Is Arsene Wenger’s Future In Doubt? – A Bookies View
Whether it be in the newspapers, on fans forums or on radio phone-ins there have been some Arsenal fans suggesting, or even demanding in some cases that Arsene Wenger should be sacked as Arsenal manager.
The bookmakers have been having a field day with Arsenal all summer, but they have also been having sleepless nights as they struggle to keep up with all the comings and goings at the Emirates. Well there are no comings at the time of writing just goings it seems.
Before the season started Arsene Wenger was 25/1 (26.0) to be the first manager to leave or be sacked this season in the Premier League. Today those odds are as short as 3/1 (4.0) in places. Wow that is some cut in price, and the bookies do not get it wrong often. Thank goodness for Steve Kean and Blackburn Rovers. Kean is now odds on favourite to be the first manager to leave with odds of 5/6 (1.83) available now.
If, and it is a very big if Arsene Wenger leaves who would be in the running for the job. Well the favourite this morning is Remi Garde who is the current manager of Lyon. Garde spent three years at Arsenal in the mid to late 90′s and he was actually recommended to the club when Wenger was managing in Japan. His odds are just 6/1 (7.0) to succeed Arsene Wenger.
Jose Mourinho is a manager that likes a challenge and perhaps he would like a return to the Premier League. Depending on which bookmaker you bet with you can get odds ranging from 7/1 (8.0) up to 12/1 (13.0) on the special one being the next boss at the Emirates.
Carlo Ancelotti is out of work, and he too may have unfinished business in the Premier League like Mourinho, after his sacking by Chelsea at the end of last season. He is available at odds of 16/1 (17.0).
Ex Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is another out of work manager today and he is available at odds of 33/1 (34.0) with VCBet this morning, but with Irish firm Paddy Power odds of just 8/1 (9.0) are available. Do they know something we don’t perhaps?
In total there are over 60 names on the list of possible replacements and one name has been attracting lots of interest this morning. That name is Martin O’Neill. At Paddy Power his odds are 16/1 (17.0), but over at William Hill he is now as short as 5/1 (6.0) to be the next manager of Arsenal and has just replaced Garde as the favourite.
Deep down can you really see Arsene Wenger walking away, or even being sacked from his post. No neither can I. Some people reading this will want him to go, but it isn’t going to happen in my honest opinion. The prices from the bookies suggest that as well, but they do make interesting reading none the less. Who would your choice be?

Wenger when he sign for Nancy in 1984 : “The failure would still remain in the same position because we can not remain forever at the same level because the other is progressing and you are necessarily condemn one day or another. So I think in this business, you need a lot of ambitions and the desire to climb as high as possible.”. A basic principle he forgot.

Arsene Wenger number 1. I cant take much more of the negative press about Arsene Wenger. He is the best manager in the world.
Last season the ‘pundits’ endlessly asked for a new goalkeeper! In Arsene’s defence he is trying to develop and nurture good goalkeeping…
Arsenal and Wenger is not the problem.
The problem is the influx of OIL TYCOON MONEY, Russian billionaires etc. These teams are making huge losses but are going to outperform a club like Arsenal who are on a BUDGET.

we sack him but then what? we have two more days in the transfer window. if he is sacked we definitely won’t get any new players coz we have to look for a new manager. In Arsenal and Wenger I trust, eventhough it can be frustrating sometimes.

Wenger needs to go, he is out of touch with modern day football. His idea is good, buy young talent, turn them into big stars. But Arsenal need experience to help these young talents. Not too long ago Arsenal had a second team that would have done well in the Premiership, and was consistently challenging in the Carling Cup. Now we have a poor first team with no second team. That was one of the weakest sides I have play for Arsenal in all the time I have supported them, how he can say we don’t need to sign anyone is ridiculous. Wenger needs help!! He has done so much for the Arsenal, but I think it is time he steps down (should not be fired, he has done to much for the club to be sacked).
I’d like to see Martin O’neill in or Owen Coyle, both would play the Arsenal way, and still bring in young talent, however both are more in touch with modern football and therefore would recognise we need to sign some experience too. Both are hungry and fairly young managers (younger then the ageing Wenger, who seems to have forgotten any sort of football tactics.)
However, Wenger should stay involved with the club, ether has a scout or some sort of youth developer, at least until ether Coyle or O’neill have settled in.

Mourinho at Arsenal just doesnt seem rights. That doesnt mean that I dont want him at Arsenal even though the style of football oppose each others.

Sometimes amazed me when people condemn AW, if only is A is the club problem then a solution will have been proffer long a go by Wenger or the boardroom, but the case if different here. Fans should direct their grievance to the boardroom who can not sign good player and pay good wages, leave Wenger out of this, his has been a good coach and he will always be.
considering the current football market and the money at given to Wenger do you think he will be able to get up to 3 good player and who determine their wages, all there are factors that would actually tells if the board room is getting it right or wrong and stop blaming an innocent soul

we might be shit but do you really want us like city? Pumped up on silicon like some two-bit tart? So we dont recognise ourselves in the mirror?
City aint a club any more. I dont understand how their fans can still support them.

anyone in any other field of business would have been sacked long ago.8-2 should be the final straw..forget about injuries.he signed jenkinson, had kos and djourou for seasons now. Traore is experienced enough. Wenger puts his faith in these mediocre players (just like stephanovs before at OT) AND TIME AND AGAIN HE GETS IT HORRIBLY WRONG.
#why???
because they are cheap! OR usless..or BOTH!!…YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!
Wenger is useless and everyone knows it..forget the board, wenger buys the players and delivers the tactics.
No other manager would have bought the squid for 5.5 million!….wenger is a feeble, deluded, gutless idiot and he needs to go ASAP.

I think Wenger is the patsy with regard to signing new players the money for transfers and wages is down to the board. With that said the lack of any plan or tactics is down to the coaching staff and Im afraid falls at Wengers feet. Personally I think Pat Rice should go and bring in some fresh blood its a strategy that seems to work for Ferguson at Utd. I’d give Wenger until the end of the season as I feel sacking him now would only make matters even worse. If possible try and get David Dein in a advisory role?

now is not the time to sack wenger, with the players we have no one is going to do a better job.thought very long and hard to find a positive from man u game and eventually found this-we were beaten in a ratio of 4:1 away to the best team in the premier league whereas the spuds lost at home in a ratio of 5:1 to a top four premier team and are currently propping up the bottom of the premier league {long may this continue}but in reality four words can best describe our current predicament WHAT A ******* MESS

People need to think before they write crap, why sack wenger 2 days before the window closes when its gona take up to a week to find his replacement. Whichever manager comes in now is gona need money to spend to bring in his type of players. Wenger said yesterday they are workin hard to find the right players because afc wages are behind other club. Top players cost top wages that the board is not willing to pay so which top class manager will want to work under those restrictions. Now is the wrong time to sack wenger giv him til the end of the season and hopefully he’ll turn it around, if not let him go, change our wage structure and get a top manager in simple

Wenger has been around for 15 going on 16 years. I agree he deserves a second chance. New signings are now crucial and the players mentioned will help build confidence and belief.
Everyone’s saying Wenger is done, and Arsenal have no hope this season. But the last time I checked, the league ran 38 games, not 3. There are still 105 points available, and if we could get 75+ of those, we’ll be right up there, maybe even in contention. People place so much emphasis on beating the top sides. Why not concentrate on beating the previous years bottom 10 home and away. That’s guaranteed you 60 points. You need another 20 points from 18 games, and you’d probably secure the title.
Let’s get behind our side, and show them the faith and support that we all have for months, years, decades gone by.

If Wenger can’t find the right players after selling his two best midfielders then maybe its time to move over and let someone who can find the right players come in.

Bookies are wrong. Wenger staying for as long as he wants. One day he will tell he was offered the Barca role after rjykard and we should be so greatful he turned it down to stay with us AFC.
Ivan the terrible Gazidis and Peter over the hill-wood sit up in their lofty director boxes admiring their bank balances and stay away from that Nasty football stuff being played down below. All they care about is the sensible business model and ensurig shareholder dividends remains healthy.
Now you pair of useless business clowns. You have reaped what you’ve sowed and it us as always who suffers. We need bug protests to force these imbeciles out. They have ZERO football ambition.

Lets look at all the positives this man has done for us in the past, Arsene Wenger is the smartest manager in the world. Sure we may not do as well as we all want this season, but low and behold our manager has always got something up his sleeve. He knows what he is doing. And for christ sake his got Arsene in his name, his made for us!

Leave AW in charge till the end of the season.
Then the board should thank him for his devotion and loyal service by offering him Director of youth Development.
We should then replace him with Pep Guardiola and the good times will roll again.
U never know he might even bring Cesc back with him!

I don’t see Arsene leaving the Emirates. I think fans should just be patient with him while he sorts out his problems in the team. He feels humiliated as well seeing a team of his team’s average age handing him a whitewash of his life. If he still remains defiant after this humiliation, then he is worse than Pharaoh of Egypt who remained defiant to let the children of Israel go.

@GreenkeeprJHB: well said mate. however we are a side that draws 4-4 with a full strength squad. So upsets (with us) are bound to happen and they will.
I’m arsene supporter but i agree sacking him right now would be bad for the club. I don’t really care how many years Wenger has been at arsenal and don’t think we need to carry deadweight because it has been with us for years.
if IF arsene managers to keep us in the top 4 then maybe he will keep his job otherwise it’s goodbye wenger next season. After looking at the team we are fielding this year can anyone truly say that he has been making the right decisions?
He has been a good servant to the club but everything and everyone has an expiry date. It’s just makes the person great when they can see it’s their time to move on.

Wenger just sign some quality. There is no way our manager can no longer spot a player so I am just baffled that he serously thinks our squad is anywhere near strong enough 2 challenge 4 anything. Our best players are leaving as we all knew they would and we don’t seem to even have a plan on or of the pitch . all gooners have been expecting a solid centre back a playmaker as we sold cesc a d midfielder and a replacement 4 nasri . If we end up with a Korean and some chelski rejects I will be even more embarrassed and confused WHAT is going on arsenal ?

i m sick and tired of all this Arsenal and Wenger shit. Look For me if Arsene doesnt buy a DEFENDER or even DEFENDERS sorry, I m not going to watch Arsenal play anymore. why? because I cant watch a team that makes money from player sales and cares less for achievement. Do you know what it means? Arsenal does not care about the Fans anymore. they care about the money. if not, why did they increase the ticket fee and fail to improve the team so as to impress the Extorted fans. Why will they easily let their players go for a good amount and fail to let in good well payed players who they believe might demand for increment in wage structure.
The truth still remains Arsenal management are Greedy and cares less for the fans but cares more for the money. If managers are being sold, Kronke wont mind selling Wenger and buy a BASKET BALL TEAM COACH to replace him for a smaller amount. Fellow FAns is it a crime for Arsenal to produce the World best player. hahaha of course we cant as long as we have bad managers.
With all this fact can I still Watch Arsenal Play if they dont buy a DEFENDER. Absolutely NEVER.

we will never move on if we keep on being nostalgic …yes ,he did great things for the club but what about coming and speak directly to the fans and stop lying and deceiving … we are going down at the moment and every season we get farther away from winning the title (last season we almost did it but only because united and chelsea had a bad season) …and look at where we are now ,8-2 defeat ? and just 1 point after 3 games …he sold every bit of experience that was left on that squad and still he thinks he can win it ..i think he’s delusional
