Kieran Gibbs injured again – Misses U21 tournament
The Arsenal youngster Kieran Gibbs has suffered yet another injury just as it looked like he was finally getting back to form and fitness.
Gibbs was thought to be a great prospect and had broken into the Arsenal first team squad two years ago. He was set for an extended run in the first team when Gael Clichy got injured, but just a couple of weeks later he himself broke his foot and was ruled out for the season.
Since then he has suffered setback after setback but returned to training in January and played a few games for the Gunners. Now the 21 year-old had a big chance to impress everyone again at the European U21 Championshps, but fate has dealt him yet another cruel blow.
He suffered an ankle injury in the England warm-up game against Norway, and the England U21 manager Stuart Pearce confirmed that Gibbs will now miss the whole tournament. He said: “We have to deal with setbacks every now and again but we are fortunate to have a squad and a staff with previous tournament experience.
“It’s unfortunate for Kieran but he went for a scan yesterday and is in a medical boot.”
After the previous withdrawal of Jack Wilshere it now means that Henri Lansbury is the only Arsenal player left in Pearce’s squad.

Prediction:
Gibbs has become a crock, like rvp, rosicky and diaby. Clichy is gonna leave. Wenger will not sign anyone, saying “we have botelho and eboue”, and we will finish in the europa league next season.
You know as well as me that this one will likely come true, even though i hope we sign baines/izaguirre/jose enrique/vertonghen

Exactly why we cannot rely on gibbs as left back if clichy leaves. Surely even he would see that. We must either sign 2 more centre halves and convert vermaelen to left back or buy 1 centre half and a left back if clichy leaves. I think it is time to forget gibbs as a left back and let him fight it out with whoever for a place further forward. He is proving to be weak in the tackle and his defensive positioning is not great either. I hope we sign 2 of vertonghen diakhate and sakho. For purpose big centre half hummed subotic sagna or cahill and jagielka as a replacement for Eboue. Let Bartley push his claims too and move Djourou to dm.

you are forgetting about this guy who was on loan at juventus he is Armand Traore he is a great player although a little injury prone has loads of pace and great cross. Not better than Bains though. i thing he is going 2 be overpriced and might not fit in at arsenal.

YAAAAAAAWN!!!! Gibbs injured? I so hope to Christ we sell him – or failing that, just release him. He can play, he’s pretty fearless too, but he’s not up to the job if he can’t remain fit. Only top clubs can afford the luxury of having eternally injured players. I fear Gibbs will be off-loaded from club to club, each one growing tired of his injuries and his drain on resources. Most will already be put off by his injury proneness.
As he gets older he’ll gain weight and those injuries will become worse. He needs to train hard regularly to make his body stronger and he obviously hasn’t bothered. The lack of effort there shows me he is NOT one for Arsenal.

Talented player, feel sorry for him being such a croc. Time to let him go permanently and move on. Another one from the youth ranks who did not work out. Shame as he seemed better than Gael.

Hate to say it but Cashley was the best left back we ever had. We need another one like that…
