Mertesacker given good news after ankle operation
After watching Per Mertesacker tearing his ankle ligaments in Arsenal’s League win over Sunderland last week, Arsene Wenger feared that his third-choice centre-back would be out ‘long-term’. Wenger said at the time: “Unfortunately he has had surgery and we have lost him for a while,”
“How long I don’t know. He had reconstruction of his ligaments, so it will be long term.”
But Arsenal’s Big Friendly German has now been told that his recovery will not take as long as previously thought and will be ready to play in just a few months.
Mertesacker is currently in Bavaria recovering from the operation on his ankle after being examined by the Germany national team doctors, and they have told him that he will definitely be fit to play for his country at the Euro2012 tournament which begins in early June.
“My participation in Euro 2012 is not in danger,” said Mertesacker. “Dr Stockle in Tübingen did the operation on Tuesday evening, attached a piece of bone back to the ankle and patched up the deltoid ligament on the inside of the ankle. All went well and I am in Donaustauf, Bavaria, for the physical rehabilitation.”
It will certainly be a novel experience for Arsenal fans to see one of their players back earlier than expected, so perhaps Mertesacker is being prematurely confident, but you never know……

The most intelligent defender we’ve got. He is very calm. He is currently out and our defence has started panicking again. Watch Sunderlands 2 goals and u’ll see what i mean. AC milan goal margin would not have been that wide if Per was there. Get well soon brother.

Djorou was backing off Richardson all the way to the box. Mert would have went down for a tackle and either got the ball or the man, probably both, but in the end a goal would have been saved.

Shame per got injured he was just srting to show what he can as he promised him self very calm diffender never panics we need him bk tv5 and koscielny 2 same type i dont think that will work i woul reither have koscielny right bk tv5 with per in the middle.
