Liege confident of beating Arsenal tomorrow!
The Belgian Champions Standard Liege are feeling confident ahead of tomorrows Champions League tie against arsenal at the Emirates.
Liege stunned Arsenal by taking a 2-0 early lead in the reverse fixture, and believe they should have won it, and the massive win against Olympiakos in the last round has boosted their belief.
Standard are not doing so well in the Belgian League this season, lying in fourth, ten points behind leaders Anderlecht. Their title hopes were given a blow on Saturday when they were beaten by fifth placed Gent, but that hasn’t dented their confidence for tomorrows tie after seeing Arsenal beaten by Sunderland.
Their goalkeeper Sinan Bolat said:”It’s important to be concentrated for 90 minutes.
“They switch positions all the time so if you’re not concentrating they will catch you at any moment. We don’t look at the stats of Arsenal at home, we just look at our own performance.
“If we play like we did at home against Olympiakos when we won 3-0 we have a chance.
“We’re not afraid of Arsenal, but we have the highest respect for them.”
Their manager Laszlo Boloni was a little more certain: “We go to Arsenal and we’re going to win. That is our aim.” he said.
Arsenal have to know pick themselves up and forget the Sunderland debacle. They have to win this game to be certain of topping the group and show that Saturdays setback was just a minor blimp.
