Granero ‘not a target’ for Arsenal – Is anyone overly bothered?
According to the Mirror, Arsène Wenger has ruled himself out of a possible move for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero. If this is true, it seems like a sudden end to his apparent interest that has been ongoing since the summer.
Being linked with a player from the likes of Real Madrid may sound promising but ‘El Pirata’ hasn’t made much of an impact in his two years at the Bernabeu. His four goals in 55 appearances (including those on the bench) showed off his excellent shooting ability but his overall performances have been lacking in edge. Still, this long-range shooting – and occasional scoring – is a positive to his game, as is his versatility to play anywhere across the midfield.
However, is the reported £8m transfer fee required worth it? It seems not. The Spaniard has no full international experience and his inconsistency is something that is becoming slightly less of an issue for Arsenal, with Walcott starting to show signs of being able to replicate his devastating best on a near-weekly basis.
It seems peculiar that Wenger would be interested in a player from such a big club like Real Madrid, let alone one that hasn’t started a game since the middle of July. Many Gooners would be content-enough with his arrival but the fact that there are already so many midfield options does suggest that, as Wenger said about his defenders, there are “plenty”.
Back in March in the last match against West Brom, Ramsey’s performance was mediocre and Denilson’s quite simply appalling. The cries for a signing like that of Granero would have been far louder than those heard today, with the midfield looking like a stronger unit seen in a long while.
Having options galore is a great asset to have at any club, but is Granero the kind that Arsenal should be aspiring to?

I think that we have a good midfield, with Wilshere also on his way back.
And if Wenger wants to sign a midfielder, then he shouldnt be wasting his time with talents who havent proved themselfs (yet). Those playerers we already have if you looke at players like ryo, ox-chamb, frimpong…etc
Then a bigger investment in a player like Hazard or Gotze, who play, and prove what they can do, every week on a high level is way better for the team.

i read mirrorfootball a while ago and did read the statement saying, AW ruled out on Granero. but when i visit dailymail, stated, arsenal are in talks with real madrid over granero and AW contacted Murinho for Granero. which one is bull crap? its best getting granero then sell diaby. it’ll be balanced. then summer arrives as gotze pack his bag on his way to the emirates. I F**CKING HATE SPUDS. ARSENAL TILL I DIE.

YEAH….. i really agreed with wenger over the issue of GRANERO …
i think he’s a good talented players as well as MATA .but one thing i don’t no is,i have never seen him played . but i have this doubt that he ‘ll be a good player at arsenal….
just GO GET HIM….

arsenal definitely needs granero,despite he being at the bench at real madrid does not make him a bad player,just look at vandervaat.granero has this shooting ability outside the 18 yard box and thats what arsenal need right now.

Great result today for the gunners
but can I just ask, how many of you actually knew who granero was until he was linked with us? not too many I bet. He’s not needed anyway, I think we should forget about transfers atmo and just get right behind the team

the next player we sign should be a marquee signing, a player at the top of his game that will put the icing on the cake and raise the profile of the club, please no more promising talents, hot youths, or players struggling at other clubs. if your gonna add to this squad make it a goetze or hazard or stop wasting the clubs time and money. wenger has made it clear if its not a world class player that will improve the quality of the squad dramatically we mite aswell persavere with the youngsters already here, id rather see lansbury back in an arsenal shirt before another so so signing like the one suggested above!

We really only need someone who can produce some magic, a better move would be for a player like Gotze who is capable of producing great quality performances, is young and will turn into a world class player and can stay consistant. Although it would cost quite a lot more to aquire him than Granero.

I actually like the midfield players we have now. Arteta does alot of stuff on the defensive end covering alongside Song.
Ramsey, Gervinho, Arshavin and Rosiscy are the offensive minded midfielders and all have proven their worth this season…Yes Rosiscy and Arshavin is getiing older, but they should last this season out.
And ofc I havent mentioned Wilshere, but when he comes back he comes back fresh, which is better than a new signing in my book…So wait till summer to strenghten the midfield and focus abit on defence..we still only have 3 viable CB’s. Squid is rubbish and Djourou is a forth solution at best. If we get a CB we can also move Kos to DM where he prolly would be even better than in the back 4.
We need a 2nd really good attacker. Maybe Park just need some games to get into a flow, but so far he hasnt impressed me. Hope it changes though.
Chamakh seems to have lost the fire for playing for AFC, so he should be sold.
Basically we should go for a “sure thing” striker like Podolski and a defender that can cover both CB and RB or LB.

the back 4 looks much better now with vermaelen back.. what a player.. 1 of the best buys of the decade.. walcott still needs more creativity, but it was a decent performance.. arsenal is really back.. go gunners

Though i dont agree with a lot of things Mr kemp says, i sure would love to see what he has to say? infact i would love to debate with him anytime he is willing to accept my challenge that most of the things he says are utter non-sense, however i do respect the fact that he is a gooner. Though a very different gooner to me.
