Hazard confirms Tottenham deal! (video) Oh My God!

Posted on February 14, 2012 by admin

I am shell-shocked having just seen the video of the interview that the supposedly big Arsenal-target Eden Hazard had with the Belgian TV station RTBF, and he virtually confirms that he is ready to sign for Tottenham and it seems like he has already agreed to join them but obviously the two clubs have to agree a fee.

The video is in French but I am pretty fluent myself so here is what they say:

RTBF: So…The future. So now we need to speak about Tottenham, there is a new rumour which has just appeared on FranceFootball saying you’re on your way to the Spurs. Well you’ve already agreed that you want to go to England at the end of this season.

Hazard: Yes, I’ve said it. Because I think it is there I can learn better, I think that every week-end is a big match, even against “smaller” teams. It’s simply a higher level.

RTBF: A few of your followers, like Ludociv Guly, says he would rather see you playing in Spain, with your style.

Hazard: This is maybe more my style but I think in Spain, to win the title, there is only either Barcelona or Madrid and I think it’s more difficult to play there at my current age.

RTBF: At Tottenham there are two future rivals for the World Cup qualifiers, Modric and Bale…..

Hazard: …And also Kranjcar as well….

RTBF: The reactions to this from everywhere was…..oh very good choice….it’s a good fit… So what? Is this a real rumour?

Hazard: Yes it is. Of course it is a club which interest me because as you’ve just said it, there are huge players, a huge coach I think. Right now I haven’t yet signed anything. It will take place soon I hope. For the present I focus on Lille and there is only Lille in my head……

Well I am going to be totally gobsmacked if Tottenham have already tied this one up. It looks like he really is prepared to join the Spuds and he actually wants to. What can I say……..

If you don’t believe me watch the video yourself. It is copyrighted by RTBF (Please visit www.rtbf.be) I hope they don’t mind me taking this from YouTube! BUT if there are any French Gooners out there that correct any of my translating mistakes (if any!) please leave a comment below……

A lot could depend on Gareth Bale, if they tie down Adebayour, if Modric leaves and ofcourse what Harry chooses to do. All could go off the rails. Hazard also spoke highly of chelsea. I feel he is saying he admires most teams in england to up his price for lille

If that’s true than that sucks big time. Another great player we let slip away. I do hope we can sign one top quality creative midfielder in the summer. I think that’s all we need. Of course that is if RVP stays.

This is the first year spurs have actually done well, and everyone is puffing them up like they are the greatest team on earth. Arsenal have been a top side for decades, Spurs cannot touch our class or prestige. You would think because Hazard has a team mate and a cousin in Arsenal he would rather join us.

Anyway I’m not too bothered, as someone said he is inflating his own price, I’m sure he will go for at 25-30m, something Arsenal just won’t go for. Besides Ryodinho is going to be a key player next season and from what I’ve seen has just as much potential as Hazard.

Hi every one, I’m a massive gunners supporter from South Africa, and I’m going to be honest when I read the headline of this I got sick! It honestly just shows me that Arsenal just isn’t that attractive to “big” players anymore, we have a consistent run of qualifying for champions league but that’s about it, when last did we really push to win the BPL, when last did we play in any major finals? We are an amazing club with rich history and pride, but that just doesn’t matter to players that didn’t support Arsenal as kids. Players want to win trophies, earn lots of money and want to be remembered for what they achieved and with Arsenal not achieving much except Champions league qualification players just don’t get that exited anymore when they receive interest from us.

If we can win the FA Cup, qualify for champions league and end up in the semis or even WIN the F*ckin CL then players will start to believe that Arsenal are once again the club they use to be. Winning Spurs at the Emirates will be great for us but that won’t change the mind of Hazard, winning trophies and qualifying for the big stage, now that is what will change the minds of Hazard, Goetze, Podolski or any other player we want to sign and more importantly keep our key players at this wonderful club.

every year our top players left the club because of mr Wenger dose not sign quality players and those quality players sign for another competitive club like city and man united so our star players becomecfrastrated in competing to get a champions league place so signing aplyer like hazard will be a big help to keep players like RVP so MR Wenger please dont build a new team every season add one or two top quality players and we will win trophies ok.

It amazes me how `arry` Redknapp can find the money and tie up a deal under Wenger`s nose. Who has the better cash flow Spurs or Arsenal, who has the bigger commercial turnover Spurs or Arsenal, who has the greater property investment spurs or Arsenal, whose major shareholders have most money Spurs or Arsenal? We must be competitive finacially or Wenger`s economic policy is just hot air.

Hazard can go anywhere he wants! He is simply NOT worth 40-50M! Wenger will nurture Eisfeld to become a terrific player. Just give him time. Remember that Eisfeld was actually preferred over Gotze but due to a nasty injury it set him back from playing regularly in the first team. Gotze and Hazard are overrated and overpriced.

Isn’t it funny how Arsenal scout all the good players and Spuds follow what we want? They can break their bank if they want, but Redknapp cannot afford Hazard unless he sells Bale or Modric.

In a way I hope we don’t get Gotze or Hazard, there is high chance that they can turn out to be like Torres, Aquilani and Carroll. Only time will tell, but something tells me next year we’re gonna have a complete side ready for war!

Arsenal fans should not be used like remote control, our eyes are opened now,we know it all.Arsenal is just a business club.Buy young players, make them stars, sell them to bigger clubs with huge amount, can we win trophies with this sort of wenger philosophy?Wenger when interviewed will always say…and i quote…There are 2 clubs in the premier league that has been consistent in champions league…Manchester United and Arsenal,We have been competing for over 14 times consecutively…But if i will ask, does competing makes any big difference to us than winning it?If you’re a good manager at least you should claim 1 champions league trophy from the 14 times you participated..Man u won it twice.I don’t see my lovely team winning trophies 10years to come
Eden Harzard or who?i don’t care about him, there are other better players around,we must spend big if we are to match with the strength of Man U and Man city…Most arsenal players are injury pron because they work hard to marge with the strength of the opponent and that result to them having injuries, see what happened to Wilshere.Even when Fabregas was with us from hamstring to ankle, from injury to injury, now he’s in Barca, nothing like that anymore,he has less work to do..I remember when Xavi said that Fabregas was suffering in Arsenal, wenger was mad at him,it is true..he suffered, playing week-in-week out…Wenger please be sincere to yourself, what are you doing with our club?how much money you and the board wants to make for your selves?

well i agree with u peaple above, hazard is not a priority in my thought, we’ll have gervinho n ryo n arshavin fighting for left wing if he comes,

we rather splash the money on a proven midfield n an attacker (gotze (is really creative n quick) – podolski (want to leave) – pato/benzema (only if we splash the cash )

We need a goal scoring center midfielder. We have players on the wings. We have not scored enough goals from midfield and Rosicky, Ramsey, Song and Arteta all play their football outside the eighteen yard box. We need the player that will make that telling burst into the box. Or revert to 442 to help RVP. Hazard only come to light because we pursued him then you see every team climb on the transfer bandwagon. Every player we name as a possible goes elsewhere for the money. We are not a winning club at the moment so we are not attracting so called big players. Our time will come and we will have money to spend without debt We know this doesn’t help us now but our time is coming again

I just cannot comprehend why Wenger does not move for players earlier. Sources say he has been watching him for years, when he was rising up through the Lille academy. Why didn’t he move then? Same with Ozil, apparently he was watching him for two to three years, then he dominates at the World Cup and goes to Madrid. For the sake of a few pennies, just get players you’re interested in wrapped up! Before this sort of thing happens. Ronaldo before he went to United… He was apparently interested in Ba at the end of last season but didn’t want to risk it because he had a bung knee. Worked out well for Newcastle.

The club have got to start giving the fans something back.

But to be honest, firstly, i would be amazed if hazard was at spurs next season. And secondly it is not probable that arsenal would buy him anyway! 30 odd million, maybe more if other teams start bidding … wenger just comes out and says we are a business and need to make 15-20 million before we can buy! Our money seems to disappear ever window and when was the last time we spent big on a player … 12-14 million on arshavin and aoc ?

And for those who believe we will get gotze aswell … one name: Eisfeld

Lille star Eden Hazard has quashed rumours of him joining Tottenham in the summer – although he does admit being interested in the Barclays Premier League side.
French media reported on Monday that Hazard, who is being closely monitored by top clubs from England, Italy and Spain, had agreed to join Spurs at the end of the season
However, the Belgium international insists his mind is not made up yet on where his destination will be in the summer when he is expected to leave French Ligue 1 outfit Lille.
“I said that [his desire to move to England] because I think that I can learn the best there because there are big matches every week, even with the little teams, big matches with great atmospheres,” Hazard told Belgian TV channel RTBF.
“[Spurs] is a rumour. It is a club that interests me, of course, because they have great players and a great coach.
“I have not signed anything yet – it is too early. At the moment I want to focus on Lille.”
Hazard is on the wish list of a number of clubs including Real Madrid and Barcelona, but the youngster does not appear keen on a move to Spain despite his love for everything La Liga.
It is understood that Hazard does not want to join a big club to sit on the bench which he feels he may end up doing should he opt to join Real or Barca.
“Spain is perhaps the best place for my style of play, but I think that you have to be at either Barca or Real Madrid to win titles there,” Hazard said.
“It is harder to play at a big club at my age.”

It’s obvious the way he is talking is just in general the interviewer could have spoken about any well known English team I think the response would have been the same. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is some reverse sort of plot to make arsene get his priorities sorted and buy him. Look Eden is a great player I have watched him many times but you forget about the talent we have at the club the ox has impressed me alot and once jack is back we will have that but more creativity in midfield. I would love Eden to sign for arsenal but no player is bigger than the club and arsenal would survive without him.

Hi Johan(South Africa) I don’t think its about d Trophies for Hazard and Spurs have clearly not won 1 just yet in ages. I am beginning to dislike Hazard simply because he comes across like an opportunist to me with his flirtatious comments rather than as a focused footballer. He has the Nasristic tendency and will just jump off the boat when d going is rough. He wants to play with World Stars, Bale,Modric,Kjancer(for goodness sake) we have Robin Van Persie,Sagna,Song,Rosicky,Arshavin if he truly wants that. I think we have Ox and Ryodinho and hardly need this guy anymore. Someone in d middle of d park would be more ideal and while we are at it, I don’t care if he is a 30Million pound player or not as long as he delivers, its not about the cost price, just ask Chelsea and Liverpool

For anyone to now look at Tottenham and say that’s where I now need to go to take my football career to the next level when they could’ve also gone to Arsenal just shows how far we have fallen from being looked at as a great team.

Sure we have Ryo and the Ox coming through in seasons to come but at this rate how long will it be until one of them more likely Ryo than the Ox starts wondering if they should take their footballing talent elsewhere?

We need a board that’s willing to support Arsene in obtaining the players he originally scouts, not a board that continuously forces him to lower his standards in regards to signing players then leaves him out in the cold to take the full brunt of the fans anger.

    This is bullshit!!

Then he says “Moi encore (Me Again (for emphasis)) , I haven’t signed anything”

To be honest I think he’s just flirting with them, as he’s done with God knows how many clubs in the past. They don’t pay decent wages (they pay even less than us) and he doesn’t know who the manager would be, so it would be a pretty dumb move IMO.

This was the tradition introduced to Arsenal fc by Peter Hill wood & co, which usmanov, David Dean & co, protested against but could’nt do anything bc they waren’t part of the board. WE ARE ARSENAL FC. a team who used to win trophies regularly , but now just compete. and end with nothing , but 4th place every year, well i want to see more than that. cl football brings in around 20-30 million every year, and we have been in it every year, but where is the glory, and where has the money gone that u the fan pays evey week, is 4th place good enough for u,? is being beaten in the carling cup final by a team who was relegated good enough for u, is any thing good enough for you for arsenal fc. apart from challenging for prem title, cl title, fa cup champions.even carling cup winners,. or is 4th spot all u crave for. ??

    Dear Stooge Finder,

I have read you assessmnet of my comment and i find it rather strange. I strongly accept, you are entitled to your own opinion. However, what is clear, Arsenal is a big team which has gone 7 years without a silverware. It a high time we stopped going with glories of the past. Most big teams have had a successful history and they are no more.

There are overwheleming reasons for that scenario are very clear. As someone who claims to be following the Premier league very well, i would expect you to be in the know.

Every good records for Arsenal, some ranging over 100 years have been broken due to the selfish interests of the Board and partly Wenger,s phillosophy. Arsenal have ceased being a destination/holding point for star players.

Your main centre of weakness seems to be dwelling on short term gains without looking at the broad perspective of the matter. You seem to be so complacent with the current situation that you have lowered your level of expection ie looking forward to getting the 4th position in the premier, which has become Wenger’s trademark, celeblating all night long because Arsenal have drawn with a mediocre team. This cannot be taken serious as an an achievement by a club of Arsenal’s stature, but rather, it can be viewed as work in progress.

Hazad has the freedom of choice and if it is Spurs,i wish him success. However he should not misjudge the present form of the club with history.Bale may be out soon and same with Modric but he should be prepared for the challenge when their manager leaves for the England job.Arsenal has the history and an excellent manager for his progress.however, arsenal delay in deals has always robbed them of their target. It saddens my heart for Aresne to always discover players for others to buy.

    A: Is Hazard quality? Yes
B: Is he one of the current flavor of the month players? Yes
C: Will he make it in the EPL? Yes
D: Will we go into a bidding war to sing him? No
E: Will Arsenal have any less class if they don’t sign Eden? No
F is for Fail: Will Spurs have any more class by signing Eden? NO!

G: ‘Arry is gonna coach England, his Ego needs it, so citing him as the Spurs coach is a big mistake.

I’d love to see him at the Emirates, but if he would actually prefer to play for a club like Spurs then I don’t want him! I want a player who knows what it is to play for Arsenal and wants to genuinely play here. There are plenty of other creative midfielders out there we should/could also sign that would be just as good as Hazard. Gotze in particular. Hazard is being puffed up and his price highly over rated.

Our priority over the summer should be to sign players before Euro price inflation due to good play. They should sign and be with us for a full pre-season tour to get to know their teammates and start developing team chemistry. The priorities need to be (in order) a creative midfielder with true experience and proven quality, a goal poacher up front like Podolski, Klaas, Higuain, Alvaro Negredo, etc (or 2 if we lose RVP, because if we do it better be for 40 Million+ & reinvest that money ASAP). and a versatile defensive player that is Vertonghen. Sign those 3 players and bring back players like Ryo while letting go of a few players who aren’t gonna play (ever!) like Squid, Almunia, Bendtner, Chamakh, Park.

  74. Johnno says:

I can’t seeing him joining Spurs because they’ll probably lose Ade unless he halves his wage demands but would City sell to them if they’re going to be a title rival? If Redknapp leaves I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bale follow out. Don’t know about Modric as Chelsea will finish fifth or sixth and Arsenal will snap up fourth so I doubt he’d want to go to Chelsea.

He won’t go to City because they have too many players and too much money to kick him out of the team and replace him with someone else if he has a lean run. I can’t really see him coming to Arsenal unless he sets his heart on it like Fab did with Barca and we stump up 20-25m plus a player or two. Diaby, Chamack and 25m would be a decent offer for them, but I can’t see it happening.

Liverpool, despite their history, won’t be challenging for anything worth bothering with for a long time. They’re a rabble with a poor board and uninventive manager. I can’t see what could possibly be attractive about joining them at the moment, unless you’re a boyhood fan of the club.

I almost completely expect him to be unveiled at Old Trafford. He’d probably be playing more as a central attacking midfielder there with Nani and Valenica on the wings. United have the transfer money, the wealth to pay high wages, genuine prestige (unlike City, Chelsea and Tottenham who have no real history to boast of), and in opening in midfield with an inclination to go for young players with a manager like SAF.

Can’t see him landing at Arsenal, but stranger things have happened…

Their is only one world class player left in RVP and he will leave, so why would he want to come….big players like to go to clubs with ambition and play along side other big players….Arsenal is no longer that kind of a club.

for a start we were never going to get him because of his price, fact. secondly that interview is bollocks, read the sky sports news article, which is a much more valid source, and he said a move their would interest him but theres no deal in place, simple as. Also I beleive Gotze is a much more likely target and a better one as well, Hazard is more of a winger which we dont need where as Gotze is similar to how Cesc was, Hazard was never going to be an Arsenal player but at the end of the day he isnt guarenteed to be a spuds one either, all these people jumping the gun before getting their facts straight are overeacting.

I think Hazard is desperate to move to the English league. So far we can see that he fancies Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs, unfortunately Chelsea has already got Juan Mata and Arsenal and Spurs won’t spend 30M quid just for one player. With 30M in Wenger’s pocket he could buy 3 players.

Don’t be dreaming Wenger’d buy Götze or Hazard! Remember Pirès, Henry, Wiltord, Ljungberg, Vieira, Bergkamp. All of them are legends and each cost us less than 15M!

I truly believe Wenger should sign unsettled players such as Podolski. He’s as unsettled as Henry & Bergkamp were!

@ Richmike- you didn’t really just say that Eden Hazard wouldn’t dislodge Aaron Lennon did you? – after that I can’t believe you have actually seen him play. If he ends up at Tottenham I think it would represent more than just missing out on a signing; it would be damning, indisputable evidence of what many know already and many more are waking up to- that Arsenal are going backwards on the pitch and those that dictate money matters prioritise profit maximisation solely, with no significant desire of possessing England’s best playing squad. Wenger has now gone as far as publically indicating his desire for Hazard to sign, in the desperate hope that Kroenke, Gazidis and the rest of the Eberneezer’s listen. Instead, they ignore such calls- look at Juan Mata for example last summer, surely not Hazard to Tottenham next. Instead they concentrate on arranging money spinning tours to Nigeria, make Wenger move his Austrian training camp to the Far East, announce a new corporate lounge at the Emirates like a new signing. There was a time not so long ago when Tottenham fans celebrated a 4-4 draw with us like winning the treble- gone are those days- our reputation is evaporating quickly, and alas if current trends continue- we may soon be looking at our ambitious neighbours with envy at their world superstars and celebrating ourselves if we manage a draw. This scenario isn’t a twilight zone fantasy, it is a VERY real possibility.
