Jack Wilshere: My life is at Arsenal, but I want to win trophies
Arsenal’s young midfield Terrier Jack Wilshere was (like the rest of the team) devastated when they lost the Carling Cup Final to Birmingham last season, but he is hopeful that Arsene Wenger can bring in the needed ‘tough’ players to take that extra step.
“It would mean everything to win a trophy,” Wilshere said. “Last season we just missed out – that last minute against Birmingham ruined everything in a way.
“We are always there or thereabouts at the end of the season, but we need to stay strong and maybe make a few more signings and we will be all right.
“We have been saying in the last few seasons that we need a bit more toughness, but the boss knows what he is doing. Hopefully he will bring what we need in and we will win something at the end of the year.
“I am happy at Arsenal at the minute. There is no reason for me to think otherwise. I have been here since I was nine – that’s 10 years. In those 10 years, I have been really happy.
“I have had a few problems in the past but Arsenal have always looked after me.
“We have spoken about it and helped me get over it. Now I am really focused on helping the club win trophies now.
“I am still young. I like to enjoy my life. But my life is at Arsenal, football is my life and that is the most important thing. But I want to win trophies.”
Wilshere was withdrawn from the England U21 side that failed miserably at the European Championships, and although he was desperate to play, he is happy that he is now thoroughly rested for the difficult start to the new season.
“Before the tournament, we spoke about how important it was to get my rest and now I feel really rested, I will be ready for the start of the season,” .
“I went away on a few holidays and put my feet up on a beach and relaxed. I feel refreshed now.
“Of course there was a part of me that wanted to be playing. When you are watching the games you want to play, but you have to see the bigger picture. The bigger picture for me was to rest and be ready for the start of the season.
“We have never done a tour like this before. It has usually been Austria and quite quiet. But they have welcomed us and been great.
“We trained last night and we trained this morning, so we are working hard.
“The most important thing is to be ready for the start of the season, because we have got a Champions League qualifier and a hard Premier League start.
“We must train and be ready.”
If Arsenal are to win trophies this coming season, you can be sure that Jack will be a big part of it. He already has the needed ‘toughness’, now we just need it in the rest of the team!

I am really getting sick of our players going on about the need to win trophies. Probably, the players are expecting the supporters and their wives to take to the field and win matches for them. The only thing they need to do is to shut their gobs and get on with the job of working hard on the pitch, since that is the surest way to success. After all they are paid mega-bucks to perform week in week out, so if they fail in their work, they should give us, the supporters a break.
My candid advice for them, they should talk less and let their feet do the talking on the pitch.

Thanx Jack, better explain the importance of more signings to your boss. As fans we have done our part it is you players to keep pressure on him other wise you/ we will dream of trophies until you/we die in sleep or quit Arsenal.

I wont be suprsied to see Jack asking for a transfer in a couple of years. We need a quality GK to stop leaking the goals. Shay Given sure fits the bill and we MUST sign a new and strong CB. We’ll doing alright in other departments like mid and att. But we beef up our def. You can’t win anything if you keep leaking in goals.

Thanks Jack, but I pity you. You will be a great player but seems that some of your teamates let you down and your boss refuse to replace them (oh he tried but he failed? Why not he try harder? Why so stingy?). I can’t see him replacing them unless he speed up in his signing process and be more daring when concluding deal. For those who are optimistic that Wenger will sign someone good on the last minute, ya you can continue your dream, I had been disappointed way too many times.
Jack, my suggestion to you is start talking to your boss, brain wash him if you can that having players like Almunia, Squilacci, Gibbs, Traore, Eboue, Bendtner, Rosicky, Diably, Denilson and playing them on the pitch won’t win the club anything. If you want to win you have to have players with the same class with Casilas, Buffon, Cech, Stekenlenburg, Nueur, Vidic, David Luiz, Puyol, Ashley Cole, Evra, David Villa, Suarez, Cavani, Higuin, Drogba, Lampard, Sneijder, Kheidera, Ozil, Xavi, Iniesta. I am sorry, I don’t mean sound rude but these players that we have aren’t the same class with those who are winning something (anything) at the moment. Their performance had prove that.
Can we hope that everyday we can get a Henry from Juventus that no one knows about his potential except us? For the past few season, had we discovered another Henry? The answer is NO. Look at Diably, Bishoff, Bendtner or the bunch young boys that we dare to sign but don’t dare to risk on them and rather play those deadwood on the pitch, where is the next Henry? So, don’t hope that everyday is Sunday.
Lastly, knowing that the team can’t win and still try to repeat the lie of we can win something and we were close to winning something, isn’t that a crime?

Why has no one mentioned the fact that we have signed Gervinho!?! It seems that everyone is only interested in pointing out what’s wrong with the club!
