I don’t believe Wenger said that!
If I hadn’t read it in the Guardian I would have just laughed, but they have made a serious accusation against Arsene Wenger.
They reckon that the Arsenal manager said after his team’s win at Portsmouth on Wednesday that Chelsea and and Carlo Ancelotti “will drop points and steadily implode over the remainder of the season and sack you in the summer. If not before …”
Now we all know Arsene Wenger, and I just cannot believe that the normally mild-mannered Frenchman would ever say such a thing about another manager, not even a rival in the title race.
The Guardian then goes on to give Ancelotti’s answer to the (alleged) comments by Wenger.
He said: “He is a good magician if he said that after that game. He is a good magician,”
“We had some problems in December and didn’t win important games, drawing against Everton, Birmingham and West Ham, but it’s normal to have these moments. Some teams had bad moments before, and we had that period that wasn’t so good,”
“Arsenal and Manchester United will be difficult opponents. But, until now, Chelsea are in first place in the Premier League and we deserve to have stayed at the top of the list,” he continued.
“Manchester United and Arsenal are very close to us. It’s a very competitive championship and will be until the end of the season. But I think the problems are over now for Chelsea.”
Pretty mild stuff compared to what Wenger (supposedly) said about him, but do any Arsenal supporters believe that those comments attributed to Wenger could be true?

There is now a correction appended to the Guardian article, as follows:
“This article was amended on 1 January 2009. The original attributed to Arsène Wenger a remark he did not make (that Chelsea “will drop points and steadily implode over the remainder of the season and sack you in the summer. If not before …”). This has been deleted and the correct quote inserted in the story.”

article amended 1 January “2009″ says it all
the guardian editors are just shite for commiting such a crime.Wenger would never say such a thing.
he said it and we know it. but is there anything wrong in saying your rival will drop points. well , lets put it this way. if he says we are going to win the league. would any body raise eye brows, but how do we win the league if our rivals dont drop points.
