Henri Lansbury Given Arsenal Ultimatum
Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury has avowed to break into the Gunners first team next season after spending the last six months at Norwich City, where he helped the Norfolk side win promotion to the Premiership.
The 20 year-old was very proud to help the Canaries in a momentous season, but Lansbury’s one wish is to return to the Emirates and win his place in the Arsenal midfield.
“I just want to try and force my way into the Arsenal side next season,” he said.
“I have to come back raring to go, to be strong and try and take my place. I’m ready to prove myself here, and show the boss that I’m ready to be in the first team.”
There is one sticky problem though. According to the Sun, Lansbury only has one year left on his contract at Arsenal, and Wenger has supposedly given him the ultimatum of either signing a contract extension or being put on the transfer list.
If he refuses to re-sign, there is every possibility that he could still be playing at the Emirates next season…..but for Norwich!

Good player but I think he needs another season at norwhich in the premier league so he can gain first team experience at that level. He’s got to stay though overall n I think he’ll be ready next season

I would bet money that a lot of the same fans saying get rid of Lansbury, would have said the same thing about Wilshire last summer, or Alex Song the year before that. It’s extremely hard to get into the Arsenal first team, and most players don’t make it. However, Wenger himself said that Lansbury is a future first team player, and I doubt that any fan would know better than Wenger himself…

well in all honesty we are a bit fed up of yongsters that think they are good enough. Lansbury maybe good, but hes NO proven inernational winner. hes NO proven leader, hes merley a younster that needs to prove his worth.
Nobody has a RIGHT to play for arsenal. its something you earn. Lansbury has to prove hes good enough, simple as.

We have to trust in our youth as ever, we have to support IGNASI, BARTLEY, FRIMPONG, LANSBURY, JAY, and others. we are Arsenal and we are special team because of them. I believe we don’t need Bolton or Blackburn players to win a trophy.

@ sherif. are u wenger in disguise. that sounds exactly like something arsene would say. lol. anyways if we flog denilson and rosicky, and fab we will have space for three more midfielders and we know diaby will get injured over the course of the season so we can give lansbury a shot. buy alvarez and either give nasri the fab role or buy a replacement. as for defensive mids. i think frimpong needs a loan spell, but coquelin has been doing exceptionally well for lorient and should get a shot as back up to song. mifield conundrum solved. on to defenders, jagielka preferrabely or samba will be fine. we just need a real hard man to partner kosc, verminator or djourou. you have to get the balance. samba or jagielka will be the hardmen and verm, kosc djou the silky ones. a la rio, vidic and pique puyol. keepers, fabinski and sczensny is good to battle for no. 1 and mannone no.3.

But Lansbury is a good player..A big match player…Remember the match in which we beat the yids 4-1 in the Carling Cup??We need to trust our youth but for this season we need to buy players to seal the mouth of the moaners speaking against Wenger..The biggest signing according to me will be David Dein which is unlikely to happen…This greedy board members are making Wenger the scapegoat…The board says Wenger has 40mill to spend but its actually maybe less than 15mill..The moaners only see whats happening on the pitch not off the pitch..I LOVE Arsenal not Wenger too..Victoria Concordia Crescit…Cheer up Anti AKB Brigade and support Wenger for 1more season that will be good for both the team and fans..

To sort out our defensive problems, people always suggest Cahill, Samba or Jagielka. Why not go for someone like Chiellini and rival United and Vidic as best in the world. I know he is expensive but I think he’s what we need. A leader who will command our final third all game!

Lansbury is a good player; as good as David Bentely. Look how much Spuds paid..18 million? AW, get his contract extended, i’m sure we could sell him for at least 10million in 2 or 3 years time.

@Andy & @Tim – i agree with both of you, some great ideas, but i personally think we need to play a bit more barca like and defend as a team more because we attack a lot we leave big gaps in defence and in barca the mdf’s and sometimes the fwd’s help out whereas at arsenal Some players help i.e.wilshere, RVP, Song, walcott &……thats it…..

I thought he signed a new long term contract last year. Well thats what it said on Arsenal.com

i think transfer window is from the end of the season to 31st august in England. i read some where. Well Season is over with the champions league. So Need to sort out the defense as soon as possible.

Everyone’s missing the point. The kid isn’t signing a contract. He knows that he needs to be registered for the 2012/2013 season so that will be when Arsenal will decide whether to keep him but if he doesn’t extend his contract Arsenal will receive nothing for him so Arsene is right to give him the ultimatum of sign or be sold. He’s one of those with a year to prove that he can make the step up to the fringes of the 1st team. Fringe player is good enough for a 21yo.
