longer matches their ambition, and I would be amazed if we spent even half of what we make from these departures, on bringing new players in. So whatever we achieve or don’t achieve from August 2011 to May 2012, one thing is for sure, Arsenal FC will have made a lot of money regardless.
Its sad that our club is being run the way it is currently, and no doubt more and more fans will become frustrated as yet another year passes by without a trophy. But what can we do really? We all love this club, and we will always continue to love this club no matter what. The board knows this, and therefore can abuse their power from time to time, as they did with the rise in season ticket prices. Its not fair, but why should they care? They won’t change the way they run the club until they see their profits dwindling.
I think the only way we will ever see Arsenal FC challenge for the biggest prizes again, is for Arsene Wenger and the entire board be replaced. The ambition of too many people within this club is to make money, rather then lift silverware. For years we used to get the balance right, but now the scales have tipped so far in the direction of profit, that trophies come in a very distant second place.
Time will tell if my prediction is correct, and let me add that I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong. But as I write this, our manager and chief executive have done nothing but sign cheap youngsters for the future, and seem to be ignoring the problems that need fixing TODAY.

Boycott from Emirates, stop buying Arsenal products this will make them realize that The board of Directors,Ceo and Wenger should resign from their posts to save Arsenal. The only thing matters to them is money, with no mercy to the fans.We can move on without Wenger. We now have six years without a trophy and all the manager can say we’ve been playing UEFA champs lg what is good about it since we cant win it?Every we were close just because we did face some injuries!!!!Are we the only club hit by injuries? It seems we fans are also part of the problem because we keep crying with no action and keep holding the stupid idea “in wenger we trust”.Why keep complaining?

Hmm yes this piece mirrors my thoughts. It will be a very painful season, with 5 more to follow. I agree with the sack manager and executives thoughts, we must spend the big money to stay in the hunt. We are a top team, but are starting to fall by the way side. It’s hard to watch

it is stupid how we gather 60 mill in 3 players such as Fabregas, Nasri and clichy.. yet players like alexis sanchez or fernando torres are 50+ mill each… not only the board is stupid with is policies but with the sales as well.
Sure i would love to see how this football club becomes the north London construction company. Yet i will expect denilson and almunia to be offered headquarter positions, it seems that the money we lost every week in their salaries is no matter to anybody, not to speak about squillaci, rosicky, diaby, bendtner and eboue.
As for my concern i would not buy the 2011/12 kit :”fund our construcutions and further profit, forget about victoria concordia crescit” or haven’t you check the tag of the new kit. I would not buy any until i see players of the stature of Bergkamp, Wright, Parlour, Henry, Viera, Adams.. the footballers that made a gunner.

My wife and I spent over 3000 quid to fly from the US to London to watch 2 Arsenal games earlier this year and my entire family purchases new kits annually.
In addition, during my stay in London I made quite a few purchases from the store as gifts for friends and even paid to attend the official Emirate’s tour.
Until Kroenke sees fit to change for the better I’m already on strike.
I’ve just about had enough of this crap.

Not a very good article that just shows how pessimistic and how easy you believe those tabloids. I for one still believe that Arsenal have the chance to win any silverware next season and prove you doubters wrong, we still have players like ramsey, wilshere, lansbury, possibly gervinho and others to replace nasri and fabregas. Yes, players that WANT to play for Arsenal

You all know how Arsene Wenger says he doesn’t read the news; what if the fans took a banner that reads, ‘Lair Mr Wenger, OUT!!’ right opposite his dug-out where he can have a better view (as he hardly sees anything), he may actually for the 1st time know that the fans are fed up with him and that they have been for a long time! It’s just that no one has been bold to tell him.
He should quietly retire into a mental home as I believe the man is sick upstairs…

Gud article but i wonda if wenga & the board have access to this information. many of these have been written but yet nothing happens.in actual fact i blaim the fans in europe bcos they cry & yet waste their resouces in building up the pockets of the board by purchasing kits & tickets 4 games.why can u rebel against this crups & force them change their stupid & childish philosophy.the most painful aspect of it al is the saying that ‘in asene we trust. To me that is the moto of foolish & stupid fans.

In so far as I love the Arsenal football club, I will not be renewing my or my son’s memberships until I see either Wenger leave or some silverware this season. I know my membership is only a Red and my son’s Junior Gunners but I am only making a statement. I am also currently number 30,000+ on the waiting list for full membership but at this rate I will forfeit that too if the situation hasn’t chnged by the time I get to buy.

If a trophy isn’t won in this new season or no significant improvement made from last season then Mr Wenger’s position will be compromised. Signings will need to measure up to those being replaced. It was very disappointing to hear Wenger say expect no new signings till the end of July as it would have made some sense for these players to be here to take part in the pre season tour. Also will the players we’ve consistently been linked with still be available and interested! Crunch time, critical season. Carl Jenkinson being the only signing thus far doesn’t impress me in the slightest!

Cesc Fabregas is going nowhere but back to Emirates next season. Nasri has much less loyalty so I could care less what he does at this point, I’d take Valbuena and or Alvarez ASAP. We need Samba and another defender by this week. Gervinho should be the first official signing any day now but I’m certainly not elated about it even though he should be a good addition. Arsenal’s true saviour will be RVP fit for at least three quarters of a season. We’d get 30 goals out of him no problem.

Clichy is on of the reasons we have not won anything for the past 6yrs (birminham blunder stll fresh in mind). Citing that as a reason for leaving is disgusting. Just go and enjoy your money and kiss regular team action bye. Welcome to the world of Adebayo, Hleb etc. Let me remind all deseters like him of Owen movement to Real for UCL and that same year Liverpool won UCL. Who knows it might be Arsenal’s time to shine

they offer players on loan and get rid of deadwood
yet they can buy Sanchez and our capitan at 35m a piece
and Wenger is searching for a 11m rated french player to Fabregas and Gervinho to replace Nasri

Pretty accurate in the way we are feeling right now. But lets be honest, we are football fans and most importantly – Arsenal fans. As soon as the lads step out onto the pitch in August we will be right behind them REGARDLESS. My season ticket has been renewed and I know Ill be buying both new shirts. Could I not go to the games and not buy a shirt as a protest – of course not. Im I gutted by what is happening right now YES!
I just pray that we bring in some players with ability, but most importantly want to wear the Arsenal shirt. I want to see players give everything on the field for the team – and if they do and we dont get a result – I can live with that.
Cahill, Samba, Alvarez and Gervinho would give us strength, experience and flair. Tommy V could easily play at left back like his Ajax days if Cahill and Samba sign. Alvarez could step right into our midfield and Gervinho would be great alongside RVP if Wenger switches to a 442 – lets hope so.
Keep the faith and keep believing lads……

wenger MUST splash the cash this summer BIG TIME and if he doesnt then were in for a long long season and with the competition as fierce as its ever been at the top of the league, finishing in the top 4 isnt a guarantee…..BIG BIG SUMMER FOR US!!!!

You do not seem to know much about the recent Arsenal financial situation and Directors’ profit motive. All shareholders will know there have been NO DIVIDENDS. Nor have the Directors been paid huge salaries. They were mostly very rich already.
Better to concentrate on the fact that they are mainly elderly, know little about football and have failed to stand up to Wenger ever since David Dein left. Lady Bracewell Smith is 100% right.

Well said and I think its obvious these guys either dont care a hoot about fans opinions or they genuinely do not read these articles and thus do not know the groundswell against Arsene’s philosophy which has proved disasterous. There is no point continuing like this. So a boycott is just the answer, even if its just for one game, say the season opener. That will be hard to ignore and will shake things for us. How can a sane man be planning to replace Cap. Fabulous with a 16 year old? That is pure madness, no disrepect to the young player from the Catalans though. But thiis is plain stupid!

Rubbish! Clichy left – a poor LB who has never replaced the best left back in the world – wenger let him leave – if he wanted him to stay he would have made an improved contract offer – Nasri has been on international duty and on holiday – you can sign a contract if your not there!!! And fabregas is the reason we play slow boring build up football, for Wenger to rebuild this squad we need to let Fab leave! If you want to boycott the club you are NOT a proper fan – you follow the team through thick and thin you take the bad times and celebrate the good.
Ask Leeds fans who have followed them to the depths of league football how to support a football club, ask how many of them gave up when they declined – we are no where near that place, we arent winning leagues yes, but we are a financially stable club who doesnt have the money to go out and buy who ever we want – we never have been that club one of our greatest ever players cost 11 million pounds a certain unknown and failing winger called Thierry Henry.
If this article shows how you all feel about the club and your gonna boycott it – then good – it means the football club i love wont be supported by media junkies who believe everything they read!!!

@ Gaz and his supporters
Boring! Yet again! Your articles amuse me because they simply have no substantial facts, just gibberish nonsense and opinionated views lacking extensive research, logical deduction and common sensed reasoning. The points you make are completely catawampus to the real events unfolding behind closed doors.
Where do you pluck out your imaginary figures and statements? You show little understanding as to how corporate business entities operate and the strategic diligence required that comes with spending millions of dollars.
Your analogies of how we will compete with other teams next year is totally preposterous and reveals a lack of in depth football knowledge. You are making assessments based on the team we have currently without the thought of prospective transfers that will solidify the team. Your proclivities to rant on about hypothetical situations is prosaic and unoriginal. Your paroxysms of verbal rage is not only annoying but discloses your immature thought processing and low levels of understanding.
You speak of sacking the Board and Wenger like it’s easy as changing underwear. You are ungrateful and unappreciative of Wenger’s success for Arsenal and quick to point a culpable finger. If you want to start making a difference, rather than boycotting the team you apparently support, try to instigate a positive movement amongst fans. You must be a closet Man Utd supporter tossing over Scholes comments about “how attractive football doesn’t win games”. 49 games undefeated and 2 double league cups later, what’s that? A figment we conjured through creative imagination?
It’s sad to see Arsenal fans gullible to BS media propaganda, but it’s worse to read articles from a supposed Arsenal fan kicking his own team when they’re down! My respect for you is evanescent as your statement pertaining to our chances of winning trophies.
My florilegium of “Just Arsenal” posts is evidence of your faux pas. Wake up, stop writing or just shoot yourself to save the embarrassment and my having to submit a conflagration of thoughts to burn you!
Still call yourself a true and loyal Arsenal fan Gaz? PATHETIC!!!!

So we write articles again and again about how lousy Wenger is at the transfer market? And we moan again and again about how we would like things to change? And I say WE because we ‘re all together in this as fans. Even if I’m from Greece and have never been at the Emirates nor Highbury once. I feel we shouldn’t split our opinions and be so fanatic about it. The thing is we are all dissapointed, but there is no point having no faith in what the team represents. Wenger has been running the club in a certain way since his appointment and until 2005 it was a success. He always bought ‘gems’ for cut-prices and always bet on young talent. We should all accept that fact. Six trophyless years is a lot to swallow but what can you do about it? Sure you can boycott going to the Emirates but that would enduce even more damage to the teams finances and the players psychology as well(playing in an empty home). I’m not pointing finger to anybody here, I’m just saying that it’s a well known fact that we the fans are dissapointed. I really hope Nasri doesn’t follow Clichy through the exit door. We can all send letters to the board and Mr. Wenger but we all know that nothing will change unless Arsene wants it to. So what is there left to do? PATIENCE OR STOP SUPPORTING ARSENAL FC.
WE ARE CALLED GOONERS AS IN ARSENAL SUPPORTERS NOT ARSENAL MOANERS. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE MANAGER, THE BOARD, MOST OF THE PLAYERS, THE NEW KIT DESIGN, THEN WHAT IS LEFT? YOU SIMPLY ADMIRE THE GOOD OLD DAYS?
WAKE UP AND REALISE THE SITUATION. KEEP SUPPORTING.
That is all.

The pro wenger brigade just don’t seem to understand. other teams like man utd, barcelona even liverpool are in worse financial situation than arsenal but STILL spend money to remain competitive and to win trophies. Liverpool reinvested ALL the money from the torres sale to buy players. arsenal uses just a fraction of money from player sales to buy CHEAP and relatively unknown players.
and then when we fall short, the excuses from AW start. we are too young, the referee, the pitch, playing matches on sunday, playing too many matches. what else? kicking a bottle on the sidelines, lying to fans in the transfer window. bendtner is like a new signing back form injury ETC ETC it’s PATHETIC!!
Though shareholders dont take dividends, their profits come when the share price rises and they sell!!
Players and most fans with common sense have had enough and I applaud them!
IN WENGER WE RUST!! VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!

It’s to early to say whether we’re in crisis. I think the media has a lot play in how we’re being made to feel, compounded by the inexplicable silence from Wenger and the board over transfers. Every day since the transfer window opened we’ve been linked to signings and in the case of Alvarez & Chamberlain that we had actually signed them when it was not the case. The media are starting these lies and then embellishing them on a daily basis because they don’t actually have anything to report purely because very few clubs, barring Man U and Sunderland have actually been active in the market yet. A bit of calm is required and I would suggest not bothering to read the newspapers and watching skysports news, they know b*llox all about what is actually happening & seem to be enjoying putting the boot into our club. Wenger & the board will be judged come the start of the season and the closure of the transfer window. Nasri, Fabregas and all the other light weights should go, they showed no heart during last season & are the main reason for our failure (Wenger also for not buying a centre back in January when it was blatantly obvious we needed an extra body in there). It will be interesting to see who we have and don’t have come August, I’m pretty sure things are not going to be as bad as we’re being made to think. The media have had it in for Arsenal for years, every year for I don’t know how long the papers have written us off before the season has even started and have foreseen (and tried to orchestrate) a complete melt down at the club just because a few players are apparently wanting to leave. Don’t believe the lies and use your own eyes, keep supporting, frankly you have no choice if your a real Gooner.

The truth is, we are at a very critical stage where we need to adress isues that determine the stand and future of arsenal, wenger and the board have done enough damage not to the repute of the club but we fans have also lost the commanding respect, image chelsea fans talking and continue splashing abusive words on arsenal.
this call for quick reaction and the only very best way we can tell wenger his service and that of board is not longer requireD is BOYCOTT. this is very difficult but we just need to do it cos without us they cant exist to be arsenal in isolation, they need us more than we need.

Martie – If you read what I wrote properly you will see I never actually said I am happy about the current state of affairs – just that I will not believe the media speculation about our players – nor will I boycott the football club just because of the manager and the board – I will be there every step of the way as every season, and if fans reactions to wenger not spending massive amounts of money and letting players leave is to boycott the club then in my opinion you are not supporting your club.
Your an inbecile, you resort to insults and emotional reaction rather than rational thinking. If your support for your club was true then you wouldnt be thinking of boycotting the club just becuase of the wenger and the board.
I am fully aware that the Arsenal will still be the Arsenal long after Wenger has left, as before he came i loved the Arsenal all the same and supported George Graham (and Bruce Rioch for his short time) in all the same way – but i also know that the man cares so deeply for the club and wants to be a winner – do i agree with his transfer policy? keeping players like almunia, denilson, bendtner on the wage bill? no I dont agree with either of those things, will this make me boycott arsenal football club – not a hope in hell!
My wish would be for wenger to get someone like David Dein back to force his hand in the transfer market, but thats not my choice. I would like to see all the players you mentioned leave the club, but I wont hate Arsene for not releasing them. I would love to see the Arsenal, the club i love have a world class back 5 like in our defensive hayday of the early 90s but that back 5 cannot easily be replaced. I would love to see an attacking line up including players like vieira, pires, ljungberg, henry and bergkamp but there will never be a better attacking force in the premier league.
Yes i am frustrated at this club, i want us to be the best team in world, but so does every fan of every club. Will my support be strong next season, 100% yes because i support the club and whoever is incharge of it.
You start calling me arsehole, prick but have no facts – you name players you dont want at your club, which I never said I was happy about having. But also remember the fall of other clubs and all the problems there over Arsene’s Reign we have always made top four, look at a proud club like Liverpool – with a massive history of winning (much bigger than our own) they have dipped in and out of title contention and Uefa Cup action – yes theyve won champions leagues in that time, but we should have won a champions league and Wenger know that himself.
Get your facts straight, and sit down little boy. I will see you protesting at the Emirates Cup im presuming????

Gunnersfan – When was the last time Liverpool, Man United or Barcelona moved to a brand new stadium which cost in excess of £400 million pounds? Maybe you dont understand buisness? Maybe you dont remember the amount of money spent on the new ground? and Maybe you have missed the point of the ‘Pro Wenger Brigade’??

Honestly, who can DARE say Wenger is the most useless coach?
I do not always like the way he deals with transfers but the only CON the man has is that he’s maybe a bit too soft on his players. If he were meaner (like Alex Ferguson) he’d have a different influence on the team and I really believe he could achieve different results. That may have gone both ways. Whenever I read a comment about disregarding Wengers abilities I just stop reading. I don’t know much about football but I know that Wenger is a better manager that all of us in here would dream of becoming.

i admit wenger was a special coach at one time but face it guys times have changed and he hasnt, he cant adjust his tactics to teams like stoke, he puts bentner on the wing, when has bentner ever been a winger ?????, the guy is 6ft odd tall, hes most effective up front or in the box, basic things like these he cant even figure out, he plays denilson in midfield, even the referee ran past denilson in a game i remember, it comes to show how super fast our brazillian star denilson is, im not even going to talk about his lack of passing, save that for another day, why are all the players leaving ??????, please answer that question ????, its because they know they aint gonna win shit at arsenal, their not stupid, maybe we should stop being sstupid, like i said before, stop buying kits, dont renew season tickets and dont go to emirates to watch the games, just watch it on telly and laugh at the jokers, all i can say is that this is not the arsenal i once loved and supported

Gunzblazin, I suggest you put your gun back in it’s box and start supporting Man City as you appear to be firing blanks! City will offer you ‘better value for money’, because that’s what sport and supporting a team is all about isn’t it..money..yep, course it is! Step in stone & man up, if you don’t like it go and spend your money & breath somewhere else, preferably up north.

@ Matt
1)You say: “Oh and gunnersfan its Revolution – Very close Evolution something you learn more about as the years go on!”
My answer: Here’s something where you could learn MATT. Revolution is spelled with a “C” in Spanish = revolucion!! you need to broaden your horizons mate!
2) You say: “Gunnersfan – When was the last time Liverpool, Man United or Barcelona moved to a brand new stadium which cost in excess of £400 million pounds? Maybe you dont understand buisness? Maybe you dont remember the amount of money spent on the new ground? and Maybe you have missed the point of the ‘Pro Wenger Brigade’??”
My answer: for your info, i do know about business maybe even more than AW himself. First of all, WHO is paying the debt on the stadium? AW and the board? No, a substantial part of it is by the fans who contribute to matchday revenue (the club’s greatest source of income), merchandise, membership etc. you don’t think the fans deserve some return on their investment? AW is not doing charity work – he is getting paid to do a job! too much as well. why don’t he go down in salary in relation to the debt on the stadium!?
It does NOT mean that because of the stadium, you can’t spend money. it’s all about debt management and arsenal has it in place with debt on the stadium to be payed off over a longer period of time. How do you think Man Utd, Barca, Liverpool do it?
Also, Arsenal are recording PROFITS years after year and gets money from player sales. You don’t think that money from player sales should be reinvested!??! you don’t think that new QUALITY players have marketing value as well, which the club can recoup?
So either get some perspective or don’t bother commenting on my posts!!

@ Gunnerfan!
Pro Wenger fans, as I, choose to be patient & optimistic rather than just abusing players, coaches and the Board. As you said, Wenger is not a fool and has consistently kept Arsenal competing at the top echelon in Europe. Let’s just give him a break, the man deserves some slack.
You mention teams like Man U, Barca and Liverpool with massive debt but still spending big. Well, let me explain that Man utd, Barca, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are teams that get paid double Arsenal for TV coverage and commerical contracts. As for Liverpool, they’ve invested 20M in a teenager who hasn’t even played a full season of football with the big boys. Is this the spending you want Arsenal to commit to? Is it justified? Where have Liverpool been in the last 10-15 years? They are desperate to gain CL entry. Will big buys guarantee they will succeed in the league. It all comes down to risk assessment my friend. Read “The Swiss Report” which will give you an in depth insight of each major teams’ financial powers, investments and struggles. Don’t be misinformed and look at spending millions of dollars like it’s spending hundreds on a shopping spree. Decisions have to be made prudently, timely, strategically and with patience. There has to be a contingency plan for every strategic plan Arsene applies. In time, the signings will come and at a rapid influx.
Supporting Wenger does’nt make me ignorant, I fathom all your points relevant to Wenger’s excuses. I must say I agree that Wenger does whinge and whine, but on the contrary, we were subject on many occasions to poor umpiring. Needless for me to give you examples. Wenger can be stubborn, yes, but he always delivers.
Like I said, just a matter of time!

the truth is even though we havnt wont anything for 6+ years, people arnt just angry because that reason, we know were our problems are and wenger for some reason doesnt seem to know, if wenger bought in samba in january would fans complain or be angry???, if wenger bought in a top class keeper would fans cmplain ?????, ie man u bought van der sar, how gud has that guy been for them, a top class keeper can be the difference between winning and losing, we know we need a top class striker because van persie walks around most of the time with a sick note, if wenger had of bought a gud striker would fans be angry or complain ?????, the truth is wenger would rather get chamakh on a free, buy silvestre for a mill and squulachi for god knows how much pennies, what is this guy doing, its a bloody joke, not only are we not sorting our prblems out but on top of that were selling our best players, this must be a joke right, need i say anymore.

really constructive points you have put forward. also need to mention that with the increase in ticket prices, the fans deserve to see some QUALITY signings.
also, it is hard to imagine how young players at arsenal can result in a massive wage bill!
you are entitled to your opinion of course, but for me AW’s time is up!

on top of what i wrote above they bloody had the nerve to increase the ticket prices too, do they really think all us fans are blind and crazy, its a good thing i never buy no tickets and i never will, watching the game on the telly is as far as it goes for me and more than happy with that.

Thank you S.H, articulately put, but sadly, I may hazard a guess, beyond the knee jerk reactionaries that appear to be on this forum. I cannot understand how abusing the club is going to change things for the better in the long run, it will purely descend into farce and the media will have a field day in exploiting our in fighting. Especially mind boggling when every player is replaceable and Wenger has weeks and weeks to bring in more quality. Even more mind boggling when you consider we have Champions League football to look forward to (again – and yes not guaranteed yet, but still) and the issues with the team have been acknowledged by Wenger & Gazidis during the close season. Patients and a degree of trust is required and just a little bit of faith in a manager and board that have brought us trophies, a brand new stadium, players and a way of play that we can be proud of. A few signings will solve these issues and please don’t tell me you didn’t cheer when we beat Man U 1-0, Barca 2-1, Chelski 3-1 and Man City 3-0 last season. With the good comes the bad, and with the bad comes the good. As S.H said “just a matter of time”.

I appreciate ALL the comments guys. I’m glad most of you agree that things need to seriously change in order for this club to be successful again. We may be called names at times, for speaking out against Wenger and the board, but I think it is VERY important that we have a platform to get our points across.
@Gunnerfan! I agree with a lot that you say mate. We are no less Arsenal supporters, just because we are unhappy with what is happening at our club at present. If we have issues with our manager and the board, then we have a right to speak out.
@S.H I think you should really know better son, than to accuse me of being a closet Man Utd fan. I happen to think you are a tw@, who should stick to wiping Arsene Wenger’s backside for a living, but I didn’t feel the need to mention that publicly till now. Infact, why don’t you write an article youself, and see what sort of responses you get to it. Don’t forget to mention VERY CLEARLY though, that you are an Arsene Wenger supporter, not a true Arsenal fan.

Its funny to read this tread. Fans seems to be devided into 2 groups.
1 group want to keep Wenger and let him do what he does best, and that is making Arsenal FC competetive regardless of the players he has in his squad. And he has done that all the years he has been at the club. Bar Manure no PL team has had the same succes as Arsenal over the past 15 years. We won championships, we have partcipated in europe every season and only bad umpiring has prevented us from winning the CL at least once.
The 2nd group is those who wants Wenger out..yesterday rather than tomorrow if they had their wish. But absolutely none, not even the Author of this article has put up a name that they want to replace Wenger with. I bet they cant come up with a single one either. So my challenge to all u haters is to name a replacement or shut it. And dont mention managers u know never ends up at Arsenal no matter what. Be realistic and u will learn that we prolly cant find anyone better than Wenger.
When we bought Vieira his was flopping big-time in Malin and he was actually only signed cause Wenger made it a condition to sign him if Arsenal wanted his services. david dein would never have brought him to Arsenal hadnt it been for Wenger.
@ Aussie Jack. U state u have been an Arsenal fan since 1947 then u must have been really happy under Wengers leadership or do u want a manager like Terry Niell to run the team? Personally I remember the dark ages during the 70ies and early-mid 80ies. These last 15 yeárs have been the best I can remember as a gooner, but hey I have only been a supporter since 1976 so…..
Forever Arsenal, no matter what

You (and all the other pro wenger fans) who ask to come up with a name for someone to replace AW are all jokers. First, tell me that he will be leaving then I will give you some names.
If AW was sacked when the season ended, we could have gone for Porto’s manager who now signed with Chelsea. We could have gone with Ancelotti even Rijkaard who only recently signed with Saudi Arabia.
Also IF AW leaves, don’t you think potential managers will apply for the open job position!?!?!?! From there, interviews can be conducted and the best person for the job identified!!
Are you Danish by the way? Please take back the rubbish Bendtner. One rule in football – NEVER buy Danish players!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect yours even though you label me as an Arsene Wenger fan rather than an Arsenal fan. Boo-hoo sticks and stones. Infant-like. For all I know Gaz, your name might be a pseudonym for Admin/Editor. Learn to take a hit son, nothing personal, just voicing my thoughts. And as for my writing an article, I might and understand there will be different opinions as you insinuated. I welcome all comments both negative and positive. Being OPEN-MINDED always helps with clarity and develops a wider understanding scope. I hope we can resort to having constructive conversation rather than boring other people.
I do apologise if I came across slightly “harsh” as the Editor quoted in his email. The point of my post to you was to remain objective rather than subjective as I believed your article lacked. Then again, you might debate that it’s a matter of opinion. Let’s not go in circles like daft cats chasing tail.
Get over it, regardless of opinion, I’ll still buy you a beer for supporting the team we love. We’re all on the same side!

Cheers mate, you’re an intelligent man. Not because your opinions are parallel with mine, but you show understanding of how proactive Wenger has been even though the annunciation of new players haven’t been made official besides Jenkinson.
You hit the hammer right on the nail when saying that “every player is replaceable”. It’s not the end of the world if Fabregas or Nasri leaves. Wenger will be completely motivated to change the system and work to his strengths rather than dwelling on departures and an old system that is always inevitable to change with Fab’s potential leave.
Thanks man, I look forward to reading your future posts.

You “fans” are a joke. How quickly you forget and how quickly your loyalty is lost. It may surprise you to know that there are, genuinely, only two major trophies that Arsenal are interested in each year, the League and the Champions league..shockingly, many other teams, with great players, deeper pockets and unethical owners that want those same trophies. In case, you didn’t notice, Chelsea spent 70million in Januaray and won neither, Rea Madrid doubled that and won the sought after (laughing my ass off) Spanish cup so get a grip. Spurs incredible season ended with nothing yet their fans who, btw, could teach you douchebags a lesson, are right behind them.
As a genuine fan since 1976, who watched year after year of ugly, non-winning seasons, I am behind my team regardless and am proud to follow ateam that doesn’t cheat it’s way by bullying smaller clubs, sacking coaches every year and selling its soul. Th eone thing we must change is to get players that look at THEMSELVES for not winning. It wasn’t Wenger and the board disappearing up their ass for the last 4 months of the season (Nasri), it wasn’t Pat Rice back-heeling the ball outside his own area in stoppage time in the Nou Camp (Fabregas) and it wasn’t Gazidis constantly playing the other side onside by two yards in every game (Clichy). Lets get rid of te mercenaries and have players that are as proud to play for Arsenal as Ian Wright was, as Tony Adams was, as Dennis was, rather than to talk sh@t when their errors cost us GENUINE FANS a chance to celebrate. Lets wait and see where this window ends up. If we can get Cahill and Samba, Gervinho and Alvarez/Parker, keep Nasri, sell Fabregas and have a more British feel to the team, added too by foreign flair and technique, RVP etc, I, for one, will be happy. The rest of you, jump off the Arsenal bus and go get on the bandwagon from one of the “giants” of football, Chelsea and Man City, and see where you are at when their owners get bored and take their money back to Russia and the middle east. Otherwise, how about STFU and SUPPORT THE TEAM AND MANAGER

You are right…and it is sad, we are now one of the small clubs…just at No.1…we are at the top of the small clubs list….AW will tell you that is a good thing because afer all “we could be at the bottom you no.”
The kind of club that can not hold on to their best players because the big clubs want them and they can give them the money that the best players demand.
All that punk!! AW and the bord has to do is spend a litte more mony on experence players every four years and still buy their little boys on the cheap.
Spend the money that is needed on say 25, 26 or 27 year old big names…and still have their 18 ,19 and 20 year old boys…the big name players will be their to help the young players to develop and to have the experience of winning things. So after 4 or 5 years as they reach 30, 31 years old, they can be sold and another set of 25 to 27 year olds can come in if need be..as the 18 or 19 year olds, will now be 22 and 23 year olds with experience of winning things….and can help a new set of 18 and 19 year olds.

Yeah I am danish and yeah I do agree that Bendter should get a big big boot right up where the sun dont shine.
About Rijkaard and Ancelotti. They have been at big money spending clubs and still managed not to win anything. Fair enough Ancelotti won in his first season at Chelsea, but even with massive spending didnt win anything the 2nd season. He simply didnt have an answer when Lampard got injured and they became a crap team loosing alot of points midway through the season. Only when Lampard came back the table turned again.
Rijkaard has had a good stint at Farcelona but thats it. Everything else he touched he f..ked up. In turkey there are generally only 2 teams to speak of and thats galatassaray and Fenerbache and Rijkaard managed to do the worst season Fenerbache has had in many many years. And for that he got fired.
I agree that the ex-porto manager would have been one that could take over the team, but I dont think Arsenal would have gotten him under any circumstances..The mogul at chelski would have topped anything that Arsenal could have given him in salary.
The only thing I really want from the board and the manager is some clean cut announcements on Fab. The Tottenham manager told Chelski to take their greedy hands of Luca Modric, cause he wasnt for sale for that ridiculous small ammount they bid for him.
I would love to be able to say once or twice this silly season: ” wow..did we really get him”, but I know that no matter what happens Arsenal will still be competitive. Dont forget we did rather well eventhough we had TV5 out all season.
But tbh honest I dont give a flying f..k what they cost as long as they can fill the gabs in the team..And the team doesnt have that many gabs needing filled. Bould, Winterbottom, Vieira was really cheap signings though they did pretty well at their positions.
We need solidity in the back and some dribblers on the wings but thats pretty much it. The rest of the pieces are allready in the club, even if both Nasri and Fab is gonna depart this silly season.
Forever Arsenal, no matter what

Gazidis, why are you so soft to Wenger, fire him and bring in a new coach who is serious, competent, skillful and tactful to make Arsenal to be winning trophies every year/season.Arsenal’s whole current board should be fired and a new serious and non-economiser board should be appointed!no more no less.

i DONT beleieve some of you want Wenger to go, thats complete madness. Wenger is about to lose his best two players, surely he has a plan in place to replace the two. What Arsenal needs is a set of players that play their hearts out thats all, in short motivated players…
There’s only one way to motivate a player? Remember Rooney’s wage rise ($280k/week)?

We will always be a gunner. But it is very sad to see we teased by other club fans for not winning the silverware for 6 straight years. We are not a mid table club to be satisfied with the 3,4th place every year.It seems that Liverpool,Totts and ManC are right up there.Wenger says we have been consistent to complete in top four every year. I think that was because there were only four top club in Premier league for these many years.Next season on and it will six team in the competition for the trophy.i don’t see us at par with other five clubs as of now.We don’t have the depth of squad, there are too many in-experienced players.Last year we hoped wenger will by some experience but that was just not done.Club says we will buy player if price is right. So many teams are now owned by rich people that every good player is out of arsenals grasp.I hope Wenger buys two good experienced player then buying four hugely talented inexperienced players.

Listen people? Are you mad? Look! We’ve got the best board in England I mean look at Chelsea: You want an owner like Abramovic? If we would have him, where would we be now? Abramovic is a fucking jerk! We, the Arsenal fans, the real Arsenal fans, appreciate Arsene’s attitude and appreciate what we have! We have Wenger! Arsene Wenger! Don’t you understand? You want to spend 50 millions for players like Torres like Chelsea did? They did regret it! Who did we regret? Who? Look at Koscielny! Look at him! He is amazing, he can actually deal with players like Messi, as he did at the Emirates against them! Look at Vermaelen! Total controler! Walcott! Arshavin…!!! RVP! Wilshere! You see, they are all young and we can be proud of them all! We will win this season, and you WILL regret your comments!
