It is a question that is often debated by Arsenal fans across the globe, which clubs and players do you dislike the most? I have put together my top 5 most hated in each category.
CLUBS
1. Tottenham- It isn’t really a surprise that Spurs are number one. Personally, it isn’t actually the club itself I have much of a problem with it is mostly their delusional and incredibly annoying fan base. The worst part about Spurs fans is that most of us have friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even relatives that support Tottenham and no matter what they always have excuses as to why they lost and why they’re better than us even though they never finish higher.
2. Manchester City- Not one of our traditional rivals but they epitomize everything wrong with football. An average at best club who were simply bought by an embarrassingly rich family and now they’re competitive. They also have the worst fans in the Premiership, before they were bought by Abu Dhabi the City of Manchester Stadium was only about 70% full and now it’s packed every week but still all of the noise in the ground is generated by the away supporters section. I also will never forgive them for signing Kolo Toure as he was one of my favorite Arsenal players growing up.
3. Chelsea- Similar to Man City but not as extreme. Chelsea were competitive before being purchased by ,alleged, mafia boss Roman Abramovich but they do have an impressive track record of reckless and unnecessary spending that has led them to all of their trophies they have won in recent years. They hop above Manchester United in my book because they’re also in London.
4. Manchester United- They aren’t even a real football club. Man United is a giant corporation that couldn’t care less about fans or the game itself. All they care about is making money off of Asians and Americans. They constantly buy the best players and buy championships but their arrogant fans (none of them from anywhere near Manchester) still brag about it.
5. Liverpool- The most delusional fans in the world. Liverpool supporters constantly live in the past, are never realistic, and always have something to complain about. I am also a firm believer that you shouldn’t be spending your government assistance money on football tickets.
PLAYERS
1. Martin Taylor- I blame this thug entirely for Arsenal not winning the Premier League in 2007/2008. Taylor broke Eduardo’s leg in a devastating 2-2 draw that Arsenal never really recovered from psychologically.
2. Ashley Cole- Cole went from fan favorite at Arsenal to one of the most hated players in our club’s history. Cole committed the ultimate act of treason leaving Arsenal for Chelsea before the 2006/2007 season.
3. Emmanuel Adebayor- Another person who puts money before loyalty. Adebayor left Arsenal to sit on Manchester City’s bench just months after kissing the Arsenal crest on his shirt and betrayed us even more with his celebration after scoring against the Gunners in his first game against us.
4. William Gallas- Gallas was an excellent player but a dressing room disaster for Arsenal. According to reports Gallas was often is fights with his Arsenal teammates and Samir Nasri revealed that he and 5 or 6 other players weren’t on speaking terms with the Frenchman. Gallas solidified his place on this list after moving to Tottenham a year ago.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo- I don’t really have an Arsenal related reason to hate the guy but I hate diving and he just has that kind of face that you really want to punch.

When City were in the third division, they were still pulling 30k or so – it was something like the 10th highest attendance average in the country, despite having horrible players. Hardly fair weather support.
Wasn’t it also Arsene’s choice to sell Toure? He’s never made it back to the level we saw during the Invicibles season.
I’ve supported Arsenal for 20 years but we can’t really criticize other clubs for being quiet in the stadium. I was as sick of the library joke as everyone else but there was some truth to it.

Manure – Simply because they buy success, all these talk of Ferguson developing a team is an eyewash, he simply buys success thats it. In my eyes they don’t deserve it.

Liverfools – As I said they are truly fools who think that they are the only ones in the whole world who support their club, in a way they are a kind of jokers who will never win a premier league title in 100 years

I have nothing against Man City at all. All the city fans I have met are real football fans who followed them with the same passion when they were in the lower leagues.
Liverpool are currently an irrelevant so no hatred at that point.

I have nothing to hate about Liverpool and Man City while i just dislike Chelsea rather than hate. Barcelona is likely the most club i hate, only for their play acting and Cesc tapping up while i would like to add Birmingham as they pissed off Arsenal so many times in trophy hunt. I think i hate Evra, Xavi, Shawcross, Dani Alves, Pique, Nolan, Kevin Davies and maybe Diaby (pulling Spurs shirt when at home) more than Ronaldo. However i agree that the most footballer i will hate forever will be Martin Taylor. He is just a d***head.

I don’t hate Liverpool at all, and I don’t think Arsenal should. If they want to hate us then that is a different story, but I see them as a kind of allie and a team we can have good old friendly competation with and not a hate fueled one. Their fans are living in the past though.
Top of my list is Man Utd. The are everything wrong with football for me! Awful losers and worse winners. They have a skill of picking out the most hateful players and buy them. Their fans would have all jumped ship along time ago if they were going through what Arsenal is going through.
Strange for an Arsenal fan, but I don’t hate Spurs. I quite like the team and the club. However, this does not extend to the supporters at all. The dillusional and childishness of their fans is breath taking. With 2 league titles in their history, and one season in the CL they claim that Arsenal is living in their shadow. Harsh on taylor. I agree the foul did a lot to end our title challenge, but if you watch the games that followed the referees did a lot more to stop us. We didn’t play great, but in almost every one of the games we failed to win in our infamous winless run there was either a legitimate goal ruled out for us, or an illegitimate goal was scored against us that stood.
Also, (without wishing to sound like a broken record) it WASN’T malicious, and the guy didn’t give the impression of being someone who goes around trying to hurt people.
Ultimately it’s the media that should have gained the most hatred from arsenal fans wrt that incident. All we heard for weeks was (as I’ve just said) he’s not a bad guy, it wasn’t malicious etc., rather than any real focus on the fact that it was still a bad tackle, and perhaps they could have actually examined this idea that teams do go out to “rough [us] up”, and that sort of horrendous injury could have been a result of this kind of mentality. Since then we’ve had ramsey’s injury and too many bad challenges to count where the ref has just let it go. Imo this is at least in part because these refs have it in their minds that arsenal are just soft, and these bad tackles are acceptable. The number of times this season alone opponents were able to foul our players without a freekick even being given is astounding.

Also, adebayor did a great job for us, and my impression was that he was pushed out the door, rather than him really pushing for it himself. He still has kind comments to make about arsenal, and has remained grateful to wenger for taking him from monaco and transforming him from an average striker to a 30-goal PL forward; one of the better strikers in europe now actually.

My disdain comes not from annoying or plastic fans or from games we tend to lose. No, I focus more on the repercussions of a game. As such, the clubs I dread are Birmingham and Stoke. Arsenal always seem to come out of those games with long-term, season-affecting problems. Eduardo and Ramsey come to mind. This season was the best example as we got hit with the one-two knock out, Stoke took out Fabregas and Walcott, then a few days later Birmingham finished us off… down for the count. Birmingham going down was a jump-and-click-your-heels moment for me.

You call Liverpool fans delusional, unrealistic? What about Arsenal fans in London whom I never see on their seats at the end of the game? Can you answer this? Liverpool fans are true lovers of the club, they demonstrate to force a change in the club. Do you, Arsenal fan? They show good spirit and FAITH that we are always proud of. David – I don’t think he would have done that had the arsenal fan’s not been taunting HIM the whole game prior to that. I think he thought the arsenal fans appreciated him more for his performances for the club than they did, and when they made it so claer to him, his emotions got the better of him. He is a bit of a fool, over emotional at times, and he obviously shouldn’t have done what he did, but overall not actually a bad guy.
Compared to players like barton and paul robinson (who should be on this list btw for trying to injure fabregas and diaby on numerous occasions), he’s a saint.

Your reasons for hating Man Utd are rubbish! They buy success?! I’m pretty sure they develop a lot of youth and very rarely buy big name players. Also they have developed into the biggest brand in football which is why they beat teams like Arsenal to titles (revenue created allows them to spend money on players, youth development, ect). That doesn’t mean they don’t care about their fans. Obviously I’m a United fan, but i have a great respect for what Arsene has done at Arsenal, just think your hate is more envy for our success.
