Mannone to keep his place in the Arsenal team?
Mannone to stay No 1?
The position of Arsenal goalkeeper is not quite as certain as it was at the beginning of the season. Since Lukas Fabianski got injured, and Manuel Almunia contracted his mystery virus, the rookie Vito Mannone has leapfrogged both of them into the Number One spot, and it looks like he may well be keeping the jersey.
Arsene wenger was asked about who would be in goal he started of by saying it was a secret.
“I do not know,” he replied. “Come to the game on Sunday, and you will see.”
But later on he was a little bit more open, and he implied that he had some bad news for somebody.
“I wouldn’t say Manuel is no longer our automatic first choice,” he said. “But Vito has come in and done well.
“It is always difficult with these kinds of decisions.” he said. “You could say our job is to be unfair sometimes to players. You don’t want to be but some time you have to, no matter what decisions you make sometimes you are unfair to one or two players.”
But which two players is he going to be “unfair” to?
Surely he will stick with the player in form?
Arshavin – Will something suddenly change and we win a trophy?
Wenger – We WILL win a trophy, but i won’t spend!
Arshavin – Arsenal are good, but Barcelona are better!

Almunia does not imspire confidence in me. At the start of the season, he made a lot of mistakes that cost us goals and for an experience keeper he shouldn’t be making those mistakes. Mannone makes mistakes too, however, he is young and can afford to.
Mannone for me. He won me over after the fulham game. Plus he is putting in decent performances but at times the defence and diaby arent doing him any favours.
Mannone is the man to play for now. He has amassed some confidence on the pitch now. Aluminia can wait abit next weekend
Definitely Mannone… He is young and showing progressive performance compare to almunia whom mistake can not be tolerated due to his long experience that required him not to do so…
Wesly I disagree with ur last statement. “He’s young so he can afford to” I don’t believe ANY goal keeper can afford to make mistakes in an arsenal jersey. Sure he’s young and people will take that into consideration…but if he were to let in 3 goals a game, if he can afford to do that the club certainly can’t… I don’t think excuses should be made for anyone, right now he’s doing better than almunia did in the first few games, so based on that, he deserves to get a run out. It shouldn’t be based on anyone’s age. Just their form
Mannone is ablessed goal keeper by God for arsenal this season. His a winner and able to learn.Let the sleeping dogs lie.
Mannone is young and presently showing an equal form with aluminia if not better which makes him first choice keeper because if he is showing equal performance he can improve but it seems aluminia has learnt all he can and somehow is now going downhill.
