Ivan Gazidis Says Arsenal Can Compete Without Champions League Money – Yeah Dream On Mate!
Arsenal are in danger of not qualifying for next seasons Champions League if you listen to all the mumbo jumbo in the press. We have 31 games to play for goodness sake. But today chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has said we do not need to be in the Champions League to compete!
Speaking at the Leaders in Football Conference at Stamford Bridge Gazidis said, “We would rather qualify for the Champions League, but we have a really stable model that can cope [if they don't qualify]. And we could not only cope, we could do well and compete. It would be very foolish to build a business model that relied on being in the Champions League for perpetuity. I don’t think any clubs do that, and if they do then they probably aren’t being run as responsibly as they should be.”
I know that the FIFA fair play rules are being brought in, but is the man deluded to think we don’t need the money? We are not competing now for…sorry I won’t swear.
When asked about whether contract talks with Robin Van Persie were under way he refused to comment, but he did say, “We don’t have a salary ceiling. I don’t know where that story comes from. We have a very sophisticated business model that looks at what we need to do to compete today, next year and five years from now. I am comfortable we will be able to be competitive in whatever [economic] environment is going to be created.”
I think that Mr Gazidis is leaving himself wide open for a barrage of criticism with his latest remarks don’t you?. Everybody knows that we need to spend to compete it’s obvious. I’m going for a lie down the man makes me angry.

This guy is a f*ckin idiot. I guess our very sophisticated business model includes 5 panic signings that don’t put arsenal on the same level as the top teams. And yes no teams business model should rely on champions league money but every team’s (including the board) ambition should be to win the champions league. It sounds like gazids is already tryin to give out excuses to the fans to make it alright that arsenal are declining. F*Ck that. I still have faith in the the players on the pitch but losing it in arsene and it’s lost in the board. The players we love WILL leave if you don’t bring in talent, drop unneeded costs (I.e. He has lost his head. I have a feeling RVP will leave the club. We all should stop going to watch the matches buying T Shirts etc once their income stops they will realize.
All their income is from the fans who love their CLUB but if the club does not want to hear the shouts of the fans for what we are lacking than what is the point. After all they are pocketing the money and the fans are having sleepless nights thinking about their beloved club something wrong.
Since Park has come I don’t understand why they are not playing him and he is on the bench we need to see him on the pitch too.

There we have it folks, from the horses mouth. Basically he is saying AFC has no real ambition anymore. It’s makes me so mad and upset what is happening at our beloved Arsenal.
We need to take action now and get these assholes out of our club. Those of you who are able to attend games, please for the future of our club, take banners showing our distaste of what is going on. We need the board and the rest of the world to see how our club is being run into the ground. Do that for a few games, then refrain from buying tickets, merch basically anything to do with the club. It is the only way these bloodsuckers will feel any sting.
Never in my life did I think Arsenal could stoop to such a low level. It is royal f*ckup and needs to be dealt with harshly and quickly.

Can you see now who is the villain of this story? Wegner has never been the problem. You just don’t stop being a succesful manager all of sudden. These greedy bastards doesn’t care about the football at all. This has happened with my local club, once praised as the best club in the world in the early 50′ when Alfredo DiStefano was our biggest star and we beated Real Madrid easily, even when we were a team from the third world. i think gazidis has said enough now to really unite the entire fan-base against this spiritual destruction of arsenal fFOOTBALL club. Its not a proper football club anymore its a business with a policy of profit at all costs. Its sick…its not worth following a team in such depressing decline. Van persie would leave tomorrow if he could and i dont blame him. We only panic bought 5 players as we made 60mill on nasri and cesc…and we still had a tidy profit on our deals like we have over the past 3 or 4 seasons.
I hate the management at our club….the players seem to be despondant and dont have the fight anymore.
We will finish below mid-table…even if we buy well in january..the spirit has gone..strangled slowly by the cold remote businessmen that have no real passion. Supporting arsenal now is like being a soldier going into battle with a coward general that would sacrifice your life to keep his safe.

You guys are taking his comments in the wrong vein. He’s saying that IF Arsenal fail in finishing in a champions league position. Then Arsenal would have enough money to compete with clubs who are, that is to say we would be able to afford the prices and wages of that of a team who is in the champions league. Arsenal doesn’t rely on the finances generated by champions league football to be a top club. Though one thing it doesn’t take into consideration is that the players who are PLAYING the football, don’t want to play for a club who isn’t competing in the champions league.
I’m an Arsenal fan, and I can say I’m really not happy with how things are going so far this season. However I’m not going to believe that what Gazidis is saying is that We don’t need to be playing champions league football any more…think it over lads, the whole point of forming a football club is to play in the champions league. Having said I’m not happy with how things at Arsenal this season have been going, however there are some positives. 1 the spectacular rise of Sczcesny, 2 RVP isn’t injured and is rightfully our captain (should have been even when cesc was at the club) 3. Alexander Song’s form has been fantastic. Through the doom and gloom we still have quality, we just need to stick by the club right now.

On a brighter note chamberlin just scored a hatrick for england 21s . Good man yourself keep it up . Arsenal will definatley sign 2 players in january , i really do believe this is the best thing that could of happened to arsenal if fab and nas had of stayed they wouldn of signed anyone at all last summer , this is a team that is being completley rebuilt . Gazidis didn’t just come out and start talking about CL football, he was asked the question in an interview about what a major impact it would be on arsenal fc if we didn’t play in the CL next year. Gazidis was pointing out that we could survive without it, which is true. He also did say we will be playing CL football next season and the board and management will do everything possible to make that happen.
