Is Samba going to be this year’s Mark Schwarzer?
Last summer Arsene Wenger made an early bid for the Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, but his manager Mark Hughes stood by his guns and made the Australian international stick to his contract and stay at Craven Cottage, despite the player’s protestations that he was desperate to join Arsenal.
Well this year it is the turn of Blackburn’s Christopher Samba. He has made it clear that he wants to move for the chance to play in the Champions League, and like the Schwarzer affair it has been widely reported that Arsenal have already struck a deal with Blackburn.
But the Blackburn owner Anuradha Desai is convinced that she can keep Samba at Ewood Park, especially since losing his defensive partner Phil Jones to Manchester United.
“We don’t want to let Chris go,” said Desai. “I’m confident that we can keep him and I hope he’ll stay.
“I know he has an ambition to play for Arsenal but I hope we can keep him for another year at least and prove our own ambition.”
Arsenal reportedly made a bid for Samba in January, but Blackburn fought them off and finally persuaded Samba to sign a new improved contract. If he really wanted to join Arsenal why did he put pen to paper?
Wenger had a good chance of signing Schwarzer last year because he was entering the final year of his contract, but how can Arsenal justify chasing a player that has just signed a new one?
Isn’t Wenger always going on about players being obliged to honour their contracts?

Wenger is boring!His words speaks louder than actions.For long time I have been hearing about Samba,Cahill,Gelvinho,Parker,Sakho,Alvares,Hazard,Benzema,Falcao e.t.c but non has been signed.We expected http://www.arsenal.com to be our reliable sources of transfer news,but no any news.
Wenger must emancipate too much bargaining!Time is passing faster and 13/08/2011 is so near,he must make transfer as soon as possible in order to organize new players with older ones in the club

how can anyone say dis as bashin ?hes got a point,they sold jones(cant afford 2 sell all their top defenders) and like admin said if samba really wanted a move why renewed his contract?.as we know cahills 4 sale n we can atleast get him if we meet their valuation(which is some 17mill)……….

Hey Prasanna Veeraraghavan – look at the facts, in the last 5 years how much has been won? That’s why people are turning against wenger. If he had won even a carling cup (wilting in the last minute anybody??) then people would remain behind him.
But everybody inside football and every fan can see that the goalkeeper and defense isn’t good enough and wenger refuses to spend “too much” money to fix it. Look at Utd and chelsea (the benchmarks for winning titles) – every year they bring in new, better players. We do not. We bring in “potential” or youth players. Whilst that works OK to keep you in a league, you won’t win too much in the long run as has been proved in the last HALF A DECADE!!
Wenger presides over this – so he has to take responsibility. And every year he wins nothing and takes no action tarnishes his historical reputation. That is the way of football.

Hush Hush My Fellow Arsenalings!
There is a frenzy over this Wenger business and the transfer window hasn’t officially opened yet. I believe many Arsenal supporters FORGET we have to rid the likes of Denilson, Bendtner, Squillaci, Almunia, Rosicky and Clichy.
How are we to buy new players and add to a currently full squad? The smarter play is to try and sell as many players as we can, build a war chest to add to the funds we already possess and then look at world class quality.
Once Clichy, Bendtner or Denilson go, there will be signings. Expect at least 2-3.
As for Joey Barton, a bargain buy but I really don’t like him to be in an Arsenal shirt. emmanualFrimpong is a better player and deserves a spot. Have you guys seen this guy press and tackle?
Anyway, let’s focus on getting Gervinho and worry about Samba next. Hopefully Clichy can find a new home soon and then we will have a signing.

Arsene wenger is a porn actor, he wil never let go of a bad attitude. A hope he shouldnt be able to sign samba, cahill and costa. So that he will be stock with the likes of denilison, chamakh, bendthner, diaby, squillaci. Almunia and the rest of the bad guys. So that we will end up no the fourth position.

Do you’ll even know anything abt football – i know the transfer window hasn’t open but that doesn’t stop players from putting pen to paper ! They get transferred to the club when it officially opens i.e 1st July and how many players has wenger signed – 1. Jon Toral,16 & 2. Hector Bellirin,16 & 3. Carl Jenkinson,19 ! Joey Barton at The Arsenal……..Oh my dizzy aunt. This guy is a thug with no moral compass, whatsoever. He beats up any poor teenage drunk if they upset him on a night out.He has a history of thuggery but………I am sick to the back teeth to watching our beloved Arsenal crack in the second half of the season. the reason he signed a new deal is because wenger fxcks about and doesnt conclude deals. do u know how many players get excited and think they’re signing for us, they fight their clubs, hand in transfer reuests then wenger backs out of the deal over a measly 2mil extra. emir spahic, last year (would have won the carling cup or prem if we bought him instead of squilacci), schwarzer to name a few. wenger is a tosser. if this happens in the summer then he should be sacked especially if he goes out to buy a cheap panic buy alternative and not cahill.

wenger has his ways when it comes to transfers , i will start with d french league is there any1 that doesnt know he was initially chasing hatem ben arfa b4 he now bought samir nasri both in marseille ? its also a well known fact he has been on eden hazards trail for 2yrs running , who r we eventually buying ? All the fans have hyped up an average inexperienced defender and the price has increased. The Samaba deal will not go through now because it is hard to justify even 10mill for a back up player at that age that has;
not won anything
no experience out side the league
no Champions league experience
hardly any international experience
Is clearly not a ready made solution – he’s too slow
Djouro in my book is more experienced then Samaba is and I think in one more season he will be a more dynamic player than Samba and Djouro inst even that good.

(raghav) i agree with you samba is a average defender! BUT we need his strength and power in the air we got T.V. for class at the back but samba will offer muscle and leadership witch we need more than anything. also wenger will have 2 change his ways and defend deeper witch is a good thing and maybe we can hold on to leads!! but first we gotta get him and i personaly think wenger is looking 4 a cheap way out and with clihy on his way out we may see gibbs as a starter at left back and that will be taking a step back!!!
