George Graham Says “The Jury Is Out” On Arsenals New Signings
George Graham won two league titles in his time as Arsenal manager, and knows all about the pressures of winning. He has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the problems at Arsenal.
He said, “They left it late to bring in these players so he’s not had time to work with the players he’s brought in.”
I think the whole footballing world knows that George. He went on to say, “Some of their tactical play is still the best in the league and even against Blackburn, their possession play was fantastic.”
It was great at times. There is no question about us going forward, and if we had taken our chances on Saturday we probably would have won quite comfortably and everyone would be quite happy with the team, but we didn’t and the rest is history as they say.
Graham then went on to talk about Arsene Wenger and said, “Arsene’s been there for 15 years and this is probably going to be the toughest period. In the past he’s brought in players who are good players and turned them into world-class players. Now the jury is out. Can the players he has brought in recently turn out to be as good as the ones from his past?”
In my opinion I agree with Graham. The players we have brought in are good players, no matter what people say. Unfortunately we lost the game and didn’t defend well so questions will continue to be asked about the new signings.
We all know Arsene loves to play football the right way, sexy football if that’s want you want to call it, but I think it is now time to go back to basics and start churning out the 1-0 wins that George Graham was renowned for.

the basics you are talking about is we should stop playing a high line coz between the two cd mert & kos they lack pace and we all saw how santos is good at supporting the attack. i would even recommend for the return of keown. in 2006 when he was the defensive coach we had a relatively inexperienced defence which included senderos and flamini playing as a utility player and we caused people problems and reached the champions league final.otherwise we would start hurling brickbats at players and yet our tactics are wrong in the first place

A win is a win and it is 3 points no matter the goal diff or style of play.

It wasn’t the new players that made mistakes though. It was the usual suspects whom despite making those mistakes again and again seem to end up at the same place.
the majority of the players have no initiative whatsoever. Same old mistakes again and again.

Dear Wenger,
We are tired of your usual lame, childish and casual excuses.
You had the whole of the transfer season and the need to strengthen the defence had been identied before the end of last season,even by the most foolish person in the football world. To reasons well known to you and your selfish Board,you made late buys only after swallowing your pride after being walloped 8-2 by M.U. Thereby forced to realise that you policy of buying teenages had totally flopped.
The season is now 5 matches gone with 4 points,trailling leaders M.U by 11 points. It surprises when you start lamenting and seeking fan mercy that the defence needs time to play as a unit. Simple logic” Time wasted is never gained”.
You only created alot of confusion by preoccupying your self with endless selling of your best players; Cesc and Nasir, without proper replacement. Instead you were busy splashing 15m punds on younger stars like Alex, who cannot even make it to the best 11.
Your claim that Arsenal Fans are superb is simply to hoodwink them. To be honest with you, fans are not happy. They are simply watching what unfolds.

agreed, mertesacker is a VERY talented defender but his ONLY problem is he can’t keep up with the folks in the retirement village n it took him half the game 2 track back after a corner SO Y IN THE F#CK would u make him play the highline bullsh#t which DEMANDS pace, it’s commmon motherf##kin sense MR DEFENSIVE COACH

its not strange that when the going gets tuff with a team…out trot the ‘old has beens’ and ‘sooth-sayers’ to pass judgement and give unwanted opinions
liverpool lead the field in this (remember how they did for roy hodgson)…
the likes of merson – wright – groves – mclintock and now graham are all stirring a pot that needs to just rest over a gentle heat

What is Wenger’s plan. Change personnel but play the same formation every game for the last however long.
On paper it might look like different formations but all end in 1 striker, 2 wide attackers, 1 behind those 3 with 2 in the middle with a flat back four that’s exposed if the fullbacks push up. Too easy for teams with a plan.
Unfortunately I think Wenger needs a re think which I saw glimpses of when Chamakh came on or a Change in management for a fresh outlook.

We need more team work within the team. Bcos i still can’t understand why Gervino didn’t lay the pass for Van Persie to score dat goal at Blackburn, could have changed d game as it would have been 3-1. I still believe dat when we gel 2gether we are still a serious treat to any1. Peace G4life!

I support Ambrose Ayesigyes comment.Wenger had all the time to bring new players but did nothing until M U bashing,so why blaming the defenders that had no time to blend? He should accept responsibility first before passing buck.Other managers saw the need to buy players early, use them for preseason thereby allowing them understand themselves,but Wenger was busy looking without seeing with the excuse of not getting the qualities.He amuse me,how come he got 4 qualities on deadline day after M U bashing?
I believe Arsenal will overcome these problems with time but the question is…Has Wenger learn any lesson from this? Only time will tell.

The whole episode of the transfer window was a complete shambles…players were identified, some negotiated with and failed, some bought on the cheap and some from the french league and some when the panic button was pressed.

pathetic management…pathetic touchline non-motivation and direction, below standard defensive players..(for years) and hopeless easy-to-counter tactics.
George graham should really speak his mind….to say we played some good football is just trying to give a balanced view and not appear critical. We hve let in 14 goals in the prem!!!!

Can’t people remember the fact that we hadn’t secured a Champions League spot until near the final few days of the transfer window. Players like Mertesacker, Santos (not anymore) or players like hazard and Gotze all were in teams who were playing in the CL so why would they have come to arsenal with the chance of being out of Europe. This is why wenger couldn’t get these players in earlier. Although i would have loved to see them at the club earlier, wenger is right when he says some of the signings were simply not possible until the end of the window. I still have faith (even though it is a small amount) that this squad can finish in the top 4 this year (most likely the only achievement we can hope for) but the team just needs that little extra time to gel with the right mixture of youth and experience. Would love to see AOC and Ryo implemented into the premier league games and not just the carling cup :s

Thanks to our outstanding performance this season, Arsenal has stopped being televised in my country. They are rather televising Spurs with all the other top dogs. I cannot even watch the Shrewsbury game tonight. What a F*CKUP. Thanks Wenger, you are single handidly destroying this club. You have made unforgiveable mistakes, that of which I’m not even going to bother to mention as any one who truly supports this club would have noticed and knows precisely what they are.
Wenger please leave with what bit of dignity and respect you have left. Get someone else in who plays to WIN, not so we can count how many passes we can put together in our own half of the pitch.

The negativity has to stop. Its us fans who have to help take the pressure off the team and sho them we r behind a 100%, we are in a bad position as it is and it wont help with ex arsensal whether players or managers having a dig, they mite b rite in wat they are saying but now jus aint the best time for those comments. The players need a confidence boost and us fans should be there at this time, dont add to the critics because we only adding to the problem, we all kno the team could be much better but lets give them our 100% backing instead of adding more pressure to what they have deal with. For the sake of our team its best we start giving wenger and the boys our support, put ur feelings of wenger and the board and whichever player you dont like aside and stop airing all these negativity, we da only set of fans that do this and it should stop..NOW
