One man who knows Olivier Giroud well but will not be pleased at the striker hitting form at Arsenal is Rene Girard, the manager of Montpellier. Girard is well aware of what Giroud can do, as he helped make him the player he is. Girard is hoping that his extensive knowledge of Giroud will help him to prepare Montpellier to stop the Arsenal front man from scoring, but he doesn’t sound overly optimistic.
“Olivier worked very hard for us and we almost sculpted him into the player he is today. We made history at the club and had great times.
“Unfortunately for us, he is rediscovering his best form and starting to score goals, but we have tactics to try to stop him.
“We know how good he is, but there are lots of attacking threats here at Arsenal.”
Giroud’s former team mate and Arsenal transfer target, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, is captain of the French side and recently signed a new contract. He is looking forward to trying to stop Giroud, but he could be in for a torrid night, as long as the Arsenal team can get the ball to him. Giroud is looking to continue his recent run of five goals in five games, and would love to score against his former club.
The Frenchman has admitted that Montpellier helped him alot when he moved there from the French second division. He revealed that he doubted his ability early in his career, but his progress has been amazing. He is now an accomplished Premier league striker and is just getting better.
