Is it time for Arsenal to buy a new goalkeeper?
Lukasz Fabianski has expressed his wish to leave the Emirates after reassuring himself that Szczęsny is “lucky” to be Wenger’s number one. He has told his agent to find him a new club, where he will have more game time than at the Emirates.
In what would have proved to have been a desirable move for the aforementioned Pole, Almunia has been enjoying his loan spell at West Ham, and has expressed his willingness to stay there on a longer deal. Speaking to The Sun, he said “It’s good to feel the game again… We will see if I extend my loan. At the moment I am happy – it is a great club with nice people and that’s enough for me.” Does that mean that the people at Arsenal are not nice people?
That would leave Szczęsny – some describing his performances as “world-class” – and Vito Mannone, who has spent successful periods on loan at Barnsley and Hull. Young James Shea would also be promoted to the first team if Fabianski and Almunia do leave as expected.
However, would we not need a stronger back-up goalkeeper? Szczęsny isn’t particularly injury-prone but suffered a minor back injury earlier this month. Mannone may have lower league experience – just like Szczęsny did at Brentford – but does he really have the ability to flourish into the sort of player that can become a consistent ‘keeper at the highest level?
As for James Shea, the signs are looking promising. Despite being just a year younger than Szczęsny is now, it does seem that Szczęsny is a special talent and incredibly confident for his age.
Can Wenger afford to stick with the goalkeepers we have or should we reinforce one of the positions that we look strongest in?

I have always tought mannone should of being given a go ahead of Fabianski never made a mistake when in goal and made some fine saves . Szczesny is a class act as he proved against sunderland with that fine save . For the first time we have akeeper who is winning us games not throwing them away . So keep your money arsene and use it for a creative mid and a world class striker .

Just shows how bad fabianski really is. Instead of fighting for his place at arsenal he wants the easy way out by joining another club. We should get rid of him and other players who aren’t committed to our great club…

A bit off topic here, but has anyone wondered about Park? Why isn’t he playing? A lovely thought then entered my mind. Perhaps Arsenal signed him to use in a bid for Hazard. Lille really wanted to sign him.
This would be a stroke of genus if so!

Would be over the moon if we could have another deadwood sale in january. even without fabianski and almunia we would have 5 pro keepers on the books that is well enough.

This is proof that AW had made some bad choices when it came to signing players.
Honestly which decent club would want to buy almunia, diaby, schilacci, koscielny, jenkinson(ok he’s still young), fabianski,
On our best day without injuries arsenal has a very good line-up indeed. But there’s no bench..NO DEPTH !!
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Szczęsny has been doing well for our team and his age is always a bonus, but i believe we should have another world class keeper on stand by as fabianski clearly wants to leave, so we need that back up to win titles and may be our downfall if he gets injured or other variables of that nature and the replacement isnt up to scratch we loose the game but on the other hand Szczęsny can do his job for now and spend money on 3 world class players for defence midfield and attack and i think at the minute the latter is really needed but at the end of the day anything can happen in football!!!

fab has lost it, he better fight for his place because even he do get regular play in lower clubs. he will not be call up. unless he manage to get regular in some top4 club. i doubt he’ll find any and risk to lose his reputation

Fabianski is really not good enough for Arsenal. He is same bad as Almunia. Szczesny is so much better then them especially in mental aspect. We can see a fully confidence face of Szczesny even in the match after he conceded 8 goals.

Goalie, right back, midfielder and striker, that must be target in January. Must go Samba/Cahill, M Villa/ Montelivo/Martin, Hazard. Now Vermaelen has signed maybe he can persuade Hazard to join great Arsenal…….!!

I don’t blame fabianski for wanting to leave, coz there is no way that he can take scezneys place! I to have more faith in manone, before scezney came onto the scene I was begging for manone to get a chance. At the moment we are solid at GK, rather put our time and money into an excellent creative midfielder or a classy striker.
Gunners for lyf

Yes,it is time for Arsenal to buy a new goalkeeper. In fact for Arsenal;Arsenal should sell 2 of its current goalies who are just USELESS and “POTATOES”;those are Vito Mannone and Fabianski during the 2012 January transfer window and remain with only Sczesny, and after doing this;Arsenal should buy just any 2 of the following elegant goalies to replace them[Mannone and Fabianski] during the 2012 January transfer window:
1.Tim Howard-Everton and USA.
2.Shay Given-Aston Villa and Ireland.
3.Maarten Stekelenberg-Netherlands and AS Roma.
4.Fernando Muslera-Uruguay and Galatasaray[Turkey].
5.Rene Adler-Germany and Bayer Leverkusen.
6.Alexander Manninger-Austria and Juventus.
7.Eduardo-Portugal and FC Porto.
8.Tom Wiese-Germany and Werder Bremen.
9.Craig Gordon-Scotland and Sunderland.
10.Paul Robinson-England and Blackburn Rovers.
11.Scott Carson-England and Bursaspor.
12.Michel Vorm-Netherlands and Utrecht.
13.Diego Polo-Argentina and Colon.
14.Hugo Lloris-France and Olympique Lyons.
15.Sebastian Frey-France and Genoa.
16.E.t.c.
And after buying any 2 of the above elegant goalies,it is just simple; Wenger can just be interchanging those 2 goalies plus Szcesny i.e not making one to be in the First 11 alone permanently;instead he makes all to be First 11s in different games e.g if in this game he made Szcesny as a First 11,in the next game he makes the other goalkeeper a First 11,like that like that in all games and there will be no problem in Arsenal’s goalkeeping position!

Fabiansk should be allowed to leave, Vito is a descent back up for our current number 1.

I like Scezney not just because he is a great keeper, but because he is always talking at the back to his defenders and players near by. He gives them a piece of his mind when they do not do what is expected of them. He can see parts of the game other players cannot, and his guidance in this matter is crucial. I am glad we finally found a world class keeper. All we need now is another CD and AM.
