George Graham Encourages Wenger To Splash The Cash
George Graham knows a thing or two about winning trophies, and during his time as Arsenal manager he won the League Title twice, one FA Cup, two League Cups and he also has a UEFA Cup victory on his CV. So surely there is no better person to comment on the current situation at Arsenal.
Graham has been speaking on BBC Radio and he fears that the club he once managed will struggle this season and he has had the following to say. “They look a bit vulnerable. Everyone knew Fabregas was going. I can’t believe they haven’t got replacements in already. They need experienced players in to help all the outstanding youngsters they have got.”
He was quick to commend Wenger on what he has achieved during his time at the club and said, “When they had the great ‘Invincibles’, that team had everything: technique, power, physical presence, great mental players – everything you would want in a football team.”
On the current squad he said, “They’ve moved away from that, into a copy of the Barcelona team – small players, very mobile, very technical. But in English football you need more than that, you need power, and physical players. The money has come in but it looks like they’ve left it too late.”
When Graham was asked about his thoughts on where he feels Arsenal need strengthening he replied, “ I think they need another three players in the side at the present time. It’s just a matter of doing what Manchester United do – go out and buy a couple of players at £30m. Please get the the cheque book out Arsene. I think they need another centre-half, I think they still need a strong, outstanding, experienced midfielder and I still think they need an out-and-out striker like a Thierry Henry.”
Some interesting words from Graham I’m sure you will agree, but nothing that we didn’t already know, perhaps someone needs to tell Arsene Wenger!

Wenker has left it too late yet again – now is 21 Aug, the window is about to close in ten days!! Every club in the world should know that Arsenal is desperate and would inflate their prices even more! So we would end up spending more money than we would have if we had wrapped up deals way way earlier!
Somebody has to take ownership and responsibility for this mess and that person is AW. Perhaps time would have been best spent on fixing the problems in the team instead of sunning it up on the shareholder’s yatch in the summer!!!!

Indeed,somebody had to tell Arsene Wenger,but the question is,will he ever listen? For me,am really in love with Arsenal fc in such a way that, i don’t even think of swapping it with any team on this planet,but u know what,yesterday i was on the other side,meaning supporting Liverpool to win which was exactly what happened so as Wenger to know that,he’s team is not ready yet. If he had won that match or drawn,trust Wenger what he’ll say. But thank God all i wished happened and now left for him to go and splash on experience and qualities. A word is enough for wise.

Graham is right, everyone knew Fabregas was going and Wenger should have found a replacement long time ago. I have the feeling that no player is really coming before the transfer window is closed and in the beginning of september we get to see a quote from Wenger saying : We couldn’t find the quality we were looking for.

I’ve seen this before when i was about 13yrs old some 18yrs ago but it was a old but strong team lost to norwich on the first game then things got worse but now things are so much brighter but people can’t see yes he must spend but on who we can speak about players but will they come NO is the answer so it is about why

Splashing £20-£30million on players are nothing to Arsenal. Think about what we will lose out more if we fail to qualify for CL. That is a huge yearly income and i alway wonder where that money is spent, given we are in the CL every year. This is the weakest Arsenal squad currently since the day I became a Gooner. If we bought in some reinforcement and still doesnt get a good result, we can be proud to say “At least we tried our best”.
But the current state of not buying is as good as throwing everything away without a fight.
I believe some may not agree with me but seriously with all the suspension and injury, we do not even have enough players to put up a fight.

100m 4 the stadiums name, 100m+ from selling adebayor, hleb, henry, flamini, gallas, toure (the only players we have since we opened the emirates r van persie, sagna n unfortunately Almunia) exc an extra 100m 4 qualifying 4 champions league 4 6 seasons straight combine that with spending next 2 nothing 4 players n keeping ur transfer budget every f#$king window, charging the highest price for tickets in WORLD football not 2 forget the extra seats it’s amazing how we r only the 7th RICHEST SPORTING CLUB in the WORLD the other clubs must be underneath gold mines cause WENGER n GAZIDIS r making alot of god damn money

If ye SO CALLED Arsenal supporters got their way and Wenger did get the sack trust me things would get a WHOLE LOT WORSE yes we need players and had a bad start to the season but just look at UTD a few years ago ! didnt win in 1st 4 or 5 games and went on to win the league ! we need to keep the faith in our team and manager ,
And as for all the fans who boo off the team at the emirates !! all i can say is **** *** !!! i live in Ireland and it is vertually impossible to get tickets for games there and i would give my left arm just to see 1 match there , i am 26 and a supporter my whole life and still never been to a game , if thats the way the supporters act against there own team then get out of the stadium and give your tickets to people who want give there all as fans ….

Beats me why Wenger is clutching tight the chequebook. Are his hands tied somewhat by the board and he doesn’t wanna spill it? Its been very painful and i can only hope what he’s achieved all these years don’t go down the drain like its looking. I believe its a matter of urgency to bring in two or three experienced players in the defence and midfield/striking positions.

IMHO the problems at Arsenal are down to bad Voodoo, lets be honest since the move from Highbury the club has had loads of bad luck. I think naming the stadium The Emirates for financial gain was a big mistake as it took away from the community. The fans should have been allowed to come up with names and then the top 4 voted on. I’ve been to both Highbury & The Emirates and atmosphere wise there is no comparison. I’ve been to wakes with more atmosphere than The Emirates there’s not one team in the PL that fears coming to The Emirates unlike Highbury. And also maybe if Wenger has someone like David Dein to bounce his ideas off that may help break this bad Voodoo IMHO ;-()
