Maybe Arsenal should just bring in some loan defenders in January?
The current injury list of Arsenal consist mainly of our full backs. Sagna, Jenkinson, Gibbs and now our newly purchased Brazilian left back Andre Santos, all are out with rather severe injuries. Out of desperation, Arsenal are now deploying their centre halves to play at the defensive half of the flanks, Vermaelen at left back and Koscielny at right back respectively.
On the outer surface, it should really be advised that Arsenal buy a full back for back up in January if we are to push for any major honours towards the end of this season. However, how would Wenger approach this issue?
Is Arsenal going to buy a ready-made full back or a future talent? Maybe we could also promote a youngster from the reserves squad? Price of course would be an issue too. Will we splash the cash just to get an emergency full back?
Another matter would be that Arsenal are looking for a full back ready to play in the premier league. A new signing would require time to adapt if he is from another league. Otherwise, the new player would also need time to gel and combine with his new teammates. Only this way can Arsenal form a solid backline to support our lethal offense.
Another factor to consider would be the competition between the full backs when our original ones return from injury. If a player does not get too many chances to play for the team, conflict and unhappiness may arise and would harm the team and players morale.
Due to the many factors to consider about purchasing a full back, I feel that it would be best Arsenal should sign one on loan. It would be best if he is a veteran player that is full of experience. This way, he can guide our developing young full backs into better players in future. A loan spell would also be the most cost effective for Arsenal.

its better to be buy a central defender. The ones that are available for loan are usually poor and cant get in their own team. And we have to pay the wages if he gets injured and ends up not playing. Buy an experienced defender. And send the younger ones on loan. Buy verthongen for fucks sake. He would be awesome with vermaelen

Hmm if I were wenger then I would sell squillaci and take miquel to the first team.
I would also sell djorou and buy vertonghen. Buying a new full back is not good because how often will all of ur full backs get injured at the same time again ? But buying vertonghen will give the center backs more competition and they would start to work harder for that spot. And also a great back up to ur fullbacks !

Sagna, gibbs and jenkinson are not far of from a return and santos supposedly only has three weeks to a month out … no need to buy a full back, plus we have ignassi miquel who has been very impressive. Give him a chance and until the full backs are fit we have cbs in verma who can play on the wing.
Although letting squilachi go, i would have no problem with – but no need to buy in a cb. Just promote miquel and let verma go back to cb
What we need is a striker to partner van p and allow him a rest
Then depending on the wilshere situation maybe a player like gourcouff** or granero who wont cost soo much to help with the attacking/ creative aspect of the midfield.
If jack is back soon then no need, stick it out untill the summer.

Gibbs and Santos aren’t too far away from recovering so I don’t see Wenger signing any loan deals which would create another name under the payroll.
He’ll most likely sign a defender with EPL experience, someone cheap but with high potential. I really hope he doesn’t sign another prodigy or young talent. Defence is an area that requires experience, mental toughness and physical prowess.
Forget Baines or Vertonghen. As much as we all like to see this happening, realistically it’s like winning the lottery. Baines will cost too much and Vertonghen’s price will inflate with a bidding war. Besides we have Miquel, Coquelin and Yennaris who can all fill the injured players’ respective roles. When Gibbs and Santos returns in 3-4 weeks, you’ll see that we have a multitude of players that can fill in. Wenger won’t buy purely on this truth alone, but if further injuries hit our back four before Jan, you might see the Prof pluck out a talent from the winter window.

Get Taye Taiwo on loan. He was the player Wenger should have signed on a free anyways. Taiwo just sits on the bench at Milan and he’s vastly experienced with Marseille in the CL. Nigeria isn’t going to the ACN so he’s available in January.

okay so who is going to cover vermaelen.. Squil can’t do it he is basically the older version of mert who is going to cover song injuries are just around the corner.. if we don’t do well because we have lost vital players then wenger should go..
we don’t have reliable depth and we are going to be playing champions league football on a tight schedule while trrying to succeed in the prem.. i understand Djurou making mistakes mert making mistakes but squil who has experience at 30+ no i don’t think so..
it is like relying on horses to win against cars..
is miquel ready challenge djurou 3rd choice and squil for the bench no..

Our Defence is fine we have had plenty of clean sheets this sesson and remember were missing all our left backs and right backs id rather not sign a left back cayuse gibbs is such a arenal player in a few years he will be great here more games the better and with sagna back we would be sick only deefence improvment i would say is sell djorou and squalachi and buy samba he is a leader and great defender he would be great to send on in last 10 minutes to defend a lead so mucvh better than djorou but first of all sign gotze podolski

Selling off Squillaci must be our top priority. As far as the full back position goes we need to buy vertonghen who can play lb,cb & also cdm. Then we also need to sell our loanees bendtner and denilson a.s.a.p. And this season must be the last chance for diaby….sick of seeing him on the injury table all time.
Wouldn’t Kyle Walker be a good addition ??

We’ve been unlucky with our fullbacks, but they are coming back on january, so I doubt we will sign one more. However, Vertonghen will do great helping vermaelen or mertesacker.
But that won’t do it, our midfield lacks one that can do for rosicky, diaby and gives and extra support to wilshere, ramsey, arteta. SO gourcuff, gotze or hazard will do it.
Tevez is also a good option to bolster our attack.
Vertoghen swap for Chamack and Djourou
Gotze or Hazard for Arshavin and rosicky plus 15-20 mill.

We have 5 cbs, 3 left backs and 2 right backs … we do not need more defenders.
Kos and verma are amongst the best the league, maybe even europe. Mert is quality and djourou can be good. To be honest squilachi is a pretty good 5th place replacement
Sagna is one of the worlds best right backs and jenkinson is very impressive. Santos is a little edgy at times but has been good. Gibbs has bags full of potential and miquel has been very impressive (actually shown more reason to be on the pitch then gibbs in my opinion)
We don’t need any defensive purchases and whats more theres no room for any – our defense has been very good lately… don’t let our injuries to FULL BACK positions make you make hasty calls to change our central defensive options… does not make sense.

Squid out cahill in, easy. He will be sold for about 7 mill. We dont need full backs as will return soon. With Cahill in it wont be a problem if TV5 or Kos do ever have to fill in at full back again

I think we should get someone on loan.
Who i think:
1.Vedran corluka (on loan), lost his 1st team spot to kyle walker and would want more playing time.
2. Gavin Hoyte, already at gunners fit into the team quickly and prove himself as well.
3. Pablo Zabaleta (on loan), from man city, lost 1st team place to micah richards would want more playing time. (premier league expirience.)
4. Rafael Da Silva (on loan), from Man utd, has not played much this season for Man utd, good young talent.
5. Emmanuel Eboue (on loan or buy him back), Prem league expirience, good former gunners player.
6. G.Johnson, (on loan) maybe could come. LFC have martin kelly and j. flanagan to fill that right back spot if glenn comes to gunners

I actually think our defense is much stronger with Vermaelen or Djourou on the left assuming Sagna returns healthy and plays as usual. Santos has given us nice runs going forward but has left his side of the field wide open defensively. Walcott and Gervinho are usually well supported in the midfield anyway, so why not give your entire back line a proper defensive presence? Kind of a different way of looking at it, I think.

I must be the odd one out because I think santos and jenkinson are not good enough, santos can’t defend and jenkinson just lacks talent he has nothing special about him. Sagna is good but poor defensively, Gibbs’ development has seemingly ground to a halt we all say this year he will be amazing or he will be great in a few years and when the time comes he isn’t. I think we need a new left back and a young apprentice left back, with the same needed on the right. In addition, I am not to keen on mertesacker, I think he is too slow, not physically strong enough and he never seems a danger in the opposition box swell as he never seems to be great in our own, I think samba would have been a better choice and we should sell djourou and squillachi, then go and get samba as I said and see how Miquel does but that’s just me I suppose.

Miquel will replace Squilacci at the end of the season, Bartley got injured so we call him back. Personally I wouldn’t bringing in Bridge on a short term loan.

We need only 3-4 player in this January first we need to buy for the midfield it must be gotze or gourcuff than our midfield options will be Ramsey n Arteta n wilshere with gotze or gourcuff. And it will be perfect to sign both players and gotze will do wonder on the wings. and buy podolski as we need a striker. And we need to buy Samba for our defense. we have defense but still we need him in our team against quality teams than we can have Vermi n Konsi with Samba and Mert with lots of option like Sangna and jenikson and Santos and we can loan out other young players. We can finish in top two with this team.. What say Gunners…..

give theo the striker role like he wants as van persie wants that bergkamp role anyway and oxo is amazing and gerv does well on the left, with wilshere able to attack and defend equally as good put him behind RVP in the mid with song who despite being a DM can also attack very well what an attack. and the defence dont look half bad either :p what you thinkin gooners

Vermalean was always a left back, so its not a problem. The problem lies with depth, if we one of our present defenders pick up an injury, we are in trouble, like who do we turn to now if verminator, djourou, mertesaker or koscielny get injured? (ignore spelling). We only have very young and inexperienced lads to turn to. I reckon if the injuries keep piling up, bring in 2 new boys.
