Is Fabregas close to Arsenal return?

If, as some reports suggest, Thomas Vermaelen leaves Arsenal during the transfer window this summer, the Belgian defender will be the third captain of the Gunners to leave the club in as many seasons. The first in that trio was the Spanish international Cesc Fabregas, who returned to his boyhood club after Barcelona had tried to get him back for a while.

According to the Star, sources at the Catalan club have indicated that Fabregas could be sold this summer,as Barca are planning to rebuild the squad fairly extensively. Despite the fact that Fabregas has struggled to force his way into the first team on a regular basis, he is still regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world and would fetch good money. Fabregas could also be worried about his place in the Spanish national team if he is not playing week in week out.

“If an important offer for Cesc arrives then we will study the situation,” is what the source is supposed to have told the paper.

It is believed that the deal between Arsenal and Barcelona for Fabregas was quite complicated. The Gunners may be entitled to a sizable chunk of any transfer fee Barca got for the 25-year old. There are also reports that we are still owed money on the deal. Barca have quite a large debt and are not able to spend willy-nilly, but the disaster against Bayern Munich has convinced club officials that action is needed at the Nou Camp this summer.

With Fabregas known to keep Arsenal close to his heart and his reported attempt to buy a flat in London for his girlfriend and the mother of his child, it is no surprise that people are putting two and two together and coming up with the notion that he may be heading back to the Emirates. Is it all Paella in the sky, though, what do you think Gooners?

It’d make more sense for him to come home, here, he was loved and used in his favourite position, come home Cesc where you are valued.

    I’m torn on this.

Magnificent player and he would be a great addition. He seems to be Messi’s back up and Xavi may go on for another 4 years. He’s that good and as fit as a fiddle.

I’m torn because he left and not in great circumstances according to many reports. I was never sure of them until he was ‘injured’ and went to a Formula One race instead of watching his team play the final game of the season.

That was unprofessional, especially from a captain and it annoyed many fans.

I would love him back as long as he says he made a massive mistake in leaving in the first place and wants to come back.

the only player i want back from barca is cesc fabregas. song won’t be brought back by arsene because recently he said that ‘song must stay at barca and fight for his place.’ this clearly indicates that arsene don’t want him back.

if Cesc returned to Arsenal it would be a dream come true. I would rather have Cesc back than any other player. If we could get Cesc, A defensive mid, and a striker, we would absolutely dominate. Imagine Jack, Cesc, and Cazorla running the strings for Arsenal. Im watering at the mouth just thinking about that. Please come home Cesc! Arsenal is your real DNA!

I hope we don’t sell Vermalean, yes he is having a bad season but in still believe he is a class CB on his day, i just hope he regains his form and stays at Arsenal, i think its good for the spirit of the club if we don’t keep selling our captain!

I seriously doubt that we would get Cesc back. He was and still is a fantastic player, but I think Arsene has decided to be a bit more ruthless with his players. I don’t think he’ll move backwards to get things ‘how they used to be’. He’ll move forward only.

Fabrigas should just come home and help his team. I guess he will have no problem because he has won the title with Barcelona. This shows that the grass on the other side is not as green as it seems. With us he will know that we value him so highly but he will also be aware that he have to earn the first X1 spot.

arsenal’s top transfer priority should be a defensive midfilder and a world class striker. i would also like to
see an experienced keeper to challenge szczcsny.
we have a good foundation in the team:
    1. mert and kos are a good pairing with tv5 as centerbacks.
    2. monreal and gibbs at left back are good.
    3. sagna and jenkinson good right backs.
    4. we have good deep centermidfilder arteta, ramsey, and

    5. cazorla and rosicky bring quality attacking wise from midfield.

would luv to see fabregas back in an arsenal jersey. He can solve our strike problems cos he is a good and clinical finisher and he plays da striker position in barcelona wen messi is benched or injured n prefered over villa so dat shws hw effective he is infront of goal. He even said it himself dat one day he would luv to return . I knw he will to get da premier league title and make his trophy cabnet complete. So yeah i wanna see him back cos we need da dept in squad.

Barca selling him him can only be good for us even if he doesn’t come back if theres a sell on clause in his contract , some say possibly as high as 50%. Its been mentioned on here that if sold we could get as much 20 million (if the 50% story is true) from any deal , would that then mean if we offered just over 20 million it would make sense Barca selling him back to us especially if moneys still owed to us ?

Copied and pasted from a previous article but its more relevant here… Just thought about this Fabregas thing. If sources are to be believed then we get 50% of his re-sale. This means that if we were to spend 30 mill on him then we;d have 30 mil less for other players but we’d have Fab. If someone else buys him for say 40 mill and we go out and get a 40 mill player with the 20 from Barca and 20 of our own, then we’d only be 20 mill down with a 40 mill player. I can’t see it happening with our board now I think about it.

Cesc would be a good replacement for Rosicky. Rosicky is getting on, and we need someone with his attacking flair to replace him when he hopefully retires at Arsenal (not sold). Rosicky has been a great servant to Arsenal, and the last season or two he has really come back to light and played some beilliant football. We need someone who can replace him and Fabregas I believe is a slightly better player and will be the perfect replacement.

This smells like a very dirty rat. but i would love it if Fab came back. as mentioned by several other users here, Fab-Wilshere-Cazorla would be a very good midfield. it would take alot for barce to sell fab, but he isnt getting any younger and he might start feeling he needs to be playing constantly to win a place in the spanish first 11.

if we got Fabregas, Jovetic and a DMF in the mould of Vieira, we really would have a quality team.

i don’t see how having Cesc back will help us when we’re in dire need of a DMF & a “fox-in-the-box” CF. We’re suitably covered in CMF and AMF positions. Bringing him back will cost a fortune and delay junior players progression in to the senior team. Let him wait his turn at Barca

    Cesc would be fabulous, but….
Remy wants to stay in London, so… how about him in Arsenal set up? Think he is decent and could flourish at Emirates. Could be a Wenger buy (8m) but if he is interested better move fast as QPR confirmed so players and agents will be very active now.
Still say get Fellaini, Howedes, Janmaat/Corchia, Adler and possibly Jovetic (if price right) or even Remy. Excluding Jovetic, would cost us in region of 45m and would have a seriously stronger squad. Don’t forget, we should off load probably Sagna, Chamakh, (seems Betis want deal), Arshavin, Squillaci so we can also raises some revenue from those few sales and free up wages, so we could get all of the above targets.

Holding no expectations to avoid any disappointment this summer, regardless of how tangible the various stories seem to be.

As much as any fan, I’d do more than scream to the top of my lungs If Cesc came back, he’s become one of my inspirations irrespective of his acts at Barcelona, I see the Cesc that I knew during his time at Arsenal: gave almost everything for the club, If only I was perceptive enough to see his love for the club.

But as I’ve said, anything can happen, while the prospect of a Cesc-Jack-Santi midfield trio is there, there’s also the prospect of being disappointed: what if his not the same player as he was before leaving should he come back?Barca have been using Cesc like Wenger has been using Ramsey in the past; just a player they can twist and turn without any acknowledgement of the player’s preferences. What if Wenger/Board doesn’t want to cough up £30 million as usual? (Cesc is top top quality so I wouldn’t see what excuse Wenger could pick out of the hat)

Let’s be open-minded people and not lose perspective, I want Cesc to come back to a better home (at the moment)but anything is possible!

About the ‘future’ and ‘past’, sometimes – you have to look back at the past and see what you’ve lost to be able to move forward.

Cesc is an example of that, something has been missing since he left, that special option, and it needs to be rekindled; even with Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla, they’ve been great but haven’t been enough to rekindle that special option. In other words, Cesc will bring that option back.

Since Cesc has left this team has lacked creativity to be a consistent offensive threat. When healthy, Cesc led the league in scoring chances created. Many games this season and last Arsenal have not had a sniff of scoring a goal. Adding Cesc to the middle of the pack brings a world class player we are in dire need of and gives us depth as it pushes everyone down on the depth chart.

Followed by Cesc I’d look to purchase Fellani as our DM. He has the size that will help our aerial game. And I’d say he has an above average touch in comparison to other midfielders as he shown by playing an AMC.

    Fabregas
    Wilshere-Fellani

Now that’s a line-up that can beat a big club.

The next position I’d look to improve is CB. Hummels would be a great addition.

Cesc’s thirsty of thropies is almost complete. He will, if Barca don’t messed up, win La Liga this season. Only CL thropy he doesn’t win yet. However, Cesc has to sacrifice his favourite position as a playmaker. It’s hard to believe that Xavi his still running that “old machine” of tiki taka. Del Bosque I believe, make this “fake number 9″ to Cesc since the long injurie of David Villa. He score some goals in Spain NT and Barca but seems that he wasn’t to happy about it. If he wants to comeback, this is just the right time. However, I’m not sure about that.
