Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to sign for Ipswich today
The Arsenal youngster Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (commonly known as JET) was thought to be one of Arsene Wenger’s most promising youngsters just a couple of years ago, but amid rumours of attitude and disciplinary problems he only ever made one single appearance in the Premiership for the Gunners first team, and that was for only nine minutes against Chelsea!
He was given a chance to impress on loan to Cardiff last season, but played just nine times, scoring twice, and his famous promise failed to deliver when it came to the crunch.
Arsenal agreed a transfer fee of just £1m with both Burnley and Ipswich, but JET declined the chance to move to Lancashire and yesterday agreed personal terms with the Tractor Boys instead.
The Arsenal youth site Young Guns reports that JET only has to pass a medical today before he will be officially unveiled as an Ipswich player. Although JET’s value was only agreed as £1m, in recognition of his unlimited potential, this has been offset with a large percentage of any sell-on fee going back to Arsenal.

Ipswich are a good club and hopefully he can take over from Connor Wickham.
I think it’s a good move for him, but maybe it would have been better if it had been a loan instead. I think he deserved one more year to prove himself.
Best of luck to him anyway. Hopefully he’ll go on to fulfill his massive potential. Sometimes these knock-backs can serve as a wakeup-call to players like JET.

I cant believe we sold Emmanuel-Thomas. He is next Hulk! I think he deserve more chance than Bendtner and Vela, they had a lot oportunities to prove himself!

@scott those r the signings we should make but the people u have mentioned r the BASIS of our team selling them would b foolish but those additions would DEFINITELY win us silverware P.S with rvp n defoe- defoe had a really bad season + rvp is just as injury prone CR9 hence he hasn’t played that much i don’t think his ever got 30 games a season e.g 25apps this season n 22goals after a major injury too so isn’t that almost messi quality my fellow gunner and defoe isn’t exactly consistent n not mention every1 knows that no spur is good enough to play 4 arsenal but rubbish gunners can play 4 spurs e.g. Gallas

Defoe’s scored 101 n 308 prem matches, rvp scored 66 in 156, but wait, darren bent scored 91 in 207. So, goals per match- bent’s best, then rvp, defoe’s worst. So, isn’t it better tat we get darren bent instead. N bent is younger than defoe. Go eat shit dude

I always said he was rubbish. People throw “JET” around in their team roster when backing up transfer argument, but if you actually watch him he’s rubbish. He has a lot to learn, but will never be great.
He will return to the premier league in a year or two, with a newly promoted Championship team. Maybe someone like Bolton at best.

What’s the point of the academy? Thomas has been with us since 1998 for god sake and what good has it done us? One first team appearance. As usual we plough years of money, staff and coaching effort even get them into england Unders, so they can leave and play for someone else and even score against us. Really, why do we bother. Most if the first team people associated with the Academy actually were brought in nearly ready and were only in it for a year or two. The romantic idea that we find diamond in the rough players at 15 and invest in them for the big payoff just doesn’t happen. We should stop pretending it’s anything more than a nice community youth program and reassign staff accordingly to things like how we can prevent Woolcot injuring his ankle–again.

JET could have been a great player for arsenal. he played brilliantly for youth team. It was not a wise decision to sell him permanently. AW should loan him out!
