Koln to punish Podolski over contract outburst
Just yesterday I was talking about the prospect of bringing the Poland-born German international, Lukas Podolski, to the Emirates after he slammed the Cologne management for not keeping their promises to strengthen the team and he yet again indicated that he wanted to find a new more ambitious club in the summer.
However, Cologne have announced that they intend to punish Podolski over the outburst as breaking the terms of his contract, and are still determined to try and extend the midfielder’s contract. Here’s what they had to say: “We have decided as a club not to tolerate this kind of interview but rather to sanction them,”
“We will certainly make use of the freedoms we have in his contract of employment to clear things up and make it clear to everybody that even Lukas Podolski must respect the rules”
.
“It is not the first time that such a situation has arisen. We have got to make it clear what rights and duties the players have and that Lukas must respect them – they apply to every player.”
“Our position and our priority to extend his contract as soon as possible remains unaltered,”
It is interesting that they are willing to go through hell to try and keep a player who adamantly no longer wants to be there. Arsenal supporters will not be too pleased to hear this news but I am indifferent about it.
I am still confident that the German will still force a move out of Cologne simply because the world has so much more to offer such a talented prospect. He is going to miss out Champions league football, trophies and ultimately a successful career at the top if he sticks with the lower German club. He has probably worked that out for himself now. Even if Cologne get their act together, it would take at least 4 years for them to progress into Champion league places where Podolski will be pushing 30.

Hope this does happen but I would rather Matias Suarez as he would not act angrily at being back-up for RVP that is if he stays.

Adebayor is a traitor,re-signing him is out of the question.I am not sure what I think about the podolski issue.I don’t believe he will push for an exit at arsenal if (God forbid) we still don’t win any trophies as he will be at least 30years old with top clubs going for younger talent.sign podolski,montolivo,albiol,remy and we are good to go

In the interview it clearly states that he wants to join a club with ambition, right where does that leave us ??? Take it he will not be joining us afterall…

L Podosk wl definately come. Advantage is hz better than Gevinho on th leftwing and can cover RVP, that teks th ox on th right wing and TW on bench wea he belongs. If we get Goetze then trofz wl flow

yeah FC Köln is only a mid-table / relegation battling team, Podolski sure had made the wrong decision joining them from Bayern. Go Arsenal WIN THE FA CUP!!
