Good News for Wenger at last – Gibbs is okay and Eduardo extends!
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had an awful week where the bad news seemed to be popping up every day, but now the clouds have broken and there is some sunshine around again at last!
When the young defender Kieran Gibbs was pulled off the pitch during the England U21 match on Tuesday it was feared that he had suffered the dreaded broken metatarsal which only seems to affect English internationals, but new tests have revealed that it is not broken after all, and Gibbs WILL be available to face Chelsea next weekend.
Arsenal released this statement last night: “After being assessed by the Arsenal medical staff, the club can confirm that Kieran Gibbs has sustained severe bruising to the bones and soft tissue of his right foot.
“Thankfully the foot is not fractured and his enforced absence will be short term.”
This great bit of news was followed immediately by the even better tidings that the Croatian striker Eduardo has committed his long-term future to the Gunners. Eduardo hasn’t made many first team appearances since he returned from his broken leg in February, and there were rumours that he was thinking of moving elsewhere if he was not given more starts for Arsenal, but now those fears can be forgotten.
Wenger announced: “We’re delighted that Eduardo has signed a new long-term contract with us.
“Eduardo is a special player with huge talent and natural goalscoring ability, and we’re all so happy that he has committed his future to Arsenal.
“We have also seen in his comeback from injury, Eduardo is a human being full of courage, bravery and commitment.
“His full recovery from this injury is a testament to Eduardo’s character. We all look forward to enjoying Eduardo’s performances in an Arsenal shirt for a long time to come.”
With a run of crucial games coming up in the next month, the Gunners were desperately in need of some good news to give the team and boost, and it has arrived just in time!

I love Eduardo, this is great for him to sign for new contract. Thanks to Gibbs news.We must harvest trophies now.
VIVA SAINT EDDY!!
What a good news for al of us,i’m delighted 2 hear that of gibbs,we hope he recorver soon 2 b able 2 face chealsea.
If there is one player I want to see to score the goal that will bring us our next trophy it should be Eduardo.
For all he has been through the past 2 years he deserves it most.
I can see him running to the goal slightly to the left and from som 12 yards out he blasts the ball past the goal keepers at the near post. He almost destroys the net and the Emirates is exploding in joy and rocking like it never did before.
Forget to add at my last post: and then I woke up.
Things are looking brighter now. Good times are set to roll. Edurado is a fabulous player and him staying with us will shut all the rumor mills linking him to liverpool.
and thank god 4 Gibbs. God must be wearing red and white today..
dudu, we love you. Thank U

BTW things are looking ominous for Sunderland…
The starting ELEVEN against sunderland was crap!!! Traore was the weakest link.. Can’t believe the fact that Arsene Wenger left Arshavin, Vela, Eboue and Walcott out of the starting 11 and instead played Ramsey, Rosicky and Traore! We did not deserve to loose that match!!!!
