Keown – Tottenham will finish above Arsenal this season with Gareth Bale in the team
The Arsenal legend Martin Keown saw a Gareth Bale double give Tottenham yet another win on Tuesday, while Arsenal could only manage a draw against lowly Wolves, and he is sorry to admit that he believes that Harry Redknapp’s team is far superior to the Gunners this season.
“While Spurs kept two players, Arsenal lost two.” Keown said. “That has made a significant difference to the teams. Bale is not an international globetrotter, which helps. He seems happy to play for Harry, when he could be in the Barcelona team now. One day he will be. Arsenal and Chelsea will be very happy when that day arrives. Bale plays like he has two engines. An incredible sight.”
“With Bale, as much as it pains me to say it, they will finish No 1 in London. Parker has been significant, too, but I still don’t think Spurs will go higher than this current position.”
If Spurs win their game in hand (against Everton) they will be a massive eight points ahead of Arsenal. Is that really too much of a gap for Arsene Wenger to close?

Commencing the 11th of January Tottenham face a difficult stretch of 2 months with all the top teams being played – mostly away except Newcastle. It will be interesting to see where they stand at the end of March. If they are still in the Champions League reckoning then it’s hard to say they dont deserve it. But a few injuries to key players and they could be in free fall and find themselves kicked off the park by Stoke on Mar 17th and an away match against Chelsea on the 24th.

Stupid Arsenal fans who commented above…arrogantly optimistic and ignorant… What Keown said is true. Whether it pains or not accept what’s true. Spurs are currently better than Arsenal and will finish above Arsenal. There’s nothing granted for Arsenal as such that they’ll always finish above Spurs. Thanks robz. That is what realism is all about! It is not stupid or baseless optimism. If we continue to play this way Spurs will finish above us, period. Is it a birthright that even when we don’t play well and they are fantastic we will always be above them? For now, whether we like it or not Spurs are the best team in London.

Robz, talk to me in may and apologize for your ignorance then. The most important part of a team is defense and at full strength, Arsenal’s D out classes and has far superior skill than Gallas, Walker and co. Tottenham have been lucky to be healthy thus far this season and I don’t see their defense holding up for the remainder of the season (although I’ll give it to them, they don’t have to worry about their players getting hurt in european competition.)I can’t wait to play spurs at the Emirates. Keep the faith Gunners supporters, Our boys can handle their business.

that is correct. they will definitely go for the title. the forth place will be contested by Chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool. but this is just football, I hate Manchester united. they should be knocked out of number two. come on wenger!

lets focus on our team itself and leave spurs and united to their mercy…. will keep fingers crossed for a great finish to this year’s campaign unlike last one which was nothing less than comical… with addition of few more names next summer… carry on the momentum to start very well next year.. hope AFC learns from its mistake and plans a very comprehensive Pre season next year on… when AC milan is on cards and very exciting Europe matches in prospect i don’t give a damn to how many goals bale is scoring or what Mr. keown has to say….:)

THE TRUTH IS PAINFUL,BUT HAS TO BE ACCEPTED. THE CURRENT TOTENHAM TEAM IS BETTER THAN US AND WILL FINISH ABOVE US. Actually the bad result this week may be a blessing as AW and board can react.
Keown’s forecast will become true if AW doesnt strengthen the squad with 2 players in January. We need an extra full back and we need a creative midfielder

Sorry to say this but Spurs look way more dangerous and direct going forward. They don’t fanny about in the goal area like Arsenal do. Arsenal need one or two more killer players in their squad. My new years wish is Samba in defense, Gotze MF, and Podolski CF. Kroenke is going on about how he will back up financially – so ffs Kroenke get more involved and start pulling your weight around the place. Tell the board to get their asses into gear and buy these much needed players. If money aint the issue then what is????

Arsenal is in need of one final ingredient, that creative midfielder. Ramsey, Arteta, Song are not a strong midfielder as Modrice, Parker, Vanvarrt. I rate wallcott on par with bale because these players are one trick ponies – pace more pace and nothing but pace.
If we do replace cesc then we’ll be back on top. .

Gooner fans, lets be realistic. At the moment the spuds are taking their opportunities while the Gunners continue to disappoint. Arsenal too seem to slow their game when they are on the final third giving the opponents defensive time to reorganize (unlike the days of the invicibles when arsenal attacks were direct and ferocious). For Arsenal to overtake spurs, they have to learn to take advantage and close up teams when they are leading.

who have hotspurs played away? they are yet to go to old traff, stamford, arnfield, emirates, etihad. the only difficult place they have gone to is britania and they lost. they will finish a distant 5th. I mean, hotspurs that cannot get through group stages in europa. at one point people like keown believed Arsenal will finish number 8 because liverpool and newcastle were also better than Arsenal.can the likes of keown give people a break. we agree he was vital for Arsenal although clumsy that with current refs all against us he would have spent most of his career on red cards, it seems predictions is part of him as he uses his heart more.

Some of you need to reel in your expectations a bit. Be realistic. We can’t even beat The likes of Fulham and Wolves and don’t forget we lost to Blackburn too. Spuds I hate to admit are beating everyone and will definitely finish way above us. They have a far better squad, even when our injured players come back. And some you also show major lack of respect to one of our all time greats who should be on our coaching staff. No one will join in January except Henry (wonder what number he will have?) to replace Girvinho. Will be nice to see Park and Ox get some run outs but don’t expect too much.

Keown is out of his senses!He doesn’t even know that matches at home and away r different…Arsenal have been to Old Trafford,Millonaire,Fallen bridge and even,em Dead blood Lane,whereas spuds only visited the self coveted Stoke and the rest of the Big Four they play away(Liverfools,Man europa,Billionaire Europa n Millonaire Chelsea)…Even they should understand Newcastle is a Hell of a match whether home or away…Just need three wenger signings or possibly two(Leighton Baines,Poldoski n Mario Gotze)..Arsenal will finish third Chelsea fourth Mancity 1st n Utd 2nd,Spurs 5th n Liverpool 6th..After they were the ones who said Ars had turned to a mid-tabled mediocre team.Hala Gunnerz

Key factors are 1. Who comes and goes in January 2. The impact wilshere and Henry have when playing. 3. If we stop playing Ramsey behind van persie instead of ( arshavin, gervinho or Walcott) then we have potential to look like a strong side again, but if we keep playing 4-3-3 threw thick and thin well god save us

Spurs have a better 1st team then us! whats more their bench is better and they are playing with belief and are very strong.
There is every reason to believe they will finish above us, lets just focus on getting 4th spot, which i think is between us and the chavs… and we will have to improve massively to beat them to 4th
This is going to be the toughest few months in our recent history because we are competing against teams who keep their best players and strengthen when we lose our best players and under spend.

My prediction for the league positions at the end of the season is.
1) Man City
2) Man Utd
3) Spurs
4) Arsenal( or at least i hope so)
5) Chelsea
6) Liverpool
Though I would hate to see Spurs place above us. It is a real threat. If they continue playing as they are I wouldnt be surprised if they did.

when people like sagna and wiltshire come back then we will see who will finish above who altho we do need players, losing those two has been a huge effect last year both of those players played almost every game last season and that why unfortunetly they have been out and every season we have to contended with injuries more that n other teams that why wenger needs to spend we are 2 to 3 players and 4 to 5 players (that need to go) from i believe winnnig this league come on gunners

What happened to loyal Arsenal fans? The last time Spuds were on top of Arsenal was 1979-1980 season. So regarding the EPL competition, they have never finished above us. I’m not going to even start thinking that they will. Spuds will slowly die off like a roach that’s had a dose of bug spray

I could remember the last time we visited spuds, they were begging for the match to end. they wounded Sagna(‘will never forgive them for that) and merely defeated us 2-1. i hope we can win the EPL if we can keep our team healthy.

Asernal has the chances of finishing above Supurs if they can buy a good striker, a good defender . Otherwise rivals may not get any point at emirates stadium and are likely to loose to the big boys more than Asernal

We will finish above spurs if we buy 3 or 4 quality players in jan transfer window e.g. huntelaar,shaqiri,taiwo & vertonghen/samba and get rid off dead wood- almunia,squilacci,djourou,diaby,arshavin,chamakh. We should play 4-4-1-1 with RVP in the bergkamp role with huntelaar in front of him. Spuds will sink like they always do. remember the 2006/07 season. All they needed to do was beat west ham to qualify for champs league ahead of arsenal but they crumbled and we beat wigan and went thru.
