Henry – I can help Arsenal even if I don’t play
The returning Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is well aware that he doesn’t have the same speed that helped him become a world beater ten years ago, but he is certain he can contibute in other ways, even if he doesn’t play.
He said: “Right from the start, as I said, it looks more like I am going to be a bench player, or maybe not on the bench but more of an out-of-the-side type of player. I can definitely have some input out there, to talk to the guys and let them know what it means to win. I am a competitor and that will never leave my body. I am just going to help those guys get through some difficult moments.
“If you ask anybody involved with Arsenal Football Club or anybody that loves it, ‘can you help this team?’ Whatever it is; five seconds, five minutes, ten minutes, being in the dressing room trying to have some input of what you know and what you have learned – it was a no-brainer.”
“When the boss spoke to me about coming back, I wanted to make sure I didn’t disturb the team that was in place,” Henry continued. “That was important to me. I am a fan, don’t forget that.
“The team did something incredible to come back to where they are right now. We are far from the first position, but if you talk about what the team has done since [losing 8-2 at] Manchester United, they have done pretty well.”
Just having his winning mentality in the dressing room will be a big boost to the team, but if he does get onto the pitch, he is looking to be having the same sort of effect that Ryan Giggs has at Man Utd.
Henry said: “I remember Dennis Bergkamp and he used to be the main front guy. Suddenly he was playing behind the striker and if you have the awareness to see things before players, you can get away with not having your legs.
“If you look at Ryan Giggs now, it is not the same Ryan Giggs who used to take the ball from the wing and dribble past everyone and deliver a great cross. But what Ryan Giggs has is he can see the game, he is always available, he puts himself in a position where he can receive the ball alone and then you will never lose your touch. That is what I am going to try to bring to this team if I have to play.
“Five seconds, five minutes, ten minutes, being in the dressing room trying to have some input of what you know and what you have learned – it was a no-brainer.”
It would be nice if Thierry can get some minutes against Leeds tomorrow. Let’s hope that Arsenal shoot into a comfortable lead so that he can come on the pitch without any pressure……..

the difference is that Giggs never left united at anytime during his career, which means he was able to help his team win the cl instead of jumping ship. Good to have you back though and don’t forget to remind Wenger how good winning was when we still had quality players.
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Wengers has has a small transfer budget over last 7′season due to loan repayment but wenger has still kept us in Top4 in Premiership and go us to Semi-Final’s and Final’s in that time!! He has performed Miracles on a budget!! Respect that!!!
Fans need to learn to be loyal to wenger because wenger is loyal to club!

He can play , he can encourage to play and as an experienced player can act as an advisor to the manager. I think he can still score a couple of goals. Can he be the future manager of AFC?

Hey who knows, maybe Fabregas will return when hes 34 years old. Another player who jumped ship for more money and when he’s all washed up and playing for a MLS team will say no he’s always been an Arsenal fan. Henry should never have left, if he was a true Arsenal fan he would have stayed. And why the hell should we loan an ex Arsenal player just to give our boys some inspiration/confidence? That is the managers/coaches/skippers job is it not? What about when he leaves? we are left with another hole. Sorry, as much of a legend as he is, Wenger should have rather bought a permanent striker as we only have one. I understand no defensive signings because they are all injured, but we are really really short on strikers.
We all love Henry, but a loan striker is not the solution. It’s only postponing the problem.

Wenger should give park a chance, keep Henry as back up, let him train the youngsters, show em a thing or two. But from a fan’s perspective, seeing the king back in action will be the most sensational experience, really evokes nostalgia of the unbeaten hay-days.
