Is There Too Much Pressure On Wilshere?
It’s great to see Jack Wilshere being praised by the England manager Fabio Capello and it will be interesting to see how the side play against England with Wilshere being employed in a key position in front of the back four. Although this is only a friendly game it will be Wilshere’s first full start for the team and he will work hard to repay Capello’s faith in him.
But I hope that not too much pressure is put on Wilshere, he is after all only 19. You could argue that Wayne Rooney’s disappointing efforts in the England shirt are in part due to the huge pressure put on him at an early age.
And it’s not just the psychological pressure that can be harmful for such as young player. The physical demands need to be kept in check as well. Wilshere is playing many more first team matches than he is used to and his coaches and managers need to be careful that he does not burn out.
Wenger was upset about the fact that Theo Walcott was included in both the under-21 and senior England team and the same could happen to Wilshere. The Arsenal manager would prefer the young player to feature for just one or the other to avoid excessive physical strain.
Capello said that this issue will be discussed with Arsenal but said: “He’ll be with us in June against Switzerland. That is sure. But Jack plays with confidence, never with fear. That’s incredible for someone so young. If you play so young with a team like Arsenal, who are second in the table – they’re not a team trying just to stay in the Premier League – then that’s a big thing. But the most important thing is the other players clearly have confidence in him. He’s ready to start”
Nicklas Bendtner warned Capello to be careful not to make the same mistakes with Wilshere as England made with Theo Walcott, but it seems Fabio Capello is intending to play him every chance he gets.
Is Wilshere made of sterner stuff than Walcott?

yes!! he has been given too many responsibilities within a short period of time ..I hope he lives up to the expectations for both Arsenal and england..
he is highly talented and naturally gifted player and i don’t want anyone tagging him as an over rated player…
Too many matches played by him, first up england and he has to play against wolves since lack of holding midfield players right now and then Barcelona.
he is such a crucial part of the team that an Arsenal team without him feels void…

it seems a srtrange comment to say from capello. surely you let your new/young players start playing b4 you start talking about them running the team. imagine wenger or fergusson bringing in a 19 year old to arsenal or united and saying all the team is built round him? would never happen. when fab came through the team was henry, veira, etc now with wilshire for arsenal the main players are fab, nasri, RVP players who are regulars and are used to playing at this level. i hope wiltshire does well but if he chokes a large reason will be capello (and having to play with weak sauce lampard!)

yes i think wilshere ,could end up going backwards if he starts playing regulary for england, mainly because england managers are scared to try something different, if terry venables was manager wilshere may benefit playing for england , but with managers like capello who only idea is to defend, then it could be to a backward step for wilshere, just like it was for rooney and walcot, and other promiseing young lions who had too much put on thier shoulders at a young age.
