King Henry set to help out Arsenal in January?
It is being reported that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a loan move for New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry, who is currently training at the club, in the upcoming January transfer window.
According to The Times, the Frenchman will try and sign the Arsenal legend on a one month loan deal as backup for Robin van Persie until strikers Marouane Chamakh and Yao Gervinho return from the African Cup of Nations. The report suggests that the 62-year-old has an emergency loan deal in mind, similar to the deal he struck with Jens Lehmann last season when the club was going through a goalkeeping crisis.
However, the Red Bulls’ GM has previously rubbished these rumours by saying: “This always comes up when when we have an off season.
“We have no plans of loaning any players anywhere. Thierry’s working out at Arsenal to stay fit. We’re happy but he’s doing so, but he’s coming back.” (keep in mind however that these comments were made last week.)
Although Wenger himself has denied these rumours, he has not ruled out a move. He said: “At the moment, Thierry Henry just practices with us. I cannot tell you even if there is a chance (of a deal) because I haven’t been concrete on the case.”
The Frenchman is not known to be very active during the January window and prefers to do most of his business in the summer. So in my opinion, this deal is more likely to happen than not.
What do you think? Should Wenger splash the cash on a new striker or should he temporarily sign King Henry?

We need a permanent change to our ArsenaL team..thierry henry is just a temporary change..that can’t be a solution to our present attacking problem..AW should buy some players this Jan..or else our season is BOOM for this time too..

He is the king. And will always be. But he is not that good as he was a few years ago so I hope Wenger rather sign a class striker like Podolski. But offcourse it would be great to have Henry back.

Hmm, I think it would be better if we sign a striker not to keen on podolski though, for some reason i don’t think he’d fit in..

In the past, Wenger would never resign a player. This seems to be his hobby now – at least since Lehmann and Campbell. Recently, there were talks of Toure coming back as well. Henry was a great player but I’ll be terribly disappointed if this move happened. And I’m sure that’s what Wenger is planning to do..

Thierry was a great player but bringing him back is just Mr Wengers way of not spending money on a new striker which is what we need. But you all know Mr Wenger hates to spend money.
This is just another step back. We are going into a dog fight
for 4 place this season. So I say to Mr Wenger please forget about Thierry and buy a Quality Striker and a left back.

Definitely get him in over January, keep the relationship to a legend as open as possible, should make him the assistant manager as soon as he retires from playing in America and get him ready to be the predecessor to Wenger. I worry about life after AW, there should be a bronze statue of him outside the Emirates.

I love Henry and I’d love to have him back at the club in whatever role helps the club. That said, signing TH14 on a month long loan deal is the equivalent of using a bandaid when you need about 10 stitches. Sign TH on loan and please buy a proper #2 striker to help support RVP!

i think we need a new striker, one for years to come personally id like to see podolski come in as hes a good finisher, pacey and a top draw player that can play on the left “arshavin bye bye” and CF “van persie cover” so please mr wenger let henry continue to train and thats all and sign lukas… and possibly a left back and centre back and lets push on this year!

sign some young enthusiastic striker(marco reus is one of those names fans think is good,i dont know) and get michael salgado from blackburn for the remaining season like how we got sol campbell(that wud be an ideal cover-up imo ).

I’d prefer if Thierry or Bergkamp came in as coaches for the strikers.
We need way too many chances to score and two guys who know how to stay composed and get the ball in the net are exactly what we need to teach the players we have what to do in the final third.
We also need a defensive coach (we have done for a few seasons).
By the way i’m watching the Bolton game against blackburn and yet again I don’t see why Cahill is so highly rated? Average player at best.

At the moment what we need is a striker dat can push attack just like robin van persie and henry is just the perfect guy… even though henry isn’t in his best form but i think wenger can still polish him, so let him come back… Up gunnerz!

we should go a quality striker, take henry on loan aswell so it gives a rest to rvp.also we need jack back i have not been massivly impressd with ramsey even though he is good quality he just try to be over skillful and loses the ball too often, also if we can get samba or cahill on the cheep it would be good idea,we can play verminater on left per and samba or cahill in centre sagna rite bak koncielny cover for all positions santos L bak or L mid.get rid ov arshavin waste ov space.
also walcot runs at people wen against smaller teams and not the big boys,is that confidence??should we be playing ox instead ov him so he can buckle up???

You should not be worried about a potential Henry signing. Personally I don’t see it happening. 1 month is pointless. Henry wont be able to set the place on fire anymore.
We should be more worried about Wayne Bridge on loan????
If we get these players, i.e. Fringe, discarded cast offs to band aid our season when there are the Cahills and Sambas of this world out there it says alot for our ambitions.
Preparing to always be the Bridesmaid…..

TH14 would be a great confidence boost but what happens after the loan is over, I’ not sure I want Chamakh back from the ACN
Lucas Barrios is available on the cheap at a Wenger price $12M from Dortmund, Great shot and good in the air for me he is a better option than Podolski

loan Henry, and look for a permanent at the same time
if we dont get the permanent, henry will still be here,
and even if we have the permanent, henry will help us for one month before returning to US

If Henry reaches the standard of fitness, mobility etc that Wenger sets in training then he could possibly use him. What he showed in the US League suggests he is no longer up to it. Stop dreaming

Wel if it works out it wld only b an addition 2 d squad but i wldnt xpect much 4rm him. AW shld b mor concern about strenghtenin hs squad wit permanent buys. We stil need a creativ mid fielder. Ramsey is not at al reliabl n a gud striker 2 help VP. A gud bk up defender in cases of injury. If AW does not do anytn ds jan then he wld as wel thrown away our titl hop ds season

We are seriously in need of a commanding striker.not just for one deal,we can’t depend on Chamakh as a back up.Even right now is as good as Chamakh is at the Nations cup. Please,Mr. Wenger we need a striker (Podolski).

Bring back Thierry – if he’s already training with the squad it’s a win win situation. Obviously we need to look to bring in a permanent signing (priority) but if its possible to get Henry for a month that sounds like a no brainer to me. Don’t see how any of you could disagree really?!?

Why loan him? Either bring him back permanently or look for a long-term replacement for the likes of Park (when he has to go on National Military service in 2 years – nothing to say he will actually return) & Chamakh.
Where are the likes of Chuks Aneke, Benik Afobe & Sanchez Watt? I’m also curious as to progress of Carlos Vela, Wellington Silva & Joel Campbell.

@Slash345
I think its one thing training with the side (which could be deemed more disruptive than anything) that has been on a good run of form, it’s another making yourself a permanent fixture there.
I would love to see King Thierry back in an Arsenal shirt, however at this time it isn’t realistic for him to come back.
Take a look at other options already circulating the club and then go on to improve if need be.

@ northbankhighbury
I take your point that it’s probably unrealistic for him to come back – and I definitely agree it would be preferable to get a permanent quality signing in.
That said if it were to happen would be amazing to see Thierry back in an Arsenal shirt! I bet he’d grab a few goals and I still reckon he would be better than Chamakh has been recently – although obviously we wouldn’t be as good as he used to be (bearing in mind he was one of the best players in the world for a few years)… I say if its possible, get him on loan.

@northbankhighbury it shal be okay with you. That is my expectation instead of people keep clamouring to see henry, poldoski, rues in arsenal shirt. Why do we give the like of benik, watt, anike, vela and even try and get work permit for the like of willington, campbell. It is our responsibility to give them the playing time the deserve. Aswell we can try walcot in that centre role and give chamberlin the priveledge to singout himself as we did to wishere.

- For a month long loan, Henry would be a great fit for us. AW just bought Ryo, Ox, and JY Park this summer and they’ve barely played at all so I doubt we’ll buy a striker, even though it would be nice to have a new one. It’s a long shot for sure, but Gotze seems like one of the few players we’d still inquire about because he’s interested in Arsenal and I would love to see Gotze playing with RVP. That I can see happening because Arshavin looks like he’s on his way to another club. Same case with the defense- we’ve bought a lot of players this summer and I can see a player coming in on loan.

What Wenger’s been saying in the press suggests we will sign him.
For 6 weeks, it can’t be bad. Not long enough to tarnish his reputation.
Someone so experienced and a complete legend could help our team. He’s done everything, he could teach the youngsters a thing or two, and be a great presence on the field.
He would also perform better than Chamakh or Gervinho have been.
Garuentee he would score and assist RVP.
Can’t see how it would be a bad move, although of course we need a 2nd striker permanently, this Henry loan could be brilliant for our squad.
Wenger knows what he’s doing, I’ll trust his decision.
