Jack Wilshere Out For Five Months Now!

Posted on September 26, 2011 by admin

First it was a few weeks, then it was Christmas, now tonight we hear that Jack Wilshere could be out for up to five months following ankle surgery. Next it will be all season.

Wilshere had surgery today to repair his ankle, which turned out to be a stress fracture. A statement on the clubs website read, “Jack Wilshere has this morning undergone ankle surgery at a central London hospital. Under the care of two world-renowned surgeons, Jack has had the stress fracture of his right ankle repaired. The initial indications are that the surgery has been successful and Jack will now undergo a prolonged period of rehabilitation. It is envisaged that Jack’s rehabilitation will take a period of four to five months.”

Wilshere said this afternoon, “I’ve had my operation this morning and all went well. My ankle is little bit sore, but I’m already looking forward to working hard to get fit and playing again. I would also just like to say thanks for the many messages of support I have received from you – the fantastic Arsenal supporters. See you all soon at the Emirates.”

I am no doctor, but the injury situation is fast becoming a farce at Arsenal. The question everybody will want answering now is, How can a stress fracture not have been picked up before now?

After actually talking to a doctor, I found out that stress fractures can heal at varying rates. At first, Wilshere’s bone had a ‘red zone’ which meant it was suffering after too much stress. At this point we stopped playing him and let him rest (hoping for a speedy recovery). However the damage was already done and it developed into a small stress fracture.

We then put him in a boot and protected the fracture completely hoping that it would heal itself but the bone did not respond. It was then decided that the safest and most effective long term solution was to bite the bullet and have minor surgery; this keeps Wilshere out for much longer but is the most likely way to solve the problem.

P.S The medical team actually did nothing wrong. The only thing they got wrong was judging how long he would take to recover. We get annoyed when Wilshere was supposed to be out for a week, then two weeks, then six weeks, then Christmas and then 5 months. But the only actual effect of this misjudgement is raising the players/fans hopes and then killing it. It does not actually effect the healing of the bone or the quality of the players treatment.

the only thing you got right is that you are no doctor.
Neither am I but I can safely say that Jack will be back when he is fit again, and not before.

  5. theblocher says:

At some point of this season, the midfield players won’t be capable of playing CL, FA, BPL and Carling Cup. We will be very short on the midfield later on this season, and we will have to rely on players from the reserves.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Song and Frimpong will both play at the African Nations Cup… It dosn’t look good.

  8. Gooner fresh says:

If jack is gone all season or the majority of, our midfield is not looking too well off. Skinner’s right about if arteta and ramsey get injuered we’re in the woods. Mikel, Ramsey, yossi, song, diaby, frim, and coquelin will have to play to their potential. I believe in them and wish jack a quality recovery which doesn’t necessarily mean quick

Firstly song wont play at the anc cos cameroon failed to qualify.

hows this for an idea whenever a player is injured lets just rule him out for the season. then if he comes back early we can all say what a fantaztic medical team we have!!

Sucks to hear Wilshere is out for longer than we all thought!!! Hopefully Ramsey, Song, Arteta, Benny, Walcott, Gervinio, Frimpong and Diaby (when he returns) can cope with all four comps until Jan transfer window. If all the january transfers “rumours” are true then the midfield will be over crowded in the second half of the league – which is good!

Otherwise we need Song, Ramsey and Arteta fit all year as they are the first choice midfield right now!

  12. John O'C says:

How is Ramsey rated Arsenal standard?? WTF The last time AFC won a trophy he wouldn’t make the carling cup team…… If i may say its an example of how our standards have fallen (badly)

  14. richie says:

Now Wenger has the same old excuse ready to be squeezed! At the end of January he will say that he didn’t sign anybody because wilshere coming back in februry/march (supposely!!) and vermaelen are like new signings to our weakened team.

I really hope he is conscious and therefore sign the players he didn’t last transfer window.

  16. Asif says:

Our medical team is a bunch of assholes –

    A few examples –

    1) Abou Diaby remains fit for 30% of Arsenal playing time- rest he is on medical board.. wtf does our medicos do? They could declare him unfit, made of flimsy bones & muscles & hasten the departure …

    2) In 2008/2009- Bendtner was 80% time unavailable bcos of mysterious injury which the medics couldn’t guess…

    3) Nasri, Fabregas, Rosicksy -all have been in 7 out for innumerable days from 2008-2010

    4) The classic case for Thomas Vermealan last year – joker AW & his band of idiots predicted one month which lasted more than one year- and after 4 more games, it seems that he would last another 6 months on the injury list ( although it’s the other leg this time )

    5) And need we forget one more – Theo Walcott & RVP- ALWAYS PRONE TO INJURY – end up missing >50% of te matches in the medical room

If you analyse with a clear mind – u would relaise why our medical team is the worst in the PL…

@asif u 4get how we had 4 keepers got injured ALTOGETHER n we had 2 bring back the “mighty” but “crazy Jens” (although he was better than almuni), it was pretty f#cked how ALL 4 of our keepers (, szczensy, fabianski, mannone, almunia) were out, n how about the random djorou & koscielny injuries which led 2 arsenal playing squidworth, RVP N FABREGAS played less than 20 games the only players who weren’t injured Half the f#cking time were wilshere, chamakh(depressed mutha#ucker), arshavin(talented but the laziest mutha*ucker i’ve ever seen in my life)

either wengers training methods involve hitting players with shovels, or (the most probable truth) the medical team sit on the benches with their fingers up the as*es n although u r a bit harsh sometimes i agree with u on supporting ARSENAL F.C. n Not ARSENEal B.C. n i consider u a true gooner but i woulld advise that u be a bit more critical 2 the board (the real perpetrators of arsenal’s decline) rather then arsene (trying the best he can with the resources made available 2 him)

    GUNNER TILL I DIE
