Injury Woes Continue At Arsenal As Bacary Sagna Breaks Leg
It is bad enough losing to your nearest rivals on derby day, but just to make matters worse and put the cherry on top of the iced cake one of our better defenders, Bacary Sagna, breaks his leg and will be out for at least three months.
Sagna was injured in what, at first, appeared to be a innocuous challenge with Benoit Assou-Ekotto. It was not the challenge, but the fall that did the damage and Sagna immediately signalled to the bench which suggested something serious was wrong.
After the match Arsene Wenger said, “We are very worried about his injury. He’s in hospital. It is early to say but the first signs don’t look good. It is the fibula and ankle and he has gone to be checked.”
OLBG Football Tipster Competition – Free Entry, £3000 of Cash Prizes Monthly***
Late last evening Arsenal released the following statement. It reads, “The Club can confirm that Bacary Sagna sustained a fracture to the fibula in his right leg during the match against Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon. Further detailed investigations and assessments will take place on Monday. It is expected that Bacary will be out for approximately three months and a surgical procedure cannot be ruled out at this stage. Everyone at the Club wishes Bacary a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him playing again as soon as possible.”
We all hope that he is back playing soon and we echo the clubs wishes in wishing Sagna a speedy recovery. Things are just going from bad to worse at Arsenal right now, and that glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel seems to have just got that much further away.

I wonder if Wenger still believes he doesnt need a defending coach coz that will be very selfish. We the fans are suffering and we need a quick solution. Kindly Wenger do something out of the ordinary. Make sacrifices. By the way where was Ox yesterday. Could he also please consider resting Ramsey coz he looks fatigued.

For sure if Arsenal continues like this, definitely in this current 2011/12 season it will go trophiless again!
In defense,Arsenal needs to sell ‘potato’ injry-prone people like Djourou,Sagna,Koscielny,Jenkinson,Vermaleen, etc and replace them with a good number of the following elegant non-injury prone defenders in the 2012 January transfer window so as to strengthen its current weak and porous/easily penetratable/permeable defense:
Chris Samba,Scott Dann,Leighton Baines,Michel Bastos [Lyons],Subotic[Borussia Dortmund],Phil Jagielka,Hulk[FC Porto],Kaboul [Tottenham Hotspur],Luke Young and Stephen Warnock and Barry Bannan[both Aston Villa],Nigel De Jong, Fabricio Coloccini[Newcastle],etc.

Well, it is starting to look bad.
We have now got our 1st defenders all injured, and i cannot see us winning any games with our defence as it is now.
All at once relegation looks more than possible now.
AFC is falling apart and it started 3 seasons ago.
\\
It seems now to me that the board is waiting for AW to leave on his own accord, because firing him would cost them too much.
I cannot understand how they(the board) has sat and watch this team disintegrate since 3 seasons ago, all the fans saw it, everyone else outside AFC saw it, yet none of them (the board) seemed to worry at any time, and let it continue on up to this present time, and it is still going on.
I cant see what they have in mind for AFC at the moment, but it does not look good by any means. Players are starting to realise that they need to start looking for means of escape, because they will be advised by their agents to do so.
Maybe AFC will be relegated this season, i hope not.
It has been a sad last 3 seasons for all AFC supporters and i feel for all of you as i hope you feel for me.
I did see some improvement in the way AFC is approaching games, but it all went out the window the last match, the substitutes were ineffective, completely wrong and the players are starting to wonder “what am i doing here”.
It looks to me as if no one cares anymore except the supporters.
Opinions divided. What do you think?

If I could be/were Wenger,in the 2012 January transfer window I could just decide whole-heartedly to spend a lot of money-whichever amount of money and make a transfer raid on Tottenham Hotspur and buy the following Tottenham Hostspur players so as to strengthen Arsenal’s current weak squad so as to be winning trophies:
Gareth Bale,Kaboul,Walker,Luka Modric,Defoe,Aaron Lennon and Giovanni Dos Santos

oh c’mon! like you didn’t see it coming. every arsenal fan knows about our history with injuries. arsenal players are always the ones to come off worse in such one on one situations and it is expected that every season at least 2 arsenal players will be seriously injured. why isn’t hernandez of manu in a hospital right now after that challenge from cole? nway my point is we have a sick manager who very well knows how seriously injuries destroy our season but he still sturbonly sticks with a small squad of mostly very average players. so sagna our most reliable and probably best defender is now injured and guess who his replacement is? well you saw how bale skipped passed him like he wasn’t even there. There’s the international break coming and we all know RVP is way past his injury due date! then you face MCFC. Arsenal will not finish this season on the second page of the table! i say this b’coz i look at the teams in the division and i just can’t see what teams arsenal can comfortably beat i.e can we really say arsenal will win games away to Wigan, Everton, Aston Villa, Stoke,Sunderland? and i will not mention the top 6 clubs!! We’l be lucky not to get relegated.
Where are all the so called AKBs now. bloody hell!

No,Arsenal just needs to SACK/FIRE Wenger now and replace him with an elegant,serious,skillful,tactful,non-mean and non-economical/non-economiser with money coach like Frank Rijkaard,Guus Hiddink,Martin Keown,Tony Adams,Dunga,Frank De Boer,Pep Guardiola,Dennis Bergkamp etc so as to be winning trophies.
Also,Arsenal just needs to SACK/FIRE the WHOLE of its current mean,selfish,egocentric/self-centered,greedy, money-making and economical/economist board and management in general including Ivan Gazidis apart from only people like Stan Kroenke and Usmanov and replace it with a new serious,focused,committed,non-greedy,non-money-making,non-selfish,non-egocentric/non-self-centered,non- mean and non-economical/non-economist with money board and management in general so as to be winning trophies.
If Arsenal does the above 2 things, for sure before God it will be winning trophies but if it doesn’t do the above 2 things, for sure before God Arsenal will keep-on/continue going TROPHILESS/CUPLESS year in year out, season in season out.
For God’s sake YES MORE BUT NO LESS OF THE ABOVE!

Yes, I agree Van Persie is due his seasonal long term rest, along with Walcott. Ramsey, Arteta amd Benayoun are due injuries too along the 10+ game guideline. Did I mention Rosicky yet, not that he makes a difference on the pitch.
Who is going to be the breaking point? Mertesacker being injured? Arteta? Szczesny?
I can’t see how we can be positive about the situation, especially with January so many games away – then the African Nations Cup starts.
All we can realistically do is accept the inevitible. Necessity is the mother of invention, and until the club truly hits rock bottom with no hope of recovery using the current model … Will necessary changes take place with wages, buying, training, squad size, philosophy and attitude.
A single owner has more to lose than a board of co-ownership. To avoid higher recovery costs later Kroenke will have to take preventative measures – perhaps making wholesale changes from Wenger downwards.
Whatever happens, love Arsenal while the club changes, maybe for the worse at first and then the slow recovery. Realistically don’t set your sights too high to avoid the potential for melancholia.

@tinkozafgooner, don’t make stupid submissions here. Arsenal has one of the largest squads and dat is why our wage bill has grown. What is happenng to the team now is tough luck. All of you were saying Tottenham will beat us silly before the match, but we ended up outplayig Totttenham, whom has one of the best teams in epl. Is it Wenger that is giving the lads injury? All hope is not lost as we showed yesterday that we can still compete @ the highest level. Coscielny will play right back position when vaemelen comes back, until sagna gets back. What we just need is one very good creative midfielder and an out and out attacker, some luck and good officiating. Csezny should be given some competitio in Fabiansky as he seems to be getting too comfortable. Support your team and stop hating.

Sold Eboue before we had any real cover for the wingbacks? Just like every other decision Wenger has made when selling or buying players or choosing formation he has go it wrong.
Can he just fall on his sword and resign now. Everyone except Wenger saw Ramsay was having a terrible day in midfield and could not release Theo and Gervinho fast enough. Lost the ball and his man too many times. He is a great player but when its not ur day its not ur day.
Wenger has lost it and is too stubborn to admit. Please retire and smell the roses with ur wife somewhere in France

Those saying our defence is shit probably did not watch the match. To consider the opposition we faced yesterday, our defence was solid. 4 things did us in namely 1. Scesny was not at his best. I think its time to start giving him some competition. He also needs to stop talking toooo much and concentrate on kkeping. 2. Arteta was skillful but not creative enough. 3. jevinho was wastefull which was down to luck. 4. Referee was awful in allowing vendervart goal after he brought down the ball with hi hand. i saw positives in cocuelin, Gibbs, Song. If we continue playing the way we did yesterday, we are surely picking lots of points from our next few matches. i wish coscielny wll cover for Sagna when vaemelin pairs per mats at the back. im not happy we lost, but it’s not all gloom. fabregas, clichy, and Nasri were still with us the past few seasons when we’d been losing to Tottenham even in more annoying manner. Chelsea lost so many games last season but they were still able to put their act 2gether to finish 2nd. Every team has its own bad spells. So please stop hating..

In the 2012 January transfer window Arsenal should just spend a lot of its money like Man-Unitrd,Man-City,Real Madrid, Chelsea,Barcelona, etc and buy a good number of the following elegant non-injury prone players so as to be winning trophies:

@ Bowin I agree with you for the most part, but Wenger has had enough time to prove he is a worthy manager. His time is up. His biggest mistake was not bolstering the defense, a problem we have had for 3 SEASONS. He buys players like Squillaci, Koscielny and expect to hold players like Rooney, Drogba, Balotelli etc etc. We could have gotten a Cahill or a Samba for the price of both of them and we know we would have gotten our money’s worth. Wengers days of try and testing are over and have continually caught us at the wrong time.
Then his second biggest mistake, one which I suppose can partially be blamed on the board and Kroenke, was the lack of investment during the last transfer window. They PROMISED world class signings, yet waited till the last minute to sign b class players. Honestly as much as I like Arteta, I don’t think he is as good as Fabregas. Benayoun is injured already ffs. Look at all the injuries we are having now, Wilshere, Benayoun, Vermalaen, Sagna, Diaby the list goes on. Yet Wenger has nothing DECENT to replace them with. Look at Chelsea, City, United, Liverpool…they all have depth in their squad, so when shit hits the fan, they have decent subs.
The third problem is WTF happened to all the money generated from the sales of Clichy, Bendter, Toura, Djoure, Eboue, Nasri, Fabregas???? Nevermind the millions we made in the years before following the sales of Henry, Adebayor, Viera, Pires, Gallas etc etc. We haven’t bought in any players of equal level to match those we sold.
If Wenger has not been given adequate funds to do his job properly, WTF doesn’t he say something?? He is the one being burned at the stake and taking most of the rap. I’ll tell you why. They pay him well to do exactly what he is doing. Spend little, and make huge profits AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FANS. The only reason they keep doing this is because the supporters keep giving in to their empty promises.
No more I say. Kroenke, AW and board, please make like a tree and get out of our club.

Our problems are compunded by bad luck. Almost all our defenders are in the sick bay and we have now had to take Song into central defence. The guy has been on song lately and can seem to do no wrong. He scored at Bolton and created our goal yesterday. I only wonder what the story would be in the papers if we could have him playing in his preferred prosition regularly.
Having said all that i still think in January AW needs to overhaul the defence. Offload Djouru, Squilaci and send Jenkinson on loan. We need two strong central defenders and a powerful RB to cover Bacary. Arshavin and Theo are always blowing hot and cold (mostly cold). As senior players you would expect them to lift the team when chips are down but they are the first to fold up. We need more potent wingers to supplement Gervinho. We can continue to build from there.
These are challenging times for the arsenal faithful but one thing I know for a fact is that we wont be in the relegation battle.

You guys are crazy. Baky has broken his leg and no-one wish him quick recovery. I really do. Jenkinson is the biggest shit that played for our beautiful club and it’s Wenger’s fault. Gervinho is just useless headless chicken and Ramsey just as he can’t pass the ball anymore. And to Arsenal away fans that chant against Adebayor, you are big disgrace for all of us. You should be ashamed!

Gunner forever,
You are absolutely right that we should be wishing Sagna a quick recovery.
The Justarsenal admin should begin a post for all fans to wish him well.
As for Adebayor I need to disagree because the way you are treated in life has everything to do with the way you act.
“every action has an equal and opposite reaction” (newtons law)and Adebayor treated team mates club and fans with contempt, greed and disrespect and therefore deserves everything the gooners give him.
In other words HELL.

Shepherd, you are 100% right:Wenger as from 2005 he sells good elegant players and replaces them with “potato/avocado” ones instead of getting perfect replacements for them. But a person/coach like Sir.Alex Ferguson when he sells a certain player,he will get a very perfect replacement for him,not ‘potatoes/avocados’ like how Wenger does.

@UZO@Naija dont be stupid. How can you say Scezny was not at his best. He got caught out by one fine strike but made a hell lot more saves ensuring that we didn’t get beat by like 5-1. And you also keep going on about the kind of opposition we were playing i.e one of the best teams in the league. Yes Spurs and 12 other EPL teams have better squads (or atleast better motivated squads) than ours. So brace yourself because there’s more better teams coming to kick shit out of us! Nway I bet you are just one of the AKBs and i seriously can’t see how you fail to see what kind of trouble Arsenal is headed for in the coming months!*T!(@#(@&
