Keefy: Nasri and Fabregas have good reason to snub Arsenal
It’s been coming by KeefyWK
Speaking as a 45 yr old lifetime fan of the Arsenal, this situation has been creeping upon us for a while now.
Whilst Arsene has refused to add quality players each season to the squad it was just a matter of time before players desired to be elsewhere.
Players such as Fabregas have waited year after year for top players to be added to our squad. We all knew last year that Cesc would be at best leaving this summer and who can blame him?
Nasri, who is coming in for serious stick, has in my opinion played it right. He has given Mr Wenger time to show his intentions and to show whether the stubbornness in him will relent and he will change his ways.
The next week will decide whether Nasri stays or goes. Moneywise £120k and decent image rights would keep him on a 3 yr deal but we would need to add at least 3 big names to make it happen.
Cahill sounds promising from all reports. Samba keeps coming up. Gervinho looks a done deal and Chamberlain is 75% imo. Unfortunately time is about to run out.
The vultures are circling and all of a sudden clubs are looking at us like a sinking ship.
The buck stops with Wenger. Shape up or move on I’m afraid.
Every pre season we wait in anticipation of new signings and it never happens. In a couple of weeks time we will either be thanking Nasri in forcing Wengers hand or be seriously looking at finishing (dare I say it) outside the top 4!!
As every summer, I live in hope!!!

The gervinho transfer sums up pretty much the rest of the summer, wenger is buying more small, mediocre, unproven french ligue 1 players. This summer will go down like the past six summers, i’m starting to think wenger is doing to us what he did with monaco

Why should they require other signings to win things? To me that’s all lame excuses. The players themselves have shown gross lack of commitment. One day they play like they can beat anybody only to become lame ducks the very next day.
Truth is all these guys think of is money and Arsenal cannot afford loads of it.
Mark my words, they will all end up like others before them who left ‘to win things’.

we need PROPER quality signings, not wengers bargain lightweight french league unknowns.A leopard never changes its spots..dont expect anything wonderful from the tight-wads transfer dealings.Good article, if wenger doesnt pull his finger out the club will spiral downwards….its all down to wenger stepping up to the plate and being BIG and BOLD.

I’m not quite sure why you put this all on Wenger as well, I realize he is responsible to sign players, but you don’t think the board of Arsenal cannot come in, and not request, but demand a player to be signed by any fee. I mean in the end Arsene Wenger works for Arsenal football club does he not? To put the sole blame on him I would say is unfair.

Agree with article. The players themselves know better than anyone the squad is not good enough or big enough to sustain a realistic challenge, the team should have been strengthened and the deadwood culled continuously.
All our best players and former greats say the same = buy(and of course sell), that we have failed to do so over the past several seasons had lead us to our current predicament.

I fear for the worst. Losing Nasri and Fabregas, not being able to find a good replacement, signing just Gervinho and some other 17 year old nobody has heard of, and missing out on Alvarez Cahill and any other name we ‘re assosiated with. I just hope (as always) that Mr. Wenger knows a bit more about football transfers than any fan. I hope he does the best he can for Arsenal and for us the fans. The worst thing that could happen to Arsenal is for players like Wilshere losing faith, and I’d be absolutely devastated to see that happen. I try to be an optimist and just wait and see. Don’t lose faith fellow Gooners!!

Wenger is an “Emotionally Barren Unrepentant Idiot” who has kept the entire Arsenal Fans on suspense for over six yrs. The only Arsene Wenger I can trust is the Dead One.

Footballers have relatively short careers and you can’t blame them to want to be part of a winning club. We have not provided that as a club for years.
Players don’t like to take the blame. Their egos won’t allow it. Their agents wont too.
Players like Nasri and Cesc aren’t good enough to win leagues almost single handedly like Maradona did do for Napoli. So they look elsewhere. Football is totally mercenary now. The rotting decline at Arsenal is reaching an ugly head. The negativity at the club is being fed upon by the press who are circling around the emirates like vultures around a wounded animal.
We will start to lose the best players as it appears we don’t have the ambition to sign the best players. We don’t close deals fast anymore. They seem to drag and drag.
Nasri said the players all get huge salaries but he wants trophies. If he goes to a Manchester club he is more likely to achieve it.
Put yourselves in Clichy,Nasri or Cesc’s shoes. Would you want to stay? Nasri can double his wages and have more chance of a trophy?
Let’s stop blaming the players, they want success and money. Arsenal isn’t the only club on offer.
Wenger doesn’t sign superstars, he tends to make them, so don’t expect the best to come and as a result, the best we have don’t want to stay.
There will always be players that want to come to Arsenal but for now it’s not for the right reasons. Even Gervinho said it would be a good place for his development. That statement means to me that it’s to put himself into the window for a Madrid or Milan to snap him up later.
So it’s either, lower your expectations as to where we are with this club or change the manager as we won’t sign big until we have a manager who has a history of managing big name players. Not players that owe him for making them stars.

Good article stating the truth without frills. Myself,( not that I matter), give Wenger one last chance to modify his thinking and give the Arsenal faithful a team to be proud of. As I myself have said, “time is running out” and personally I can`t see him getting a team tuned up in time to be any kind of threat this season. Today (Monday) is crunch time for Nasri/Wenger, Fabregas is as good as gone so now we have to get serious.

What Arsenal loving site would title an articlelike this? It is one thing to follow the others through the rumour mill and even invent the dd story. But to imply that our players have a reason to leave without a cogent explanation is crass. I ho tha you are proud of yourself.

6 years without trophies, without player investments to win trophies, next to zero ambition and no light at the end of the tunnel. That’s the reason for unrest among the players and the fans. Top players want medals and if not medals, then money. Arsenal offers neither.

Do any of you know anything about Gervinho ? None of you have a clue about the transfer market. I expect you all would’ve said about Ozil “why are Real Madrid bidding for some unknown German player” and he had more assists than anyone in Europe last year. You also would’ve said “why doesn’t our manager buy Andy Cole instead of this bloody French bloke called Thierry Henry”. Once a player is known to you armchair fans who barely watch any league other than the EPL he is already being touted for double the price that he’s actually worth. Look at Jordan Henderson FFS, that kid is a nobody who was bought for 20m. For your information Gervinho had more goals and the same number of assists as the top choice for many of you which is Eden Hazard while playing in the same team and in less games. Lille are as good as 90% of the teams in the EPL. Liverpool and Man City got nowhere in the Europa League and yet English fans seem to think that our worst teams are better than the best teams in France, Germany and Italy. I’ve got news for you, you’re deluded if you believe that and your view has been warped by the performances of Arsenal, United and Chelsea in the CL over the last few years.

Wenger is right and wrong. Wenger always talks about stability of a club. To him stability is 90% financial. WHICH is wrong. Stability is not limited to finances and right now his club is UNSTABLE, He must understand he is not only running a business but a football club. Success is measured in terms of trophies as well not profit alone. The board are sitting pretty and relishing Wengers vision, but i Think the fans are virtually fed up of Wengers flaw of not spending what he calls OVER THE ODDS. Sometimes Wenger just has to shut up and Pay the 5mil more or so! If we had Eto to play alongside Nasri and Fabregas would these two want to go? If we had Felip Melo as back up for Song will Nasri want to go ?

Back to topic though, man up Cesc and Samir. Take responsibility for not being good enough instead of blaming anyone but yourself. Arsenal would’ve won a trophy if Nasri hadn’t hidden away when the going got tough, FACT ! He’s a bottler.

As for Cesc by his standards he was terrible this year. How dare you suggest that these players are bigger then the team Keefy. Samir was nothing when Arsene signed him, he had a few good games and now he thinks he’s world class well it’s time he wised up. As for Cesc i’ve never seen a less loyal captain, it’s embarassing.

@ Charlie
Amen! Thank you for pointing out fans that have little understanding about other leagues besides the EPL. I’ve been stressing this to my friends and other supporters. Gervinho is a great buy and I think will be one of the best signings this year in any English team. He is well developed, rounded, versatile, strong and quick. He might even be our Drogba that haunts other teams like Arsenal.
There are too many so-called experts in here who jump at the first article they read and believe that it’s true. I try to read as many different transfer updates as I can to gather useful information and then make an assessment. The great sites to look at are betting sites in Europe. I’m a firm believer in “money talks, bullshit walks”. If we identify Nasri and Fabregas, we have very low odds that they’ll be leaving so chances are they will. Then again we never know if something major will happen.
I’m hoping we can bring in more than enough talent to create depth in the team and compete with Europe’s elite. Lots of people are dissing Ahmedov, Christian Eriksen, Scott Dann etc about joining. Frankly, I believe we need to rebuild and there is always high risk in getting the right players to fit the team. Who is to say none of the no names we buy will succeed? No one knew about Nasri when Arsene first got him. People just thought he was another cheap average signing. He’s come a long way and I believe it’s great to see him highly ambitious and putting Wenger under the pump to bring in world class.
I believe Arsenal fans have been spoilt with beautiful football Wenger has bestowed on the club for the last 15 years. We need to be grateful and commend the guy rather than stab him in the back in times of turmoil and difficulty.
Being a true Arsenal fan, I always believe! Do you?

People point out about how good a signing Gervinho will be, but WHERE is the transfer? Pre-season starts today. Will he get enough time to gel into a new team? Or we’re happy with a mediocre start to the season and lose a few points? WHAT is the guarantee that he would even sign? Haven’t we learned from previous seasons? Almost always, the signings happen on the last minute (if it all they happen) and we need to apply the EPL for an extension and ratify the signing. This is getting beyond ridiculous now!

100% AGREE WITH YOU KEEFY!
Even many of the fans have been indecisive about renewing their season tickets, given Wenger’s mediocre attempt at strengthening the team and blaming everyone else for his failures including the media, the refs, the opposition and even the grass on the turf! Why would the players be any different? Well, Nasri is no Maradona to win the league on his own. But it is heart-wrenching for us fans when our GKs or defence commit yet another horrendous error; imagine how difficult it would be for Cesc / Nasri / RvP who actually do the running for 90 mins!

Well not everybody plays for money and trophies
if you get trophies i see not point asking for a rise
Nasri Wants lots of money like Adebayor
if he didnt want money he should respect arsenal and join Inter Milan or Bayern Munich who will guarantee trophies
but instead he wants to go to Man City
Man City can only win an FA Cup cause their players are more into the Money then the game itself
they were lucky to come 3rd cause of our slump and chelsea’s bad run at the end
Man City have smaller ambitions than ours(Wenger Excluded)
Mancini cannot Manage without Loads of Cash

@charlie
I would have said u made sense if you’d stuck to just saying gervinho might be a good buy (i think so too, if only he wasn’t supposed to be the ‘big’ solution). But u spoilt the whole point by making statements like mourinho bought an unknown ozil who’s now ruling the world, or wenger bought an unknown thierry henry… WTF! How could anyone and his dog not know ozil after the world cup? Wasn’t he bought after the world cup in southafrica? Who destroyed d english defence with trickery &assists? Even before the world cup which football loving fan did not know ozil from his exploits @the european u-21′s &his bremen performances, wasn’t every gunner calling on wenger to get ozil during &after the world cup, infact many blogs were saying we were in d race to sign him? I guess Some people will say anything to support wenger.
2seasons b4 wenger bought henry who was the best young player @d france ’98 world cup? Scoring 3beautiful goals from the wings? U think 1season out of the spotlight @juventus would make everyone forget what a great player he was &what an outstanding worldcup he had?
Grow up.

arsenals defense was pathetic last season. When the pressure was on we caved in like a marshmallow. Look at thegoals conceded and at what periods of the game. 2-0 at stoke, RVP scored to give us hope. Stoke responded in less than a minute, proving the point that when teams exert a bit more pressure we crumble. 4-4 newcastle!!!!!!!!!! enough said!!!.
Where’s this leading you may wonder?….quite simply wenger should have reassured fans AND PLAYERS of his immediate attention to bolstering that defense. His attitude still seems to be one of improving and modifying on his “perceived” good squad. Money also is his priority.
Most fans would agree that by now wenger should have secured at least one top class central defender and in my opinion another one as well. His dithering sends out all the wrong messages….players are restless and are sceptical about wenger’s attitude .I don’t blame the best players we have in edging closer to the exit door…….its an obvious situation surely!

i think that at least i would be happy if only we get trid of the crap inside this team.
Get rid of denilson, almunia, squillaci, diaby, rosicky, eboue and bendtner. We simply would be better off by not having them. If we are to get replacements, then great. But if we hadn’t got this players last season, we would have won at least two trophies.

Despite fans’ unrest, the manager seems so relaxed. We look to have been swayed by the sadist media reports linking our players elsewhere, even when the reports are senseless.Much as there has not been serious transfer activity thus far, i strongly believe that Mr Wenger will really pull it off with significant signings. Since 1999, our players have always been linked with moves away from the club, only for them to stay put. I believe this will be the case even this time. I just can’t see Wenger selling Cesc & Nasri this summer as that would spell disaster-and Wenger knows it, that’s why I believe he will do all he can to keep the duo. After all, Barca are just comedians, not buyers worthy of the name. Worthy buyers cannot come up with 27/34m pounds thinking they can land a player of Cesc’s quality. Cahill, Gervinho, Samba, Alvarez, Chamberlain, Barton & Enrique will make Arsenal real contenders for the championship. “Wenger knows” should remain our slogan, now that he has been given more money than before, let’s just be patient, things will surely happen

Look at the promises of the last six years and you will see why Wenger shuld not trusted. Wenger will surely destroy the club before Kroenke knows it. A manager who cannot keep his team together… The man will not do anything serious in the transfer market.

Perfect player Mark Noble in the arsenal would be playing much, and still is the fact that West Ham have fallen to the second division, is an amoeba Gervinho against Algeria lost two goals in the face of a pig named Chaouchi, Cahill and Samba the best shot at the Gunners back four has only good Vermaelen, Alex Chamberlain Oxlade hiring another good but I think better go slow with him, my friends that you do not see the Arsenal players have the base that can be better than Gervinho, the more certain would miaychi ryo, and Nasri is a strawman, but Fabregas is a fighter, a side that no Clichy arsenal fans will forget, let’s Gunners
