Good to see Park start for Arsenal – but what about Benayoun?
After only playing in one Arsenal game so far – against Shrewsbury – Wenger has finally chosen to play Chu-Young Park in tonight’s Bolton match, hopefully giving the South Korean the chance he needs to prove himself a worthy deputy to Robin Van Persie.
However, it isn’t just him who has been overlooked thus far at Arsenal since his arrival – Yossi Benayoun hasn’t had much of an opportunity either. Despite experiencing a disappointing time with Chelsea, his performances at Liverpool were very impressive and earned him his subsequent labelling as among the most underrated players in the league. He may not be held in such high regard nowadays, but it would still be brilliant to see him start more games than the two he has under his belt so far for Arsenal this season. He scored a tidy goal against Shrewsbury and it looks like he will be given another run-out in tonight’s encounter with the Trotters.
He has a goal and an assist for Israel in the side’s last three games. These statistics may not be as impressive as Park’s seven goals in five games but they should nonetheless not be overlooked. On top of this, he is captain of the national team, and so can offer another wise and experienced head to the team.
Arsène Wenger could well start the Israeli alongside Park in a front three with Oxlade-Chamberlain or Ryo, making for an exciting line of attack with an impressive blend of intelligence and enthusiasm. The fact that a player like Benayoun is regarded as a second option at Arsenal proves that the Gunners’ squad isn’t so thin after all.
Should he really be considered for a first-team place or is Arshavin still the better option, regardless of his unpredictable form?

ye our squad isn’t thin..but carrys a lot of shit like squillaci, diaby and chamakh and is not as strong as without nasri and fabregas. still there replacements are ok i guess gervinho and arteta. wilshere and ox will definately reach that level in the future too. they should start benayoun with park today alongside the young ryo, ox, coquelin and frimpong.

It’s inappropriate to compare players on LOAN with OTHER club players…Benayoun is still Chelsea asset…making him second choice as long as an Arsenal player can do the job

benayoun was terrific along with torres at liverpool.i always liked his killer through balls.its not like only rosicky can regain the spark.hes come back from an injury and i wont be surprised if he regains some of his form at liverpool no doubt………

Diaby is unpredictable but not like Squillaci and Chamakh. We shall give him a chance. Still think he can make the impact sometime. Just hope AW will play Migual alongside TV5.

Park Chu Young is a very good player. Since join in us this summer, he hasn’t been given chance to prove himself. he is in form given his goal scoring record for Korean national team. IMO,one of the reason possibily is he is not a good fit for the current formation. but still look forward to seeing him starts with Ox and Ryo tonight.

Here’s the thing about Park and Benayoun– they hold no resale value.
Wenger can show off some elderly talent or give experience to some youth.
I think the only reason Park will see action is because Chamakh has been so poor.

I really don’t know the problem with chamak,he was such a prolific striker in his former club and wenger has tried his best giving him the time to prove himself. He has failed in this quest and even if he sells him now,it’s gonna be at a loss. Park with his level of experience should be given the same chance AW gave chamak,old or small we need a regular goal scorer. Yossi is a very good game reader and should be given the role of a super sub.
