It’s understandable why Wenger would want Chamakh to start today
Arsène Wenger has been mulling over the idea of resting Van Persie for today’s visit from Stoke, the player having been the only ever-present member of the Arsenal squad this season along with Szczęsny.
Despite having an on-form, proven striker in Park, it is Chamakh that seems to be the most likely to replace the aforementioned Dutchman. After a week full of rumours linking the Moroccan international away from the club, Wenger might want him to start just to prove why he is not selling him in January.
With just two goals in his last 31 appearances, Chamakh looks horrendously out of form and has only been a bit-part player for the past couple of seasons. However, with the Potters game looking like a battle of height at both ends, could this be the ideal opportunity for the Moroccan to prove his worth?
Arsenal average two corners more per game than Stoke but haven’t scored from such a set-piece since February (against Stoke). The trio of Chamakh, Mertesacker and Djourou in the box combined with delightful balls in from Van Persie in particular could make for a far sterner defensive test for Stoke than they are used to in these sorts of situations.
Gooners would, of course, much prefer to have an on-form striker that can offer at least half of what Van Persie is providing us. Nevertheless, Chamakh has a huge point to prove and if the service to him is good enough, his form could take a turn for the better.

If we start Chamakh, I think it will be make or break for him. There will be a lot of pressure on his shoulders, as he knows he needs to take this opportunity. Lets hope Theo/Gerv can provide for him, and hope he gets a goal early to settle his nerves. It will do him the world of good. Although make sure you’ve still got RVP on the bench, just in case
Top Gooner!. Agree or not?:

Chamakh is very good. Just don’t forget what he did when RVP was injured. In few games he will get his confidence back and he will be scoring goals. Then we can rest RVP and use Chamakh and Park. RVP can rest and play for champions leagues. We should go back for 4 4 2 again i think.

I’m sure A.W knows the best 11 to start against stoke but, it would be nice to see the Ox, Ryo & Park play as the 3 attacking options & try to play against the (rugby) style of football stoke adopt especially against Arsenal, this could be the perfect introduction to the ever changing face of Afc.
Having the arial presence of Mert, Djourou & kos is enough, we should try to keep the ball on the floor & play round stoke.
Szczesny
Djourou Mert kos santos
Song frimpong
Arteta
Ox Park Ryo

Chamakh played very well for Arsenal when he played regularly during his first months at the club. In about 3 months in 2010, he scored around 10 goals for us. He ended up as a sub when van Persie became fit.
Chamakh or Park – or Walcott as central striker when van Persie is not starting? Maybe van Persie in DB10 role and Walcott in TH14 role…
The big question for me is why hasn’t Park featured more… His goal scoring record this autumn / on international duty / has been very impressive.
I’m a bit apprehensive for today’s game. Stoke is always up for the challenge and they excel in what we often fail at.
It’ll be interesting to see both the starting line up as well as the bench. What will be the role of Benayoun, Park, Oxlade-Chamberlain, etc.

CHAMAKH IS RUBBISH… the first half v Stoke is proving that. 2 great chances to score and he fluffed both badly.
Hopefully RVP comes on for him soon.

Chamakh is no replacement for RVP and we need to look to future, who are our strikers aftyer RVP and who will take over in midfield? We need Montelivo, M Villa , Samba at back as he is also a striker in set pieces…. Cum on Gooners……….!! Love u Arsenal… Gooner C Town

Chamakh are to soft a guy ..he never impose himself physically…he should be more agressive when playing with or without ball. At this moments onlY RVP is the only reliable striker we have whether or not Wenger want to admit it.
