Liverpool Keeper an Arsenal Transfer Target
I, personally, have been impressed with Vito Mannone this season for Arsenal. The Italian was third choice keeper before the season started, but has been thrown into first team action for almost all of the games so far due to lengthy injury problems for Wojciech Szczesny and Lukas Fabianski. Maybe Arsene Wenger has not been so impressed, or the Frenchman just thinks that he is not quite ready, as he is considering a bid for the Liverpool and Spain keeper, Pepe Reina.
It is six weeks until the transfer window opens in January, and Szczesny is ready to return from his injury, so if his form gets back to it’s best then Wenger will probably stick with what he’s got. His form, even when fit, however, has not been great recently. The Polish number one lost his place at Euro 2012 after a couple of blunders, and he was at fault for a couple of goals against the Gunners early in the season.
Wenger tried to sign Reina from Liverpool in 2010, but the move was blocked by Tom Hicks and George Gillett, as Reina reveals. He doesn’t sound too happy about the way it occurred either, suggesting that he might well be open to joining Arteta and Cazorla at the Emirates.
“Arsenal had made their determination to sign me clear by offering £20 million, a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper. Part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future, even if I did so with a heavy heart.
“When Liverpool received the bid, they rejected it. This was not because I was told I was too good a keeper to leave. The reason I was given was quite different, and it left me feeling down.
“I was told that my continued presence was crucial to the sale of the club. I was simply a bargaining chip min the sales process.”
Reina has been out with injury himself, but is now fit although he has not regained his place from Brad Jones. If Rodgers continues to prefer the Australian, Reina will not want to stay at Anfield, but he would not want to be understudy at Arsenal either. Szczesny is still only 22-years old, however, and could learn alot from an experienced international keeper like Reina. Watch this Space, Gooners.

NO DRIVE NO GUTS CAN DESCRIBE MOST OF THEM (not all). WE NEED A BIG RETHINK ON OUR TRANSFER POLICY, STOP BUYING CHEAP PLAYERS AND START PULLING UP FOR SOME STAR SIGNINGS

It’s not the keeper.
It’s tactics.
We need a change of formation and attitude. We have to attack teams from start to finish. Look at last season against Milan. We sat back in the first leg and got annihilated 4-0. The next leg we attacked from the start and had the game won in the first half, unfortunately couldn’t get that last goal.
One strong defensive midfielder, a winger with a great cross and a left back for backup is needed to go from 4th place battle to title challenge.

Mannone has been very inconsistent. In a few games it seemed like he was scared of the ball. Against West Ham he even had Carrol out jump him to the ball! But then again against Shalke or one of the more recent games he was possibly one of our best players. Really don’t know what is up with our players. Some games they shine, other games they look pathetic. The latter being more frequent.
I still believe Sczcesny is miles ahead of any of these keepers. Last season he was absolutely brilliant and for the most part consistent. I can’t wait for him to return and take back the goals. I feel safer with him there and our defense looks far more composed and organized. Anyone thought that perhaps it is for that very reason we have conceded this many goals?

we dont need a new keeper, a keeper is only as good as the defence in front of him,what we do need is a good left back, i like gibbs but he is always injured hopefully in a few years he will b able to play more often. A strong defencive mid fielder is baddly needed,walcott should b given a chance up front even if that means we switch to a 442

We have alot of problems but I don’t think the keeper is one of them. I said before the season started that we needed a new keeper but Mannone hasn’t been as bad as the players in front of him. Maybe we need 5 at the back. Set pieces kill us every time. We need a strong defensive midfielder too. I still think we need to change the formation.

I have not commented fully in a long time but I am a pessimistic guy,most of you will not believe that I actually said on the day after our victory against Southampton that Arsenal can’t win the Champions league or Premier League with this team but many of my fellow arsenal fans thought a was joking.I am really not surpriced at the results we are having now and I said Gervinho will be in the heart of everything good for Arsenal this season but most people didn’t believe me and I still stick to that,I was angry when they took Gervinho off with injury,I was so angry that I didn’t celebrate the Arteta goal,as soon as he comes back you will see how our team will turn around,he kind of brings luck and I was so angry when Arsene took him off against Schalke and of cause we all know how that one ended.Its time we complete our team in one transfer window.My favourite is a left back,a centre back,a physical defensive midfielder,a two footed dual winger and of course a fierce striker that can run at defenders.My dream buy Baines,Jagielka,M’villa,Adrian or Navas and all mighty Cavanai and of course all will be easy if we can clear the deadwood

It is funny to watch every time…
Coming closer to the transfer market, we are always linked with every stars in the world of football, and we go through the same “funny” debates and situations where the fans are “some how” getting excited…!!
Now we are linked with Reina, Morata ( not surprising, he is a youngster ) and many more, i am sure, during the course of the transfer market.
The fans should now know better…
Wenger did an interview for l”Equipe ( because here, they are mostly afraid to ask the hard questions and they are not sports journalist anyway ) and he said that his squad needed time to adjust not more players… He, again, reinforced the fact that his squad was large enough.
He said ( translated from French, of course ): ” The January market is not a good mean to improve your team because the players you are getting need to adapt right away to the mould of the team. Also quality players will have their price rose as soon as the transfer start. I don’t need to mention that we still have Rosicky, Diaby and others coming, which will make the team complete. We had a bad patch recently, I admit that, but we are still confident that we can achieve something this season.”
The journalist asked him: ” Are you still challenging for the league title or any competition “.
Wenger : ” We are still on course and in competition for every trophy on the land as we are not out in any of them”
WELL I AM NOT GOING TO COMMENT ON THE LAST BIT, BECAUSE HE IS ACTUALLY RIGHT. AND UNTIL PROVEN DIFFERENT, HE IS RIGHT ( very smart man !! ).
I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE RECRUITMENT THING, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT, UNLESS WE REALLY MESS UP THE GAMES TO THE START OF THE MARKET, NO PLAYER WILL BE ADDED.

Take Reina over anything we have right now. We could easily get him back on form and Mannone has made quite a few mistakes which have gone unnoticed. The header from OUTSIDE the box on Saturday springs to mind.

England are so OVERRATED! The major problem why they don’t succeed in World Cups or the euros is hardly any Englishman wants to play abroad. They all stick to their comfort zone of playing at home. That way, they only know how to play one style – The England Way – which really isn’t working.
Other countries are more successful because many of their players play in different leagues that are more technical. Some play in England as well, but there is more diversity of experience in other national teams. English players need to learn how to play against Italian and Spanish league players where possession and technical skill are common attributes. Throw Walcott in the Spanish or Italian leagues, and he’ll get eaten alive!

In case of Julio Cesar. It showed how Bad Arsenal people who run the Policy transfer are. Clubs that below us financially and in stature can snapped world class player. That showed how cheap we are. Period. if this goes on Mid Table standing is the place for Arsenal. Wow, just wow… With the early comments. No need for a keeper? He made two blatant errors in our last match. I’d welcome Reina. Mannone is just not up to it and Fabanski isn’t either. WS has the potential but he needs the competition and a kick up the backside. He was far too comfortable before his injury. He’s nowhere near world class. A championship winning team starts at the back. The back starts at the keeper.

Tis a shame and very disgraceful that arsenal can’t compete with QPR for the signature of Julio Cesar. How den can we call ourselves title contender. Tis obvious we’re title pretender. Arsenal can’t win anythin with these selfish board and a coach who is currently inefficient tactically. I suggest wenger shuld be taken to financial institute to manage finance cos dat’s where he belong. I believe that ire is not the defensI’ve players we have not, it is the system that we use. The zonal system is the main problem they should return to the man marking system were players have a set responsibility.
