NO NEED TO REPLACE AW by Manish Dave

I’m an optimist but this season again, as last 5 seasons is out of reach… so ‘Lets start building for the next season’!!!

No need to replace AW! We just need 3 – 4 Experienced (I will be emphasizing this term too much) top-players. Board need to discuss the matter with AW that “…look just one transfer window will be enough to change the fortunes of AFC, like liverpool did, then from the next year you can again apply your philosophies to this club”.

Bringing in ‘Top players’ in your team doesn’t necessarily means that the young players do not develop. Just go ahead and buy some players who are experienced and have a proven track record. A goalie, 2 BIG CBs and an exceptional finisher would do. And get rid of players for whom fans, board and dressing room feels negative about.

Its not a shame if we lose Fabregas to Barca, like it was never a shame for LFC to lose Torres. But there is no point if we replace Fabregas by Jack, and buy more teenagers who cannot play in EPL for next 2 – 3 years. Rather we should target those players who can directly make a way in starting eleven. Fabregas is the face of AFC, and no offense for Jack, but he’s just 19 and we need players who can be motivators to the young squad we have.

Problem with AFC currently is lack of experienced leaders. So instead of changing our manager, having glorious track record, we(fans, board and players) should make him realize that whatever he has done to make our youth system is right but to win any trophies you need inspirational and experienced players in our team. I have read so many suggestions for new signings Hazard, Neymar, Ganso, Yann, and so many other young and upcoming talent. But wait a second ask yourselves, DO WE NEED ANY MORE YOUNG PLAYERS?

No we do not! We need Experience (okay, I am using this word the last time). We need players against whom the oppositions would make plans before every kick off. And around those players we need to put up our young players. So according to me, replacing AW is no answer to our trophy drought, rather get Samba or Mertesecker or Cahill in defense; some one like Falcao who always engages at least two oppositional defenders.

And A MUST is a Goalie. I am not saying AW should sacked nor I am supporting his decisions to sell all the pillars of AFC for making money but for once… just once he has to change his policies and unload the cash from our ‘PROFIT MAKING BOARD’

We should bring Mexes, his contract with roma ends in june, so he would be free.. cause cahill is very expensive for us. and with squillaci koscielny vermaelen djourou and mexes that would be enough and miquel could go on loan to get experience…
it seems clichy is gonna leave us, i don’t think it is THAT sad.. Gael was amazing 4 and 3 seasons ago… now he is unable to deliver a decent cross.. so if we sell him we should bring a guy who really has a left foot… (he never plays for france, and now is the 3rd choice of laurent blanc)
then let’s get rid of almunia… he’s a joke and with Szcsesny and fabianski we would have a good number 1 and a decent sub…
sell denilson to bring another midfield, a guy like fellaini would be alright, he’s strong and a little bit nasty, just what a midfield needs.. keep arshavin that would be a mistake to let him go.. and if fabregas doesn’t want to try to lift a trophy, sell him at a very high price and try to bring a player like Sneijder, he’s better than cesc on free kicks, can deliver excellent crosses or passes and he is not that fragile…

As much as i agree with you, can you honestly see Arsene Wenger buying experience, last season when he should have made a bid for Mamadou Sakho, he goes and buy Laurent Koscielny the most error prone defender i have seen wear an Arsenal shirt since Phillipe Senderos! sorry scratch that, i’d gladly have Senderos back over Squilacci who, i have no idea why he was signed by Wenger, his scout must have been hungover from the day before and recommended him after one good game in a friendly for Sevilla, this centre back partnership has cost Arsenal a hell of a lot of points this season, not doubt we miss Vermaelen, but we need real quality to play alongside him.

What Arsene Wenger needs to do is change the formation the team is playing and go back to what Arsenal thrived under, 4-4-2, we need 2 quality wingers and to have RVP and Chamakh play upfront, we need a proper holding midfielder like we had in Petit, and in Vieira, and i believe Alex Song is the man to do that for us, also i think the time is up for Fabregas, him staying quiet during the transfer windows and when no move materialises commits his future to Arsenal. Wenger should have sold him off and bought in Gourcuff, hell he could have had Van Der Vaart for £8mil! instead we sat back and watched Hotspuds out do Arsenal in the signing stakes yet again! There has to come a time in Arsene Wengers tenure that he realises his youth system policy has not quite worked out the way he planned, I have no doubt that within the next 5 years or so, there will be real quality players that have come through the academy, but must we really wait that long for Arsene Wenger to turn around and say I told you so?!

Instead of Wenger sending his scouts out to look at potential youngsters for the future why can’t he change the policy for players that a quality and can do the job for the next 5 years, and take the pressure off some of the youngsters he has signed so that they can develop to a level that the displays they put in week in week out for the reserves and the League Cup can no longer be ignored. When Carlos Vela first came into the squad he was rated as a future talent 3 – 4 years later he has hardly developed after gettin a few games then being dropped, this kind of stop start policy wenger has used on his has been evident that it does not develop players, or their confidence, he used to play with a smile on his face and was playing hell, better than bendtner ever did at his age

As much as I agree about buying a new cb I don’t agree on goal keeping situation we have a quality keeper in shez a little work on distribution will do but he has been a rock. If rather see baines in than falcoua, his track record for assists is next to none and not a bad free kick taker, which would hopefully remove vp from
Duties I like him alot but how many does he actually score from
A free kick?? Cover for song is a must for one if es injured someone to fill that role no problems and just to be able to give him a test once in a while would be nice keep

im pretty sure people venting anger at wenger is coz of recent performances, yestaday our team played the game like it was a pre season freindly or we had already lost the league. the attitude of the team is wrong and as ive said certain players are making wenger look a fool. i do feel for our manager but at the end of the season decent changes are a must, allot of fans would tolerate no success aslong as the players give there all and the clubs progressing forward. at the momment this team seems stuck in the mud and im pretty sure this is the real source of dissapointment sorrounding the gaffer.

AW couldn’t even motivate his players yesterday. they came out in the second half with the same attitude as they had in the first half. For f*cks sake, blackburn were playing with 10 men for at least 15-20 minutes (incl extra time) and yet, there was no passion from the players!

AW’s time is up! He should be sacked for not remedying the weak areas with quality players in the summer! Ironically, his purchase of the second rate french player from the lower division french league cost us a trophy. Even more ironic is that AW paid quite a lot for him too, considering he was not even in the top flight french league!! AW then didn’t add any quality players in the JAN transfer window to help ARSENAL challenge for the 4 trophies!! Instead he lied about Vermaelen! Now, with just the league to focus on, we cant even do that!! This Gaddaffi of Arsenal FC has to go!!

No, Wenger needs to go. He proved yesterday with his ‘inspired’ tactics and substitutions that he has no idea. Replacing Nasri and Walcott directly with Shitmakh and Bendtner, neither of whom has the pace to play on the flanks, and persisting with playing van Persie up front by himself, when it’s obviously murdering his game.

No, Wenger and his dogshit 4-5-1/4-6-0 formation at home have to leave in the Summer for us to have any chance of success in the future.

    @ delusional pro wenger fans

and here’s AW’s football accomplishments that he should add to his CV this season:

    1) Made a new record in the champions league for the team NOT having a SINGLE shot at goal.

    2) Made another record for being 4-0 up to drawing 4-4 against Newcastle.

    3) Bowed out of 3 competitions including losing the carling cup final to a team struggling at the bottom of the premier league.

    4) Still cant seem to beat Man Utd.

    5) Most likely with the way things are going, still can’t deliver a trophy after six years.

and the list can go on and on….

We as FANS contribute the majority of revenues to the club, which partly goes to paying off the debt of the stadium, players wages like denilson, diaby etc and even AW’s wages! We deserve better and he needs to take accountability for NOT strengthening the squad properly!!

wenger should do the honourable thing and gracefully step down and quote ” we are slipping lower and lower and i “DID NOT SEE IT”..
hE HAS BEEN VERY LUCKY..IF EVER A MANAGER WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME IT WAS HE!.
Inheriting the best back line and keeper (as a unit) in europe and having the goal machine ian wright (didnt he break his neck to get a shot in) and dennis bergkamp…oh and the merse…and a few others i cant remember.
His best days were when he bought overmars vieira freddy etc..and with that backline he won trophies. Failing to adequately replace centrebacks (although campbell was a bit lucky for him….he came free…(would he have paid 20 million for him?)) started the downfall. Such an achilles heel for a manager so acclaimed!…..
We the fanbase (generally)havent got wengers academic prowess, but take it from me, extreme academics miss the obvious….(in all fields of occupation) and the obvious has been staring him in front of his face for season upon season. People defend him on the basis that the board wont release money, so why did he waste 13million on 2 centrebacks..one is average and a rash tackler, the other wouldnt be taken for a championship side.Silvestre, cygan stephanovs!!!! i rest my case!

and this article what rubbish , we need a goalkeeper and 2 central defenders and a sharp shooter !! we nothing wrong our defence except that our best defenders djourou and vermaleen are injured and koncielny been very good considering wenger said he would’t start often as he wanted djourou and tv as our main starters, in the summer, oh then thiers our keepers fabinaski been brilliant till his injury, and the our number 2 keeper did well too till injury, name me another club who could lose thier top two keepers and still remain in the top four off the premiership,so the arguement about our defence is rubbish, as for a top striker i do agree with that, but i remenber all arsenal fans going on about chamakh last season saying wenger should pay the 20 million that was wanted for him, as he a world class player,(funny none of you ever mention that now!!)

As for Shitmakh, I, and many others, didn’t want that donkey anywhere near The Emirates.

Finally, it’s BALOTELLI and while he is nothing short of a lunatic lol, his quality on the pitch cannot be doubted. The problem is Wenger had the chance to buy 2 proven big CB’s last summer when it was obvious that that was what we needed. Instead we got Koscielny and Squillaci. In Jan he said he didn’t need new CB’s as he already had top quality in that area. This is not a man who learns from his mistakes, he’s far too proud to ever admit he’s made any. So what we get is a man who repeats his mistakes and here we are again going over the same ground for what seems like forever. So while you may like to keep Wenger and buy 4 or 5 proven players you can forget that happening because he has repeatedly shown that he’s not going to do that. I bet we start with the same 4 CB’s next season as this season.

Also his tactics have become really stale and predictable. We simply don’t have the quality to play like Barcelona and we don’t match them for spirit either. Teams now know how to stop us scoring and Wenger doesen’t seem to have any answers to it. I was at the last 2 home games and it was depressing how few chances we created.
So if you want a hopeless attack and a hapless defense stick with AW but don’t hold your breath waiting for him to bring the right players in the transfer window.

I agree on keeping Wenger, but suggest that we sell all the big headed players like Clichy and Nasri, they don’t have interest to renew their contracts but are not brave enough to tell us straight. Also sell Fabregas as well as all injury prone ones like Rosicky, Diaby the useless, Denilson and Van Persie. Eboue’s contribution far out weighs Sagna’s in my opinion because Sagna’s crosses hardly gets to the big box and in addtion to that, he gets clueless when he reaches the edge of the box with the ball.

Buy 2 or 3 English players iththe necessary desire to fight for the team and decent goal keeper.

That will ease the problem of unnecessary high expectation
on the team, save more money, entice less players and make us a mid-table team that we deserve to be by the standards set by the board and Wenger.

Lets organise a mass boycott and stay away from the last 8 games. The point is that the board and the coach regards themselves as the only stakeholders. That’s why the don’t care at all. Any team without supporters is nothing.

Lets play our part. We love the team and always will. We don’t have any sinister ideas but as supporters we are the engine keeping the team going. We have been patient enough during the past five years when we were building and moved to the new stadium and now we broke even and are in no financial mess. you are nuts!!!

first of all is either Wenger or transfers, he is too old and too stubborn to change. If when they made big profits they did give us free shirts or discounted tickets then i would love the profits, since all they do is keep inflating both prices, i don’t give a f*ck i rather make profit myself by not buying any more gears or collective souvenirs, overall arsenal wont bankrupt not even with 10 year of low profits, so fuck the profits and focus on this business which is about winning titles.

Second, Falcao is sh*t, my father is colombian, and we both know he is a shit eventhough we support the colombian team, fact is no colombian player is at arsenal’s level, the only one is agudelo whis has american nationality. But he is 18, and myachi, vela can do for that matter. I say we go for Sow, Gameiro or Cavani better yet. We should swap Bendtner and Chamack for Sow and Gameiro, or both of them for Cavani, hell of a deal! And very possible whatsoever.

Experience is not quantitative, that’s an stupidity of the labor market, people learn and perform different, for instance Messi is 23, do you think he isn’t experienced enough? or on the contrary look at Squillaci, what can you take from his many years of experience?

Stop the crap from experience and age, just get strong players, with quality skills, and with no record of injuries. And if they are english then that would be perfect.

GK: Stekelemburg, …… I dont know how much do they wnat to spend on a goalie, but we do need a goalie, becuase Schezny is not ready, he needs to develop his muscles and his kicking, he’s got fantastic talent but he is extremely young, so no rush, do it right. AND he will for sure get injured, because he has got a finger fracture and both arms fractures in the past 3 years, so still he needs a year to be fully recovered from this injury scarces… and fabiansky, if we do keep him, has got a very big injury for a goalie, so he will get injured next season for sure, what are we going to do then? resign 42 year old lehman again, martin poom??? And Mannone, well another injured keeper who is very tired of being behind fabiansky and Almunia, if we do get rid of both he might be able to show his talent and then we would judge, but he is also on his recovering process, we need cover, because all of them have medical problems, and will not be available for the entire next season. AND WE CANNOT BE SO DUMB TO NOT LEARN FROM THIS SEASON MESS-UPS.

CB: CahIll, subotic, mexes, samba .. Mertesacker is good but he has injury records and we don’t need any more injuries, if he comes for less than 10 then he is very welcome, but for 10 or more the others are better choices.

CM: Kevin Nolan, the guy is strong, English, good goal ratio and he is full of belief, and has the mentality to win the premier league, the architect of the despicable 4-4. Parker will get injured as well, and at 30 years coming from West ham, i don’t think he will contribute much. But anything is better than nothing, and nothing is better than denilson and diaby.

AM: Hazard, we need that pace, dribbling and passing, the guy has enough confidence to even get a goal on his first Arsenal game. And every year he will get better, so why not get him instead of 30-31 year old guys who every year will get worse until they acknowledge is time to take on a new phase off the pitch.

CF: Cavani, Sow , Gameiro their statistics talk for themselves, so we can expect 20 goals from every one of them at the worst scenario, which is just what we need. I think vela can do, and van persie and walcott but Wenger tacticts are so dumb that is very impossible to get goals, they want to assist the goalkeeper so he can score an own goal, that’s pretty much what wenger wants, never shoot, only assist, never shoot high only low and soft.
Cavani has got a name, he would sell many shirts, and we don’t have any 9 on our squad, so if they like profits,a nd makrketing and sales… well this is top football, you get that from selling shirts and signing better endorsement and sponsorship contracts.

Isaac, release Diaby, Denilson and Almunia on free transfer, keep Eboue cause he is the guy keeping humor in the team, not moaning as well. Keep Andre, replace Clichy with Baines.

Neymar is a super talent and quite potent and excellent ball control and movement around the box, great desire to win. Add Hazard, Stekellenburg not Buffon he is a scraptyard, at least a commanding CB and a good defensive Midfieders, who will play ahead of Song or compete with him. Song appears to be clueless and listless at times for me, his creativity is not even high rate at the moment.

  49. Arsenalium says:

Like everyone, I have my own opinions about what the team needs (a leader, CF, CB). And we can spend all day debating who is right, who is an idiot, who shouldn’t give Wenger so much credit, who should quit whining because they aren’t the manager. There are the facts though, and Wenger has not delivered.

He seems to identify the problems with the squad just fine (by signing defenders, signing a forward and trying to sign keepers) but how he solves them is just poor. Buying Squillaci and Kosc … neither even compare to Toure or Gallas, and Squillaci wouldn’t even edge out Senderos if he were still around. And make no mistake, Chamakh being free had EVERYTHING to do with Wenger wanting him. The youth system is a marvelous achievement, but it’s not like you have to sacrifice that to supplement the squad with some experience and quality, but he still hasn’t!

No club of Arsenal’s quality would tolerate this kind of drought from a manager, forget the circumstances. Wenger should get one more year if he shows some real intent this summer, if not … bring on Pep. Then again, perhaps this is just fine for the board, after all Arsenal is still making TONS of money, and not spending any on players makes a lot of business sense to shareholders…

Yes, Felaini is the guy to give Song a run for his money. His aerial power will be usefull both in attack and defence. This guy has a good fighting spirit and winning mentality, good passing ability and movement.

I think that we definitely need Charlie Adam as Fabrecas is going.

  52. for as long as Wenger maintains his stupid stance and insists on not spending money to truly strengthen the team, Arsenal will stay trophyless. Look at it this way, Fabregas loves Arsenal but he cannot single handedly be the only player that the whole team looks up to before they can put in a good performance. Wilshere, Nasri, RVP are all good players but sooner or later (esp with our injury record) these players will be in and out of the team and then we drop points. Wenger needs to just stop being sturborn and buy some quality and proven players and he should not claim that that will kill the youth. Instaed he should realise that the youth will benefit from playing along proven world class players. We need a leader, we need a manager who can identify a prob and fix it for the good of the team, not a manager who keeps blaming fixtures, football pitches, referees, injuries blah blah. SAF’s team has had poor referee decisions against them, suffered injuries, and played on the same bad pitches like Arsenal but they have stood firm in the face of those challenges and delivered the points and quite honestly he is and will remain a far better manager than Wenger can ever hope to be, Even 10 years after the former retires and Wenger continues in management. SAF is Winner, Wenger is sturborn, has no luck (tho he somehow always believes his team will get some luck, he’s growing insane day by day and is a very very bad loser) He does not learn from his mistakes would be dead from a heart attack by now if it were not for his “I do not give a shit about the fans’s attitude”

word of CAUTION to all those that still hang that banner at the Emirates “In Arsene we trust” Trust me you are following a blind man who still thinks he has “VISION” and all you are gonna end with is running into brick walls while other fans for club’s fans like Spurs, Man Cith, and black burn who will soon have some money will be celebrating a trophy here and there.

Wenger never sell young under performing players unless they go by themselves but i thing it’s time to at least make room for another crop of youngsters by selling those guys who have no chance of improving or even sending all of them out on loans.
