Laporta – Fabregas is only worth £30m!
The Barcelona president Joan Laporta says that his club won’t pay more than £30m for the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, despite the Gunners valuation for the player being quoted at least twice that figure.
Because Fabregas has publicly stated that he wants to join the Spanish giants, Laporta believes that Arsenal will have to give in to whatever price that Barcelona offer, and their valuation of the “market price” is the £30m they have already offered. Laporta thinks that anything above that is “unrealistic”.
He said: “We will not sign any players for above market value. We are interested in signing Cesc and Arsenal know that, but we will not pay an exorbitant price for any player.
“When it comes to market prices, we’ll strengthen where we can but will not pay an unrealistic price.”
It seems to me that negotiations over the price for Fabregas are going to go right down to the wire as we all know that Wenger will try and squeeze the last centime out of Barcelona rather than let Fabregas go cheaply. In fact Wenger has probably told Fabregas that if Barcelona are not willing to pay £50m, then they can’t want him that much……..

WTF!!! Tapping upthe player so much that he himself is now delusional, and they can’t pay what we feel is compensation??!! Are they mad>???? Fabregas should go talk to them about what he is worth. IF ARSENAL TAKES LESS THAN £60M Then they are not serious and we the fans should protest to the highest order about how we feel the club is being ran. Do u get the sense that Barcelona know they don’t really need Fab, and its just their way of trying their best to weaken Arsenal somewhat…they really know that they don’t want to buy Fab cuz they really don’t need him yet. Maybe next couple of seasons, they will need him, but for now, they know they don’t…but they’re hoping that they could pull a fast one on Arsenal by getting him below the real market value..

He should also state that negotiations failed at Barcelona’s end and he will not forget that Barcelona under valued him so greatly. Think about it. 19 goals 19 assists in a league thats got way better defense. So then hes got another 10 years of that or better. By the time he is Xavi’s age he will have double the goals and assists compared to Xavi’s career. I think 80m is exactly the price Arsenal should be asking. If Barca won’t come up to 60m then they have failed Fabregas, not the other way around.

Cesc is offended by the comments of PHW that it would be hard finding room for him in barca’s midfield, but their valuation of him clearly reflects that.. Sure they want Cesc if he’s a bargin(but so would every other club in Europe)but Barca dont NEED him otherwise they would pay his MARKET value (as in the price paid for similar players or reflecting the scarcity of players with his talent, his age, his resale value and the price other clubs would pay to secure him)

I agree with all that’s been said but in addition when comparing to Villa nobody has mentioned that Valencia are a club in financial turmoil, 450m in debt. Arsenal have no reason to settle for anything less than market value which, for Cesc, would clearly be in excess of 50m quid. Wenger has sold great players but never for a knock down price unless they were seriously unhappy, this is where Wengers’ Economics degree comes in. For the first time in the last month i don’t think he will be sold.

Can you believe these people. They unsettle the player then tell us they will only pay x for the player although he is worth at least double that (based on fees for players such as Ronaldo, Benzema, Villa etc.
Mr Laporta should be told that if he only has 30mil to spend he may like to have a look at our other models that may be for sale from our basic range or f off.
Alternatively for 30mil he can have cesc providing Toure and Marquez/Puyol come to us.

Fabregas is under contract at Arsenal.
We likely value him at around 60Million.
Why should we sell him for less?
Wenger has stated that the World Cup inflates prices, so he will likely not wish to sell Fab before the WCup.
