Giroud breaks duck and Arsenal grab a great win against West Ham
First of all, congratulations to Olivier Giroud. It seemed for most of the first half that his bad luck at Arsenal was going to continue and he was going to have another fruitless game. The big Frenchman was playing well but his shots, although on target, were hitting defenders and he was millimeters away from getting on to balls. When his goal finally came, there was no luck involved. Giroud started the move by holding the ball and feeding it to Podolski who whipped in a lovely ball. Giroud bust a gut and finished beautifully. It was a great moment for Giroud and for Gooners everywhere.
West Ham nearly went in to half time with an undeserved lead. Diame finished well for the home side but it was their first half chance. Mertesacker and Ramsey should have done better but Arsenal should have converted their possession into at least one goal before that. Diame could easily have seen a second yellow but the ref was lenient. We seemed to struggle a little after their goal but soon began to control the ball again and Giroud got a well deserved equaliser five minutes before the break.
The second half started in a very scrappy fashion with both teams giving the ball away. Gibbs had a great chance to put a good ball in with four players running on to it but he spooned it over and left the pitch with an injury soon after. Ge3rvinho had been out of sorts all game and was finally replaced by Walcott after an hour. His first touch was to accidentally block a goal bound shot from Cazorla and then he couldn’t quite find Giroud for a tap in.
Carroll had caused Arsenal problems all day and nearly gave West Ham the lead with a header after 65 minutes. Phil Dowd helped West Ham out again when he failed to award a penalty for a clear foul on Aaron Ramsey. Theo did get a chance, though, and showed coolness and skill to slot it past Jaaskelainen. He did his bid to be a striker no harm at all.
It was nail biting stuff for Arsenal fans for a few minutes until Santi Cazorla capped another masterful performance with a cracking goal. A great win for the Gunners, let’s hope Gibbs’ injury is not serious and he will return after the international break.
We truly deserved that win.

Okay I am as excited as anyone for this win, fantastic come back.
Giroud broke the duck and gave great assist and people seem to forget how valuable assisting forward can be because Giroud is just like that. Still need a little for finishing but is coming good. Great game.
Cazorla had couple bad shots before his stunning goal. Great game as always.
If Walcott don’t start next game, I’mma go riot. He plays 30 minutes, scores the winner and gives a fighting assist for Cazorla. Can’t ask for more.
Ramsey was awful today. We have to be critical although we won and anyone go says Ramsey had a good game, needs a reality check. Ramsey is one of our hot/cold players, needs way more consistency.
Defence stood up a notch for second half, winning almost every header. Especially Mertesacker, once again he was impressive.
We came from behind which is kind of usual for us but that’s okay, it means we fight till the end. We deserved to win no doubt.

It was very good game. West Ham relied heavily on Carroll and he did well. Gervhino not looking good today but Wallcot as Sub did great. Ramsey was awesome today after Santi and Mertasacker.

Great review of the match Bob.
Whoever said Walcott is useless hopefully now sees that his speed and recent finishing ability makes him a valued asset.
On the counter, as we saw today he is lethal. Don’t forget he started the move and assisted Cazorla for his belter of a goal.
Podolski I think was the unsung hero today. He had some sublime cut back crosses which should have been put in the back of the net. His work rate was fantastic and great cross for the first goal.
Giroud showed great movement and positioning off the ball as usual, was unlucky not to score at least 3 today, but when he did score it felt like a weight lifted off all our shoulders.
Cazorla was average first half, second half he came to light and showed us why he is one of the best midfielders in the world. Great vision and understanding between him and Giroud, and what a cracker of a goal. About time we got a midfielder who can shoot from long range.
Gervinho was poor today, but you cannot expect him to perform every single game. He has worked hard and scored some valuable goals this season so we should respect him for that. Wenger made a very good decision subbing him for Walcott, for as soon as Walcott came on, we looked like a different team.
Ramsey was average today. One or two good moves, but also frustrating at times.
Arteta also did not have a good game today. He is a good holding midfielder, but I really feel Arsenal need to invest into a proper DM for physical teams like Stoke, West Ham etc. Fellaini comes to mind. Otherwise we cannot blame Arteta too much as up until now he has been VERY consistent and been the glue in our midfield.
Gibbs and Jenks had a very good game, both players are full of heart and very determined.
Mertesacker read the game extremely well today and was vital in preventing a near certain goal.
Vermalaen was average and Carrol completely dominated him in the air.
Mannone is a good keeper, but really really needs to work on air balls. Carrol made him look like a midget. He pulled off a good save towards the end though.
Overall a mediocre performance, but I think our class out shined them in the end.

This was not a good game, we should do much much better and against a better team we would have lost this won. But yet we won and OG got his first in the PL, so obviously I’m very very happy.
I think Theo was a game changer and worth every pound of his salary (in football world terms). We sign him already for f sake.

Our crossing was awful. Podolski was the only player who did some great crosses. Giroud couldve scored at least 2 if the crossing was better. Anyway great result, and Walcott, Cazorla and Podolski were super.
I feel like whenever Cazorla shoots from outside the box hes going to hit the target. What a player.

Truly a cracking game, need to defend aerial threats better i hardly saw many headers being won by Per against caroll. Our first 15 mins were simply gr8 i must say. I think giroud brings a different dimension to our attack, he holds the ball excellently which allows us to build up our play. A little disappointed he could not get 2 or more goal today but 1 goal and 1 assist more than enough to boost his confidence. So now basically most of our midfield and forwards are in the score sheet and we don’t have drought for goals like last season.

We controlled the middle of the park today with Arteta, cazorla and Ramsey.
with podolski and walcott on either wing and Giroud up front this is the ideal team.
Hopefully AW will come to realise that playing them in their natural position will bring the best out of them.

Great result great performance in a tough away fixture especially pleasing to see strength come off the bench in theo and laurent, gutted about young gibbs getting injured literally praying for it to not be too serious. Hopefully he wont expected for england and he rests cos he has been outstanding for afc. Hats off to the boss great subs and timing of. COYG

Our midfield looked great and I thought Ramsey did a good job of filling Diaby’s boots as he showed great pace and vision. However, Ramsey needs to be quicker on his decision making that;s all . good game by the team today. I must say this was one of the better games Theo has played in sometime. He showed a fire that I’ve not seen in a very long time. His goal was well taken and he seemed to read the game very well today. In the past he would have ran off side for his goal but held up quite well.
He has not been getting his regular mins this season but I wonder if the boss is trying to get that extra something out of him. I’ve always felt he’s played below his capabilities and lets hope this is the first of many more positive games to come.

First of all, congrats to the lads for sticking it out.A deserved win. I so dislike Allardyce and his brand of football. No finesse, no class, just plain thuggish. We still need to make constructive criticism to move forward and not overly dwell on the euphoria of the moment.I think Gibbs should be given special training and practice on delivering good crosses.The very first useful cross that Giroud got, he scored with it. We counter a lot through Jenkinson and Gibbs(especially Gibbs), if he delivers 70% of the balls he gets into useful crosses, we would be finishing off opponents quicker and easier.We saw when Podolski took over to deliver crosses from counters, how very close we were to scoring with Carzola’s shots unfortunately blcoked by the WH defenders. This ball delivery from the flanks have to be worked on as a matter of urgency. And Ramsey has got to work on his fitness. He tires so easily and starts giving away balls in dangerous areas as a result.

The lad ran his socks off today and I feel he is getting better with every game.
A huge improvement on last season already.
I think some of you forget he has come back from a near career ending injury! So lay off the lad please! Rant over.

Glad we won all three points but let’s not 4get how much this game could have gone different,we were extremely poor at aerial balls..it was nail biting stuff..I couldn’t understand how a premier league team would let 1 man(carrol) win all the aerial balls that came our way..and on another day,we could have concedded 3goals…I remember and hate those all days of conceding such cheap goals..thought we had learnt how to deal with them but today served as evidence to the contrary..hope it was just a blip…otw..great win!and hope we iron out the weaknesses.

Great to see Mertesheker start again and great to see Giroud get his premiership account opened! And what can I say about Santi Carzola! We all miss Fabregas but on top of Carzolas fantastic skill, his work rate is incredible the guy does not stop! And i think that will make him better for us than Fabregas as every game so far Carzola has ran his arse off from the start to the final whistle! Im glad that now we have the international break and hope that Wilshire gets at least on the bench at Norwich! Cant wait to have him back to best!! I think Jenkinson is getting better and better! But I do think that it will be great to have Sagnas experience back I think that will give us that little bit extra!

There’s no doubt that we’re a better side without RVP! So much more team focused. We look for more targets to score rather than always passing to the same player. Giroud was absolutely fantastic. When you have the football intelligence and movement that he naturally has, you’re destined to be a very good or even great striker. Long way to go, but I genuinely believe that he has the tools and the desire to surpass RVP and get up toward Bergkamp and Henry legend status. He’s fantastic and his attitude is impeccable. Santi, what can one say about him?! He is just outstanding. Absolutely world class. Bit more dynamic than Csec, bit more pacey. He has everything – passing, movement, vision, anticipation, shooting, finishing, long range shooting, free kicks, crosses, pace, assists, goals, work rate, attitude – just f*cking everything! On par with Ineista and Silva, very similar to them.

Santi’s goal was wonderful. No wonder Spanish players in Real begged Muorinho to bring him in instead of Modric…….Talk of the issue….@Ramos had with Muorinho. All and all good game top gunners. Lets cut Ramsey some lack. Hope after costing us some of these goals in his build up to being a world star…He will not jump ship one day
