Gervinho AND Song given three-match bans for Newcastle riot.
Arsenal’s crucial games against Liverpool and Man Utd in the next fortnight just got a little bit harder as it has been revealed that the FA have given a retrospective three-match ban to Alexander Song after his stamp on Joey Barton’s legs went unnoticed by the referee.
Gervinho was also given a three-game ban for slapping Joey Barton (who admitted he over-reacted) and it is expected that Arsenal will appeal the severity of the ban considering it was hardly a touch. The Guardian reports that they won’t contest the charge, which is irrefutable, but the length of the ban.
Both clubs have also been charged with “failing to control their players” during the melee, although it’s doubtful what Arsene Wenger could have done if he was standing between Barton and Gervinho at the time. For some reason Newcastle intend to appeal and will plead their case at a disciplinary hearing, whereas Arsenal haven’t yet made a decision.
Joey Barton was punished with a yellow card for his actions during the game, despite being the catalyst, and will receive no further punishment, except to be lambasted by Arsenal Fans like in this post from Arsenal Banter.…

phylo I agree. Song and Gervinho are two of our best players. With Fabregas and Nasri gone too, what kind of quality do we have to offer against United and Liverpool? We don’t. Wenger hasn’t really done much to bolster the team, lets be honest here. He’s bought in one experienced player and two kids, in my opinion are average. This is the exact reason why we haven’t won anything in the past 6 years, we have boys playing for us which cannot endure the physical strain they BPL requires. We then get injuries and end up having to play our custodian team for half the season. I don’t know how Wenger does not see the obvious. Anyway I just really hope he makes a plan soon otherwise the last of his devout will turn on him soon enough.

Arsenal have first refusal to buy Cesc Fabregas back as part of the £40million deal that finally sent the midfield star to Barcelona.

I am an Arsenal fan but could not believe how stupid some of the players are, especially after Diaby also fell into the same Barton grudge trap last season. Not to mention the recent transfer record… Losing Cesc is one thing but overreliance on Ligue 1 when France FIFA ranking is in the low teens? It worked while France was one of the top teams to beat but their decade ended a few years ago… Germany, Klopp of Dortmund to succeed!

It’s just shocking that the term stamp is being used, watched in real time Alex steps on the back of Barton’s scabby cheating leg. The stamp is comarable to the punch as Cheaty Barton claimed or indeed the elbow that cheatin taylor claimed it was. We must also remember that as oppossed to the Violent conduct from Bastard the referee was maybe 3 yards from the incident looking directly at it and gave a free kick for the late hack at Alex’s ankle for which, biased as i am Bastard should have seen yellow to calm him down there and then. The FA has failed to administer justice to Barton as was the case. To me it shows that England is still backaward in administering justice to the non English players especially African players. Its a pitty that FA took such a stupid decision. Every body watched what happened.It has made me believe that even the just ended riot in England was justified. Wenger may well support his players in public, but no self respecting manager could in anyway condone what Song did on a yellow..it was nothing short of pathetic. I hope Gervinho wises up quickly. We get enough injuries throughout the year without petty bookings and sendings off. Lack of discipline at the back and amongst players will cost us in the long run. The fact that Barton should have been booked for leaving the field of play without the referees permission and sent of for manhandling another player and while the game was going on is no excuse for our players losing their cool. For Song to swap jokes and almost his shirt with Barton at the end suggests Song is not much short of being a moron instead of being one of our more experienced key players this year.

1. Song stamped on Barton. That was wrong. If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. Song is a muppet for what he did.
2. Gervinho slapped Barton. End of. You can’t raise your hands. All he had to do was let Barton pull him up, then roll around like Barton had ripped his head off. Barton’s off. But no, he jumped around like a girl and bitch slapped Barton as the referee was looking at him. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
All of you seeking to justify what these two did, JUST GROW UP. It’s their (Gervinho/Song) fault, they need to man up and take responsibility and the manager needs to stamp out this crazy behaviour. It’s been a major drawback of ours for many years – at critical moments of the game/season our player do really really dumb things (Eboue anybody??) and we always get punished.
The answer is surprisingly simple – don’t act like a twat and you cannot get banned. It isn’t rocket science.

I think the club is run brilliantly and lets not forget we built an amazing stadium and stayed in the top 4 in the time the other big boys have been buying titles. While the severe damage has been done, its time to worry about how well Wenger will present this man-handling & shamefull case to the internationally famed English FA that has so much intergrity in them. Its embarrasing that such an ugly & unimaginable manhandling – if not an assault case, could be just a yellow card only for the thug. Also, since when did the EFA sanction the players for taking up part of the Referee’s duty!! He was not authourised to start dragging & pulling up a player on the ground for whatever offences he commits and his horrible act already is a strait RED!
